Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Apparently he is/was a Chelsea fan as a kid. He wouldn't go back to City I'm sure but I heard that one of the reasons for leaving City was that he didn't feel settled in Manchester. Maybe it's me being pessimistic but with the whole FFP thing thrown out the window I can see Abramovic coming in and throwing big money at him last minute.
Didn't feel settled in Manchester so he moved to Dortmund?

Terry was a Utd fan as a boy still became Chelsea`s greatest ever captain his childhood associations mean little and you shouldn`t worry about Chelsea coming for him they are adding Havertz to an attack that already has Pulisic, Ziyech and Werner as the front 4 the move would make little sense for both the player(game time) and Chelsea(need to focus on their defence with 54 conceded PL goals and a new GK) we have a very free run

Haha well said.

So @Prodigal7 you fear Abramovich will spend 100m Euros and 80m Euros on 2 attackers in addition to already 100m or so Euros on 2 attackers, while they need a GK, LB and CB? Ok. I feel sorry for you that you are so scarred by previous muppet failures.

Sancho wont go Chelsea. They are stacked in the wide positions. The only team i could see rivalling us is Liverpool if they got a big offer for Salah or Mane . Utd need to get this over the line and soon . He is the number 7 we been crying out for since Ronaldo left

People treat Bundesliga like it's some kind of farmers league still. Sure PL is a better and tougher league but the difference is not so stark that Sancho will have a lot of trouble bedding in...
Mh, i think the difference between the top 4 leagues is negligible in terms of quality but can be significant in terms of playing style. The bundesliga is a league of transitions, while PL is much more chaotic but also not as open
To put this into perspective, when was the last time we seen an 18 and 19 year old put up his end product, with his dribbling ability, and with his technical skill in any of the top 5 leagues?
Weeeeelllll

Aside from the obvious Mbappé?(who's been even better and translated his league performances to CL/International football immediately)

Ousmane Dembele :D

I'm sure it's difficult to maintain a love and affection for a club you support when you are playing with a pro clubs youth teams from 6 years old

Genuine question. Did Dembele have these kinds of G+A numbers?

When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think Jadon Sancho will be thrown into the sea.

I've not kept up with the news today and haven't read up on this transfer. How likely is it looking or do we not have a hope in hell?

I see that we're already on 355 pages. I was a lurker during the infamous Vidal thread...

I've been watching a lot of his Youtube videos lately and i think he's what we need to complete our front three with Mason rotating either one of Rashy, Martial & Sancho. Muppet dream :drool::drool:

Was a tongue-in-cheek and off the top of my head but you made me check

Per 90 minutes(league+CL):
15/16 Dembele 0.6 G 0.2 A 5 dribbles
16/17 Dembele 0.3 G 0.5 A 3.5 dribbles
16/17 Dembele(CL) 0.2 G 0.7 A 4.5 dribbles

18/19 Sancho 0.4 G 0.5 A 4.1 dribbles
18/19 Sancho(CL) 0.2 G 0.2 A 2.3 dribbles
19/20 Sancho 0.7 G 0.6 A 3 dribbles
19/20 Sancho(CL) 0.3 G 0.3 A 3.3 dribbles

16/17 Mbappé 0.9 G 0.5 A 1.9 dribbles
16/17 Mbappé(CL) 1 G - A 3 dribbles
17/18 Mbappé 0.6 G 0.3 A 3.4 dribbles
17/18 Mbappé(CL) 0.5 G 0.4 A 3.7 dribbles

Sancho closer to Mbappé than Dembele in the league, not so in CL. Mbappé with the best numbers across the board. Also similar numbers between league and CL, which goes to show how ridiculous he is

Whoever is at CF next season is going to have a field day.
You know the thing that surprises me, many think he's a RW player. Just because he's right footed. This lad can also play on the LW he's that versatile. I've seem him a few times on the left flank and he can dribble with both feet.

You could even have him as a attacking midfielder such his qualities are for optional back up if needed. Can you image if we got a out and out CF like Kane? Think I need to wake up and smell the coffee, probably won't happen.

