Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Sancho at United would be exciting to see. But hopefully he stay at Dortmund for at least 1 more season.

If the figure of £100 million that's being bandied about is true, I wouldn't touch him. I know the transfer market is insane but you'd want the finished article for that; a player who's the difference between winning titles and finishing down the pile. A good season in Germany and the fact he's English doesn't bring him anywhere close to meeting that criteria.

The reliable Sportsbild today saying City will almost make sure Sancho doesn't go to Utd. If City promised big money a year down the road if Sancho stays put for 1 more season then you'd have to think Dortmund would favour that deal.

Have a feeling Ssncho will be the summers Hazard/Bale/Sneijder/DeBruyne - everyone's muppet fantasy who never arrives despite relentless tabloid articles to suggest the deal is all but done. David Neres a real possibility though.

19 year old winger who's led Dortmund's title charge all season, performed in the Champions League, looked good for England. He'd be our best player.
He wouldn't. He looks great in compilation videos, but he's still very young, loses the ball a lot, and would be frustrating. He'd easily be our best RW though.

Nah thats about right, the finished article costs 150m+ these days.

Who'd be better? With de Gea and Pogba's current form I don't think they'd have a leg to stand on.

Why would it matter to Dortmund if City offered mega money next summer, as opposed to what we offer this summer? I'm sure we can broker a deal for him this summer, it's just whether the player wants to come if we're not in the CL next season.

The article barely says anything, just the obvious that City dont want Sancho going to United. But of course they won't, as he'd vastly improve us whilst they'd look stupid letting him go in the first place and buying him back for massive money, just as we did with Pogba.

Because he's their best player and letting him leave this summer would gift-wrap next seasons title to Bayern.

City might look even more stupid if they sit back and let him sign for us rather than just bring him back. Similar to how Jose now looks when it comes to Salah, De Bruyne, Lukaku.

That article means feck all, you may as well have wrote it yourself. We can afford to pay anything City can. And why would Sancho favour that deal? For what reason would Sancho pick to go play for a manager who refused to play him, has publicly questioned his mentality, and said he won't re-sign him. What about that screams Sancho's first choice?

There's absolutely feck all they can do about it. If Dortmund want to sell him and he wants to leave then it's done. City only have the option to match the bid and speak to the player if the player wishes to. This fecking notion that they still 'own' Sancho is bollocks.

SportBild aren't The Sun, but they aren't 100% reliable either. They claim knowledge about City's internal policy regarding Sancho, I'm not sure how likely that is to be true.

They claim that City want to prevent Sancho joining United at all cost, but not via some contractual option, but by making a better offer.

The final paragraph says that Dortmund won't be willing to let him go before 2020 and will demand at least 9 digits, which is more common sense than insider knowledge.

Sancho is my absolute muppet signing. I'll lock myself in the cupboard for a week with a box of tissues if it happens.

But City could pull strings in the background with Hans-Joachim Watzke and say 'Listen Hans, We' ll give you Leroy Sane and Phil Foden on loan for a season if you hold onto Sancho for an extra year and then promise to sell him to anyone but Utd a year from now'.

I just get a sneaky feeling this free run we supposedly have at Sancho might transpire to not be as free as we all thought.

I highly doubt Dortmund, a club with more history and prestige than most clubs would hold on to a player on the basis of a promise. Dortmund are a football club and a business, they will do what's best for them and not give a flying feck what City think or promise to do down the line. If City really wanted to feck us and sign Sancho, they'd buy him this summer and loan him back to Dortmund for a year, that's the only way they're going to shit on us making a move.

If Sane signs a new contract with City, they might lose interest in Sancho.

But if City and Sane can't reach agreement and Mahrez continues with his indifferent performances, City will be all over Sancho or the Portuguese kid. It's not rocket science. With Silva being 33 y.o., Bernardo will play mostly in the middle, not on the right wing.

Why would Sancho return to City? Well, they are a top team, their style is great for attackling players, and then there is Sterling whose rise to stardom shows what a young wide forward can achieve there.

Basically, a move to City is not unlikely at all. Sane is an important part of the puzzle. If he doesn't sign an extension, Sancho is likely to go there 2020.

Dortmund would still have to pay big money to loan Sane and Foden, and if they don’t, it will be highly suspicious and investigated.

He was obviously sour when he left. And judging by Pep’s comments a few weeks ago, he will never return to City.

It’s a total nonsense really.

Well, time will tell. Laporte snubbed Guardiola in 2016 and 18 months later was a City player. Things change quickly. Those armchair psychological explanations don't strike me as convincing.

Those aren't even comparable.

What's not convincing is your made up deals City making which apparently Dortmund are lapping up. Sane free on loan, Jesus Christ how the feck do you even come up with such shit?

Fact is everything you've said is completely made up. Other fact is Pep refused to give him game time, Sancho forced his way out, Pep publically slated his mentality, and has said he isn't signing him back.

But of course Sancho is desperate to go back right? So convincing.

Never mind the fact that if we really wanted to sweeten the Sancho deal we could loan Greenwood for a season.

Much more realistic.

Sancho is inconsistent, like Pogba, and his best is nowhere near as good as Pogba's.

Of course Sancho is only 18 though, so there is serious serious potential there.

Salah was a chelsea reject, Mane at southampton looked similar to zaha now. Would probably cost around the same as well.

If you think Mane then looked like Zaha now you weren't paying attention. Mane at Southampton always looked like the classiest player on the pitch, however many people on here accused him of being "patchy" or of disappearing in games.

I swear, people don't know class when they see it, even when it hits them between the eyes.

I'm probably missing a joke in here somewhere, but surely you're not been serious.

It'll be nice to have him, but if we're spending £200 m, and this lad is costing at least half of it, then I'd be worried. It'd be a massive amount of pressure on a young kid, and no way near enough improvement elsewhere.

Hard to explain, not a joke or anything but just an gut feeling that if we do sign him then it should mean we are finally making the right moves as a club in the transfer window and we have an actual strategy.

But yeah he would cost a fortune and the pressure/expectation will be insane. Also goes without saying we need more than one signing.

Sancho would be a game-changing signing. Still developing but would transform our team by giving us something we don’t have currently. By the time he’s 21 he will be frightening. As he becomes more powerful he can become a real goal threat too if he has the mentality for it.

Yep. He was regularly scoring against the top 6 teams also, he was always a big game player. Biggest mistake we made not signing him when we had the chance, we were linked for ages too.

I think the AFCON put us off, we rarely ever signed Africans.

Hasn't stopped them selling in the past. Bayern are gift wrapped the title every season anyway, Dortmund have done it for them allowing them back into the title race this season WITH Sancho.

They can't do anything about it if we pay the price that Dortmund want for Sancho and agree terms with him. Its Citys problem if they cant accommodate a first team place for Sancho, not ours so we'll continue to pursue him.

You are confusing me with someone else, I didn't say anything about Sane moving to Dortmund on loan or something like that.

Sancho to City makes sense IF Sane doesn't sign an extension. One need not be particularly clever to be able to understand it. Don't let reason get in the way of your armchair psychological observations and muppet dreams though.
