Sancho Analysis
I know a lot of Utd fans have only seen compilations or youtube videos of Sancho and naturally he will look amazing in a highlight reel. I mean, that's what a highlights video is right....the best moments? Even Bebe looked insanely good on youtube.
But on a serious note, I've watched Sancho quite a bit in the Bundesliga. More than the average Utd fan in the premier league. (I like watching a lot of football). And believe me, this is no exaggeration when I say this.....this kid is absolutely sensational and an incredible talent. I've been trying to tame my excitement, but if we are able to get this over the line, he will be an absolute game changer for us! I've dreaded the thought of him going to any of our rivals for many months now.
Over the last 2 years, I've been dreaming of Utd signing him but I've honestly felt it was just that..."a dream" signing that wasn't feasible. I just felt in our current state in recent years, it just wouldn't ever happen due to our recent failings, poor recruitment and the lure of other clubs who are competiting for titles. But the whole covid situation has just opened up the route to Sancho perfectly and its like the opportunity has just fallen into our lap.....we could literally never have dreamt of a better scenario. This kid is one in a million.
I know theres a lot of fans who aren't sure what his best assets are or whether he's worth it, so I will give my analysis of him for those who aren't sure.
One of his most dangerous attributes is his close control dribbling and his ability to dribble with the ball at pace. He has this ability to draw defenders in and just explode away from them in a flash making them look foolish. It often looks like defenders aren't closing him down quick enough or they are giving him too much space....but the reason is if you try to press him or close him, his feet are so quick you end up looking rather stupid and also leave a gaping hole behind you.
His biggest asset which I feel is this....naturally teams try to double up on him to counter his dribbling threat. This is where Sancho is incredibly clever. He is able to play to the situation. If he is getting double marked, he is able to find quick give and go's with other players around him who are in more space due to the fact hes attracted defenders towards him. These give and go's he does are absolutely deadly. His "give" is so fast and crisp that the receiving player has plenty of time to receive and supply the "go" ball back to Sancho. Sancho is so explosive and fast off the mark that he can leave 2/3 men completely out of the game by drawing them towards him and then leaving them for dead with pace.
The special ability he has which is the reason why he is delivering insane numbers in goals and assists is his "decision making"....especially while travelling at speed. He is always able to find a killer ball when travelling at speed or doing a quick twist and turn. As his decision making is so quick, he is able to find opponents that crucial half second before a defender can do anything about. Quite often you will have players who are brilliant at dribbling and have rapid pace, but just aren't able to deliver the final ball consistently enough. But Sancho is a serial provider.
In summary, it would have to be an incredible cliff fall for Sancho not to suceeed in the premier league. He has every attribute you would desire from a Winger/Forward. This kid is a true generational talent who has an incredible future ahead of him. This boy has an X-factor that I've only ever seen in Ronaldo from our signings in the last 15 years. I genuinely believe Sancho will go on to have a better career than Rooney had. I truly hope it is at Man Utd. Believe me, you will not be disappointed!