Your quite right though, with Sancho he's a CF paradise.

Yeah, agree.

And I'd think he will fit in very well with our players and playing style. But yeah, PL is another beast than Bundesliga.

Luckily his skillset is better suited to PL than Werner for instance, in that he doesnt rely that much on speed but more on getting out of tight situations and has really good passing and awareness of others' movement.

I'd wager he would fit better with us than any of Chelsea signings would in their team, at least from the get-go. Also because he is the only one coming in, while they have 3 incomings.

Chelsea would have to more or less create a whole new system and play up-front, while it is glaringly obvious our team needs a RW.

So all in all im quite optimistic as long as he has a run of games to get used to us in the start of the season, which he will.

Ofcourse, having a normal pre-season would be even better, but both Maguire and Fernandes fitted in really well even without.

I'll take your word for that as I haven't seen any of the new Chelsea players.

Now the important question is: is he here yet?!?!

Yes I agree it would be a higher pressure than he's known to get forward, like you say hopefully it will be the making of him. He is probably the best athlete in the team so I I don't think the physical aspect of getting up and down the flank poses a problem, its indeed the inclination to do so and not take the safer option.

I have liked some of AWB's linkup this season, he's not scared to play a quick one-two or a few intricate passes to get out of trouble on the wing, if he can get up the pitch and link well with Sancho it will hopefully provide a similar Sancho-Hakimi type situation for us.

Regarding the bolded part I really hope to see this, we've had some great attacking play in the good spells we've had (particularly the recent free scoring run we were in) and if we can increase that intricacy and retain the ball high up the pitch as a result I really think it will take us to the next level.
One of the reasons to get this concluded ASAP is for our players to have as long as possible in training to familiarise themselves with one another, and for Bissaka to learn and process the myriad of options and possibilities that will be presented to him off the back of Sancho's movement, passing and threat.

Bissaka is going to often find himself wide open and free and it will be great if he has the understanding and situational awareness to make himself as much of a problem to deal with in his own right instead of standing static or reactive rather than proactive and constantly productive. Our coaches have a hand to play in AWB's development (if we get Sancho), too, as they really need to get every bit of attacking impetus out of him as they can.

Sancho could even usher in the contest between Baird and AWB for the supporting role as we move from defending that flank primarily to attacking it, relentlessly, through a truly world class threat, which will hopefully become a duo.
Don't get me wrong, it clearly benefits Sancho having Hakimi at Dortmund but that is only one season. Sancho performed just fine with Lukasz Piszczek at right back. I don't think its that much of an issue in all honesty.
There's no doubting that Sancho is a force with or without a flanking FB, but to really lock a flank down, you need the full-back to play his part and it really will be something if we go from having to praise Bissaka for last-ditch tackles on our end to oppressing the opposition and hemming them in their own half as great wing pairings are famed for.

I’m going to try and not get too invested in this because it’s going to drag on until October.

There are arguments his actual best position is the LWF position and he's also great at just switching wings mid-game and trying his luck on the other side of the pitch.

I really wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the middle by his latish 20's, personally. He has the skilset, the intelligence and awareness, but for now, it'll be great for us that he can pick up any position across that final third behind the striker and be effective from it. Bruno and Pogba roam a lot as does Martial, so there could be some multi-positional exchanges going on the likes of which we've not seen since the times of Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez.

It's all very exciting. I'll wholeheartedly admit I've been on the Sancho muppet train in this thread for years now :nervous: and haven't anticipated a signing as much since the times of Vidal and Thiago... let's hope this one has a better outcome!

If he comes, that front line is causing serious damage to any opponent. It's very exciting times, I'm confident Sancho will come. Time to bring this team to the next level.

No chance. Neither teams will want that to happen. It simply won’t be dragged into next season.
I agree. Dortmund are not a club that will want this to drag and will want this done and dusted quickly so they can plan for the new season.

No doubt I'm on the same page as you with my thoughts. With a very good CB too then I'll be one happy chap.
