Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Spot on,
We need to teach these pricks a lesson
And then James/Mata teaches us a lesson when Greenwood gets injured after his 20th straight start.

Unless you guys mean we still get someone like Coman (Chiesa is shite too), this is an insane conversation. Walk away and next season is screwed.

You won't be teaching them anything. If it wasn't for Covid which is an anomaly, it's hardly as if they'd be short of clubs offering ridiculous amounts for a player of Sancho's ability.

It's hardly as if we are free of blame, we have played our part in making the market as ridiculous as it has been. Clubs know we have money and they don't have a pressing need to sell, there is absolutely no reason for them to sell for less than they value their asset.

I don't buy this story that Dortmund are as desperate for a sale as everyone seems to think they are.

Clearly having Sancho on the books with 1 yr left on his contract is a losing game for Dortmund if they keep him. They can have 100m this year, 50-60m next year or free the year after. Sure Utd might not be the club that gets him in that case, so we're incentivized to do the deal this year but they must have the financial sense to know when the time's ripe to cash out.

So if we are willing to offer 70+30+20 but Dortmund refuse, why not make it 80+20+20 instead? Let’s not drag but go for it, we need to have settle squad earlier to plan ahead for next season.

I agree that this is one deal where the club should make concesions and just get the job done. However if they can manage to get it over the line with better terms, naturally nobody should have a problem with that either. But it's important we don't feck this up, this is as good a shot were going to get at an elite talent for a long time.

You're not taking into account the fact that they will be a much better team with him, which will result in more money next season, they will have more intrigue around the club which would generate more revenue etc.

I still see them getting around 70m or so next season for Sancho. That's not as much of a hit for a team that imo really isn't as desperate as people seem to think they are.

We are the ones that get screwed if we can't pay what they want imo. We will have far more competition next window, especially with the reduced fee. I also don't think Sancho would be happy knowing we couldn't come to an agreement for him.

Clearly setting the narrative for when he is sold that they are the winners in the deal. He is definitely leaving

God how stupid - that is like us saying - we are the winners regardless:

Either we get a very good player, or we save €120 million which we can use on other players :)

My wet dream is that when (if) this gets done, Lyon (or whoever they choose to get a replacement from) charge them some ludicrous fee and refuse to budge. Make them spend most of the down payment or go into next season without a proper replacement. Schadenfreude is such a lovely word...

Ok. It's so cheesy and fake. So what? i lol'ed.

We need to get this done even if it costs 120m. He has 10-15 years left in him. He'll be worth every cent. It will turn out cheap in the long term. It would be an act of extreme stupidly and self sabotage to not get this done. It's the no brainer to end all no brainers. This negotiation essentially illustrates whether the club a truly serious about having a great football team going forward. It's a crossroads and the outcome will tell a lot. It needs to happen.

But if they can haggle without jeopardising the deal and knock 10-20m off the end price that's even better. It's money that can be spent on other players. It will set a tone for future negotiations. I'm not against them looking for the absolute optimal solution. And I couldn't care less if it takes another couple of weeks. I think all this desperation about getting it done right now today stems from fear that it actually may not happen and just wanting to see it signed and complete so we can stop worrying. An extra week or two training with the team would be nice but realistically it's not worth say a 10m that could go towards another good player. Pretending otherwise is daft.

 Sure, Dortmund. Lose one of the best young talents and call yourself winners. I'd rather lose (if that's what they want it to feel like) and have the player rather than the money.

Agree with all of that. Whether it takes 2 days or 2 weeks it really doesn't matter. But this is an opportunity we cannot miss and one that we would rue for years if we do.

Only one way to find out

Wish we don't miss this transfer by not going all in and later Ed comes up with "You will show your poker greatness by the hands you fold, not the hands you play"

Not with a club that has no real need to sell.
Of course they have. They have been financially hit (like every club cause of covid), and he has only 2 years on his contract. If he doesn’t sign the new contract, next year they will struggle to get 50m from him.

After the pandemic:wenger: Second wave incoming now and even more damage will be done to the economy. We will have this situation for months in 2021 also. So market might be a lot worse come next summer and Sancho will have an even shorter contract.

28 y/o Hazard went for almost 100m, they'll clean up on Sancho no matter when they sell him

Woke up to like 30 new transfer tweets. So excited thinking there was some movement. Feck.

Still optimistic this will happen though.

He had two years on his contract, right? Pretty sure he signed a 5.5 year contract in 2015.

The problem for BVB next season is that Sancho would be free to negotiate with clubs in only 6 months. And financially wise it could be beneficial for him, considering that as free transfer he would get some absurd salary. They actually got burned once playing the tough guy with Lewandowski, so they will sell in cheap next season. And it won’t matter if many clubs will be for him, the main decisions at that stage would be where does Sancho want to go and how much they pay him.

It is as risky move for BVB to push hard on this, as it is for United to not pay. Let’s see who blinks first.

We will have the same problem with Pogba if he does not sign a new contract fast.

From now on you need to wear a face mask to enter the transfer forum
 It's got to that stage now I don't even click on the tweets. What will be will be. I swear social media is the route of all evil and it's no longer money that takes that prize.

When we start a Jadon Sancho player thread I'll start the click bait again.

As much as I’d love Sancho at the club I don’t think we should be held to ranson. It’s a stupid amount In this climate and our defence needs fixing first. Chelsa signed Werner for half of what Dortmund are asking.
I’ve mentioned it before in this thread but I really don’t understand why people think our defence needs addressing first as a priority compared to reinforcing the attacking options with genuine quality?

This season we were 3 goals away from having the best defence in the league. We were 36 goals away from having the best attack.

I’m not saying our defence is perfect, I also know that our starting front 4 is great but we cannot afford to go the full season relying on playing them all consistently. Especially considering Greenwood is a kid, Martial and Rashford had injury issues this season and we saw the drop off in Bruno when he was tired from playing every match.

Sancho aside, we need to bolster the attack far more than we need to sign another defender.

Have a feeling it’ll be announce on the Monday morning and Jadon won’t be flying out for pre season with them
He'll fly out. Happens every summer.

Maguire was still playing for Leicester a couple of days before we signed him

Forget the highlight reels showing the best bits... I'm drooling at some of these 'all touches' videos from Jadon. Involved in so many promising moves even if they don't end up as goals, constantly affecting the game. Switches wings in a second and just keeps plugging away. Knows when he's too isolated and when to just keep the ball circulating, decision-making is far ahead of his age.

Think he could very well have a rough first few months (if we get him) just being able to find space on that right wing, never mind the pressure and media scrutiny he'll be under. You can see in those highlights that he's far from the finished product, but what a talent. So many young players out there with similar dribbling reels but non-existent end product.

Not with a club that has no real need to sell.
Player wants to leave now and club will have to accept a big discount if they don't sell now.

I'd say thats enough room to negotiate a better deal.

It's obvious that Dortmund want the money this season so they can replace Sancho and pick up a Covid bargain. The issue being they don't want to release Sancho for any kind of reduced price themselves and want it all on their own terms.

I think a deal can be reached though as it suits everyone to get it done one way or another.

Apparently they're close to signing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens who is a 15 year old wide forward at Man City and the best English attacking talent in his age group currently.
