Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Thing is, I don’t think we are getting fleeced at £120m. He’s gonna transform our options up front and can play effectively in at least three positions.
If we keep him for 6 yrs, we’ll probably make a profit and if he stays his whole career then that’s 10-12 yrs of service at the top level. It’s unusual to find a player this good, this young. Only happens a few times a generation.

Does the structure of payments really matter to either Dortmund or United?

Even if we pay Dortmund 120m over 5 years, whoever they sign to replace him will also have his transfer fee paid over 5 years anyway?
It does matter a lot. Got to do with taxes and balance sheet. And the conditions of a potential transfer of Sancho got nothing to do with the conditions of potential other transfers in the future.

It's 120m euros so it more like £109m. 20m more than Pogba 4 years ago, about 30m less than Coutinho, about 10-15m less then Dembele.

It feels like one of those deals that you just want the club to push through like they could have for Hazard or Ronaldinho.

There's other targets, so this will be wrapped up this week.

Realistically it'll be wrapped up before the EL progresses so even if he's not playing he can bed into the squad.

Still 2-3 moves to happen yet (moving in to the squad)

Yes please. The attack would be complete with martial, rashford, bruno and greenwood from bench  . If it is indeed 120m then you must give credit to the finance department. Not many club can pay such amount with reduced income due to covid.

Hopefully he won't have to isolate when he enters the country before his medical. I'm not sure what the rules are re people arriving from Germany.

He will have covid negative certificates, and I bet he will have a covid test even before he boards which will give results by the time he lands.

For the extremely wealthy covid won't stop them having 'normal lives'

Worth every penny.

Greenwood - 18
Sancho - 20
Dr Rashford - 22
Martial - 24
Bruno - 25
Pogba - 27

That's 6 players that are very good/world class of potentially world class.

This feels like Ronaldo to Madrid when 80m was touted and everybody thought Madrid would talk it down with the player wanting to move there. Make him disrupt the club etc etc.
Nope. They happily paid it because they knew what they were getting.

It'll be 120m with payments, and United have accrued many commercial partners:

One big reason United are leagues ahead of other teams, Liverpool recently signed an ex-united commercial director too I think because to play catch-up now is a long road.

As United get more success on the pitch too the fan-base and partners will only grow more.

Pretty much the only club that is truly a sporting brand as well as a club.

Commercial
Within the Commercial revenue sector, we monetize our global brand via three revenue streams: sponsorship; retail, merchandising, apparel & product licensing; and mobile & content.

Sponsorship: We monetize the value of our global brand and community of followers through marketing and sponsorship relationships with leading international and regional companies around the globe. To better leverage the strength of our brand, we have developed a global, regional and product segmentation sponsorship strategy. Our sponsorship revenue was £173.0 million, £173.0 million, and £171.5 million for each of the years ended 30 June 2019, 2018, and 2017, respectively.

All nice and well saying pay up but imagine the pressure that puts on Jadon when he comes? It's not BVB's problem, of course not, but you can just see what a heavy price tag does to a player.

I just hope something a bit more sensible can be agreed, something around the €90m mark. Still a lot but just something more significant when you spending more than €100m

Quite an eyeopener how our revenue streams have switched so dramatically over the last 10 years.

It just goes to show that whether or not we make the CL, it really isn't that important anymore.

The broadcasting revenues from the Premier League far outstrip any other additional income from Europe, and of course our Commercial success as being the most recognised sporting brand in the world.

Thanks. Very informative info. So the hit from matchday revenue is not such a big factor especially with UCL football next season.

I am very much muppets assemble, but this isn't really anything new is it? :( It's the same news re-worded for 1-2 weeks now. Unsure on whether we'll get much more than this for another week.

There wasn't anywhere close to the level of talk about different payment structures and initial fees as we've had in the last few days. Wouldn't agree at all that its the same news if you take into consideration all the other talk there's been. I think it looks very likely it'll be done this week.

I still have a little feeling this deal won't go ahead.

I can see something like an agent fee's hitch coming.

I think vibes of past failed deals are still in my head. There's been so many deals in recent years that i've thought are pretty much done, but have still fallen through.

Anyone fancy a little wager? Not that I know what we can bet...

Honest...no hustle involved

Out of interest, who is Sancho’s agent? I’m guessing we’re not dealing with a Raiola or Mendes for this one.

It more or less says the deal, structure and price is agreed. BVB expects the money to be paid in installments. And when you consider how well connected Christian Falk is , it is almost as good as a Here we go.

I think the reality with Sancho is he's a player of big stature like Hazard was when he was at Lille, everyone know how good of a talent Hazard was you know he's going to be one of the worlds best and you know having him would make every club in Europe envious of a young talent thats giving 8+ years to your club.

United can't miss out on Sancho, they're not getting a player like Mbappe for example. So why lose out on another great winger from this generation?

Sanchos output levels are already similar to Mane, Salah and Firmino who are in their prime, Sancho is 20.

120M, the agent fees... it really doesn't matter, Sancho is worth that

Fcuk it!

Today is my birthday so I demand this deal goes through before I eat my cake!

Isnt' that what he's always said for 1-2 weeks though?
Remember, he is speaking from what Dortmund expect. I remember 2 weeks ago he said similar I think, but English outlets came out with "United remain far apart". If it's a proper English Journalist who came out with "United expected to pay 120m in installments", then I'd agree that's substantial. But a Dortmund mouthpiece would always claim 120m is the price, and Man Utd are expected to comply.

The difference now is before he was stating 120 is what Dortmund want, now he's saying Dortmund expect us to pay that. That's a massive difference.

Is it a massive difference? Before he said Dortmund want 120 and wont budge. 120m and 10th August deadline; they were the two hard rules. That's obviously what they were expecting then, and it's what they expect now. Again, because its from Dortmund I look at this as them trying to put pressure rather than anything substantial. If there were a breakthrough on fee + structure I think English journalists would be on it during the day, so lets see I guess.

I mean it's natural - the club only has so much money to spend. Liverpool spent feck all last season, and seems like they don't have anything to spend this summer too.

Now, we better hope this Ole gamble pays off because we've hedged our future on him.

Ofcourse not that I disagree and I do like this quality over quantity. Problem is it would take atleast 3-4 years to have a formidable team. So at times, we can always go for some cheap bargains who could be a key part of our team. We just aren't doing it now.
