Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I like his off the ball movement, good runs in behind the defence and he seems to be able to deliver the right ball once he gets there. Not overly impressed with his dribbling though, he is no Ryan Giggs that's for sure.

Not a must get imo and definitely not a 100m player as of now.

True but you don't buy teenagers for 100m just for what they are at that age.

Even if he himself isn't a must buy a right Winger is so......

No matter the price in the end of this window we must have a right winger.

I watched his highlights on YouTube and I'm confused. Is he really that good ?

He gave me a weird feeling. I don't know if it's the way he runs, his dribbling or the defenders but clearly he isn't as talented as Mbappé or Dembélé.

But maybe I should watch Dortmund because YouTube isn't the best thing to judge a player but there is something fishy...

Whatever happens to "undisclosed fee?" Can't both clubs just shut up when it comes into transfers? I mean the seller will get the money anyway and it will take away the pressure from the player, if He's a young potential.

I'm sure We'll sign him. Fits the club, English, fits Ole, young and We're in need for RW.

This video?

I mentioned talent, as in an ability beyond and Sancho isn’t even close to the ability of Dembele and arguably Dembele is technically more advanced with a ball than Mbappe and probably more so than Rooney so does the name fit in that list talking about talent, then yes.
Dembele is so overrated here. Didn’t even play for France much in the World Cup. You have to factor in Dembele’s lanky build because as players age especially in soccer, physics comes into play and natural balance plays huge role. Lower center of gravity usually wins. Dembele’s limbs could keep growing from the looks of it while sancho seems well proportioned.

Sancho is only 18 ffs and already a starter at Dortmund. We shouldn’t be held at ransom by anybody especially as the player seems interested in coming. £50m should do it especially they only paid £8m.

On the flip side is the risk of him being another Januzaj, albeit he has already shown more, but he is far from a sure thing, hence the bit of chat about needing another year. But the extra year comes with the risk of doubling the cost to £200m. If he stormed it and looked like another Mbappe that would be his price.

The thing about Mbappe though, he killed it completely in the Champions League during the year with Monaco and essentially proved that he's a huge talent specifically with his intelligence, maturity and finishing. However, Sancho has shown glimpses but looks very promising to succeed unlike Januzaj who proved it only in 3 to 4 games during Moyes and his attitude was messed up as well. Sancho on the other hand intends on becoming one of the better players judging by his decision to move on from City and play for Dortmund. 80m seems a lot for him but like you said earlier, his price could increase to 150m the next year and not to mention, Real may come calling. Other than Sancho, Pepe looks good as well and would come cheaper. Joao Felix is another talent whose destined for stardom. He's one I would definitely spend 50-60m on.

Januzaj lacks pace. Would be an amazing footballer if he had that. Sancho seems to have that in spades and that’s what sets mbappe apart. His off the line acceleration is exceptional.

I know exactly what you mean.

It's his whirlwind type of dribbling - it seems like he is going anywhere and everywhere than somewhere particular with a methodical or calm type of dribbling.

Anyway - we are just observers; what do we know? Maybe he is fantastic and Ole/Ed think so too.

Sancho may be no Giggs but his first touch is something Ryan can only dream of.

Seriously Sancho's first touch at full speed is top tier.

I would not even blink if United signed Sancho for 80 million. That would be a bargain because of our desperate need of a right winger. That is the going rate for a young player with his potential nowadays. He will be a star player in a few years because of his abilities, and once he signs with a big club that's our chances gone. I mentioned Mbappe on here when he was at Monaco and people laughed at me for saying the player he would become, people not laughing about him now.

You need to go watch some videos of Giggs' first touches to jog your memory a bit.

He isn't a very good dribbler by any means, his ball control is a bit all over the place sometimes too. He is quite an intelligent player for his age though and his final ball is very good.

