Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Dortmund's reputation and appeal to young players (especially English ones, it seems) is to go there, spend a few years getting some really good development and gametime, and then they will let you move on if the price is right. They are a selling club. If they start really playing hardball and keeping players who want to move on, I cant imagine the next Jude Bellingham being as willing to go there.

Dawson is the ESPN Journo reporting this so I expect Ducker and the rest to follow suit later.

I expect us to sign Sancho, I'm just praying it doesn't take all window to sort out.

As amazing as his signing would be, the way we ran out of steam towards the end of the league campaign highlights the need for depth in the squad.

Being proactive in the market this window means having to act quickly. If it costs us 5-10m more to get this transfer done now rather than a week or so before the new season, just do it.

Think Dortmund won't let it, they're an efficient club. Very rarely do they put themselves in a situation where they are not able to replace what they've already sold. They'll want to get this done for the right price so they can move on and so it's up to us not to mess this up. Chances are if it doesn't happen soon, it won't happen at all.

I think signing Sancho could be the real turning point for the club.

Lets hope so. He certainly is a fantastic player.

I just think we need more than him though and that's my ONLY gripe with this possible transfer. If it's going to take the majority of our budget away we might still have some issues in the team not fixed. Nobody can complain if a player of his quality joins though.

BUZZZING we got CL. It just relieves all the stress - this is going to happen for sure now.

that's why yesterday was so important. Without CL, I'd agree with you ... but now that we have CL locked up, we should be able to invest healthily this summer. And frankly, we have to - just look at what Chelsea are doing. Sancho will cost us a pretty penny, but with the CL in the bag, I'm convinced that we'll still be able to strengthen well in other areas.

If we did offer 98m Euros then that's £89m, equal to our current record with Pogba. Generous offer imo to match our record during the pandemic for a player that wants to leave with 2 years left on his contract that they paid next to nothing for.

fecking hell, that was rejected?! I would have hoped we bag him for £80m and £89m just got rejected if that's true. Feck Dortmund, I really hope this doesn't eat into the budget for other areas.

BVB have rejected a €98m bid from United which was likely including add ons. BVB have then briefed both Bild and Kicker and are expecting this deal to be wrapped up in the next few days because they feel United are very close to the price they'd accept which is what both German media outlets are hinting at IMO.

That's my understanding of it...

Maybe it was including a number of add ons. Like maybe 80 mill + 18 mill as add ons or something similar.

I was saying a few months back. The pandemic isn't going to affect the top end of the market. Leverkusen are holding out for 100m. Top clubs are generally financially healthy. Many of them beieve they will ride it out without needing to sell players.

also doubt we've made an official bid yet. Stone and other journalists have written about a 20m gap for a while now, so this isn't really new information ... it's been known for a long time that BVB want 120m too. I'm sure there'll be a compromise of some sort with add-ons. I wouldn't be surprised if in the end it'll be something like €105m with an additional €10-15m in add-ons.

Think the final deal is going to be something like 100 mill euros (91 mill pounds) plus 20 mill euros as add ons. Expensive? Yes, very. But considering he's English and the potential he has, it would be a very good investment IMO

The player wants to move to us and has done so for well over a year according to some very reliable journos . The only issue was the financial side and the timing last season which really didn't suit all parties involved IMO.

To get your juices flowing we will also sign Willy Kambwala. ;)
Thanks for the insight. I believe it was the timing last season. Sancho needed another year at BVB and they weren’t going to let him go that soon either. He was key to their push for the BL this year.

Just seen your latest updates on Sancho. That’s a lot of news coming out a day after we secure CL don’t you think?

The report about the €98m bid is news to me! Not sure how accurate it is.

Edit: thanks for the news about Willy! Should get my muppet juices flowing at least 3 years from now

Let's see how good negotiators Woodward and Matt Judge are. From hindsight, they are really bad. We always end up paying what other team wants.

Even though we roobed Sporting in January, they only wanted 60m, which they got (not yet techincaly, but will after Bruno plays 20 league games I think).

There was talk Havertz will cost 100m. Now it looks like Chelsea will get him for 75-80m.

Like I said, this is true test for Woodward/Judge. If you gonna negotiate whole summer for Sancho deal only to pay the same price at the end, then just buy him now

Shortly before that tweet they said that Dortmund are expecting a bid... I think they are milking the situation at this point. There is clearly something going on and everyone is trying to capitalize on that.

Ah the preparation phase.
We need a Covid/Nandos heat scale for identifying what stage we are at with a transfer.

So the latest is Dortmund have rejected a £90m offer and are holding out for closer to £110m. Yikes.

I'd love it if we could keep the initial price under £100m just for the fact that double figures seems less painful than triple figures.

Hopefully they can do a deal at around £90m + £10/15m in add ons.

If Sancho really wants this move, he ought to put some pressure on Dortmund.

On a side note, having watched Dortmund fair amount of times this season i feel that one important aspect of his game is being overlooked. He spent most of his game time playing ahead of Hakimi, whom is in his own game quite offensively minded. They had a great understanding and had partnership, assisting one another, overlapping etc. AWB is great defensively but his offensive game is sorely lacking.

I think Stones and Ducker etc will be briefed by United when the deal is in it's final stages. Watzke on the other hand is very chatty and has form for briefing the likes of Bild and Kicker.

It would be a huge message to the rest of the PL that's for sure. With Chelsea making some really exciting moves of late, we can't be standing still.

The turning point will be evidenced by results..especially against weaker teams where we dropped points. That's where I'm looking for the likes of Sancho to influence

He's not going to put pressure on employers that have been brilliant for him. He has to be more diplomatic than that and that's his agent's job

BUZZING is most definitely the word mate!

I’m just glad our qualification can’t hinder the Sancho acquisition anymore, if that is what was holding it back..

Can we swap it for Anfield please?
If we sign him, we’ll see quite a few at both arenas over the next DECADE
