Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I think this is done tbf. Just need to be patient. Both had agreed to a price and just a matter of payment structure imo.
Yes but it's only done when it's done. Till then, as close as it is, it's still a work in progress and we've seen those go wrong before. Hopefully we get over the line soon, so that we can all have one big Muppet party and move on to other business.

This will also be a huge transfer in terms of weekly wages.
Sancho is already on something like £190,000 per week at Dortmund. At United, this will probably rise to ~ £250,000 per week, making him the highest-earning young player in the world after Mbappe. If he continues to progress and stay at United long term, he may be our first £750,000 per week player.

Not sure it works like that.. if you sign Sancho for €120m over 6 years, it will cost the club €20m per year through the P&L regardless of the payment structure (plus his annual wages). Doesn’t get more complex than that in “cost” terms for the club. All that is being agreed here is Cashflow. All teams will be looking to protect their cashflow at the moment, so this will just be about the teams finding the right balance for a big deal. A club of your size will always be able to generate more cash.

I’d imagine transfers are rarely 100% upfront payment. Particularly ones of significant value.

I am just connecting the dots with no substantial evidence. After 2 years of heavy spending we got only Fred in 2018. We spent again heavily in 2019 and we are going to do the same this year as well. Definitely, we will be having 1 or 2 quiet or low spending windows in near future.

Provided we can get a DM next summer and maybe a cheap young LB too I would be happy with that.

VdB is not a pure number 10. He is more of an 8. And I mainly prefer Grealish because he is PL proven.

I like the new recruitment idea about players wanting to be here. I can't say with a certainty but Vdb had his move to Madrid called off and I believe he would come here only because they couldn't afford him. I would rather prefer Grealish who has always been a utd fan.

Did you see the post I just added to the Grealish thread as it kind of backs up your last sentence nicely.

He was offered the contract but never signed it. Pretty sure he doesn't earn up to that.

You should get a job writing for The Sun with comments like that.

I mean it's natural - the club only has so much money to spend. Liverpool spent feck all last season, and seems like they don't have anything to spend this summer too.

Now, we better hope this Ole gamble pays off because we've hedged our future on him.

I doubt he's on £190k a week already, but I don't think £200-250k a week is unreasonable for the most expensive player in PL history.

Why stop at 750 k per week, make it all the to a 1 million per week :).

I see the front 4 ending up being

Rashford

Sancho Bruno Greenwood

Martial is to inconsistent, I feel the above front 4 would work very well together woth 3 of them playing

I think you actually are right. We have been punching too much above our weight for a long while now. Although Scrooge Mcduck has been doing alot of off-field revenue generation yet since we are not winning big things so our revenue generation would automatically get smaller.
But, to contradict my own point at the same time, we are actually building a squad which may last more than 5 years, so that's something which may help with finances

He turns 19 in a few months. Sancho is only 20.

Hahahahaha
Basically Greenwood is turning 21 in a few months(Edit: in 26 months or so) making him practically older than Sancho to be honest.

I don't think we need VdB. We need more of a cover/competition for Matic.

I would like a backup for Bruno as well and Grealish would be my pick but we don't have a warchest.
Well we should be shipping players out and get some money back in so we can get him and others.

Personally will get Lingard, Sanchez and Pereira out for Grealish. I reckon they could cover up to 75% of his transfer fee and will be saving far more in wages honestly.
Let Fred go and he could cover 50% of Rice or even more of Partey's fee.

And Finally let Smalling, Jones and Rojo go and replace them with Badiashile or Kabak and it will be a good transfer window.

Bild reporting we've offered to pay the 120m euros in three instalments and some more unreliable sources saying it will be accepted. I think it was 50m euros followed by two further payments, if so and accepted that'd leave us a sizeable chunk for more signings

See what today brings.
Howard Nurse tweet saying that Man United are considering making an enquiry for Jadon Sancho

Fabrizio really doesn't sleep does he?
Where would he play? Would he play the role that Greenwood has been in lately? Just kinda want Mason to keep getting games as he's extremely talented.
Sancho can play any of the 3 positions behind the striker.

Stop worrying, Greenwood will play just as many games as last year they'll just be rotated a bit more and have a bit of a rest every now and again.

Rashford will drop out 1 week, Greenwood the next. if Martial gets injured then we've got a class player to come in instead of Mata or James etc.

Think he'd be around Rashford wages - £200.000 with lots of incentive addons.

I'm surprised we didn't stretch out payments over 5 years!

Also wondering how much of that 70m + 30m + 20m are performance related and how much is guaranteed money?

Nonetheless, if we get this done quickly, it won't matter. Our front line will be pretty much set for the next 5 years.

We might be overpaying a bit, but for a future England star to go along with our other future England stars, I don't think the marketing aspect can be underestimated. If Jadon ends up playing 10-12 years for us it will look like a bargain.

if it wasn't for my own muppetry, I'd want Woodward to submit the bid on the 11th and see if they can refuse that.

I'm actually expecting an official annoucment on the 7th of August. Both Maguire and AWB was annouced the same date as their respective shirt numbers..

But 11 is also available so could be that.

Does the structure of payments really matter to either Dortmund or United?

Even if we pay Dortmund 120m over 5 years, whoever they sign to replace him will also have his transfer fee paid over 5 years anyway?