Not sure why some seem desperate to try and find fault in his game. You don't need to be a football genius to be aware of faults in an 18year old's game. It's blindingly obvious that he's going to be an enormous talent. If he can be got then we should be trying to get him. Maybe a breakout performance this Summer for the national team will be enough to convince us to pull the trigger, as it did with Rooney.

He’s very talented, he’s doing OK at Barca, not much more considering how dominant they are. It the Messi show pretty much attacking wise. Dembele’s actually only completed 90 minutes for them 3 times this season.

Probably a coping mechanism for the case of us not getting him.

There are a few reasons why Dortmund might be convinced to sell at around 80-100, perhaps 120 max with the clauses. 1.) anything can happen in a year, the kid could suffer a serious injury and might never be worth that again. 2.) with that money, they can spend half of it on CHO for a direct replacement thats potentially even better, and still have plenty left over to strengthe other areas. and 3.) while Sanchos been fantastic for them and won them many points, I dont think he is Neymar level just yet, meaning he like everyone else is still expendable and replaceable. 100M is the figure being quoted by most media atm, and its a really good price for a teenager who hasnt even finished his first full season as a pro, and just starting to break into the NT.

There's obviously a risk that he tanks, but given his age there is a good/better chance that he improves or at least retains his value (him being English is a nice insurance in that regard).
To think it's safe and easy to just sell him is also a bit naive. Every transfer comes with a lot of financial friction, City will get part of the fee, players and agents will take a bite as well. Taxes may also have to be paid. On the sporting side you trade the certainty of a well integrated top performer for the risk of a new player needing time to settle in or even flopping.

That's why it's Dortmund's business model to hold on to players for as long as possible, even if it means they get less money in the end because of a contract that's about to expire. Everyone has their price of course, but it won't be something United considers fair.

He frequently takes on multiple players and seems in perfect control off the ball while doing so

How can anyone say his dribbling isn't impressive? :wenger: At 18 he's already one of the best dribblers in world football. His dribbling style can be a bit unorthodox but it takes nothing away from the fact that he consistently embarrasses markers with his dribbling. The funny thing is his style reminds me of the old Alexis Sanchez.

His game play and dribbling is really exceptional for his age.

Given the fact we tried to sign him before he went Dortmund I have no doubt the club have a great dossier on the kid. And if we wanted him then the past 2 years would have only increased the wanting. If we go for him its because we have been following this kid for years and not just because of a wonder season at Dortmund.

Whoscored have the top 10 most successful dribblers in Europe as:

1. Ben Arfa (2.5)
2. Saint Maxim (2.5)
3. Boufel (2.1)
4. Messi (2.6)
5. Januzaj (2.8)
6. Thuram (3.2)
7. Atal (1.2)
8. Zaha (4.3)
9. Sancho (1.8)
10. Hazard (2.3)

In brackets are average dispossessions per game, meaning Sancho has the second lowest in the top 10.

If you do it per 90mins with a minimum of 15 games played this season, he's higher at 7th and only Traore has less unsuccessful dribbles in the top 10. Traore the advantage of being used from the bench often when the opposition are tired.

More impressive from Atal given that he's a RB. Definitely someone who we should be watching this season.

Hmm,interesting. So he's been on the club radar for sometime I presume ?

But,regarding his ability,I like him alot. I especially like his control in tight spaces, something you could argue our forward players aren't particularly well adept at.

You’ve watched him once for England and now believe a nervous game as gospel

Martial is one of the best players in the league on that score.

Is that you, Mr. Farage?

Fully agree with you. This is the current generation's Wayne Rooney transfer scenario, absolutely vital we secure him.

Reminds me of Ribery, just slightly (ever so slightly) less flamboyant.
Martial is one of the best players in the league on that score.
I agree Martial is one of our better players in tighter spaces but I think he's a level below the likes of Hazard,Salah,Mane,Sterling and Sane if we're comparing him to other clubs wide players.

That's a good display of his strengths, imo. I can't really understand people saying he's not an exceptional dribbler. What makes him a special talent beyond that is the intelligence and timing he already shows to exploit the openings he created.
