Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Stuff like this is what makes me think it's only a matter of time. Dortmund say they won't accept less than 100m yet will say they are preparing for an 'adequate' offer. Surely they wouldn't say that if they'll genuinely not accept anything below what they want. Plus it was 120m at one point if I remember correctly.

I am no guru but aren't a lot of our big transfers conducted through intermediaries?

Some of you haven't been around since Benzema '09 and it shows.

Bild report that BVB have Jonathan Ikone and Jeremie Boga as their top targets as the candidates to replace Sancho.

Zaha ain’t worth 50 million. He is a pretty mediocre player and will struggle to find a better club in my opinion.

We have a 25% sell on clause with Zaha, so any fee would be effectively be 25% less for us. Could be a cost effective option, Palace should have sold him last year and they would have got a really good fee for him.

He’s not the right player for us, and doesn’t play as a right winger anymore.

Everton or Spurs are the sort of clubs that would be in for him. I would think around the £40m mark.

BVB targeting two replacement candidates as the Sancho poker hots up.

What’s your take on this transfer?

Taking into perspective all the recent reports including all the ITK stuff on reddit, do you think the transfer is almost done or are we still to begin formal negotiations with BVB?

I expect us to sign Sancho, I'm just praying it doesn't take all window to sort out.

As amazing as his signing would be, the way we ran out of steam towards the end of the league campaign highlights the need for depth in the squad.

Being proactive in the market this window means having to act quickly. If it costs us 5-10m more to get this transfer done now rather than a week or so before the new season, just do it.

I called this transfer last year and was told by a few I was deluded. It's on like donkey Kong..

It will be classic Woodward and Judge. Make it drawn out and eventually end up paying them what they want just like with Maguire last year.

I think we would have gotton him even last year without Champions league but prioritise other areas.

Yup, same AWB, except that happened earlier in the window.

We clearly are not party to negotiations, but it seemed apparent Palace wanted us to remove the Zaha sell on clause as part of this transfer. We negotiated that out of the deal. If he goes for £40m this summer, that’s £10m to us.

We've also kept an additional 22.5m of Adidas sponsorship money by getting into the CL, plus the appearance and TV money it will bring. If it's the difference between 80m and 100m i don't think we will balk at it anymore.

Sancho provides depth though. He can play either side and as a 10 so its also an option for us to rest Bruno.
Id take a high quality 2 player window rather than filling out the squad with 3 or 4 reasonable players for perceived depth

Bild also says that if Sancho is included in their training camp squad (starting on August 10), he'll stay. So there'll be clarity soon either way.

Jonathan Ikone and Jeremie Boga are their targets in case he goes, if anyone's interested in that :D

That doesn’t answer my question but I’ll let yours and @Judas utmost belief convince me this ones in the bag..

Do you share similar beliefs about any other players linked to us? That would really get my muppet juices flowing.

Both Kicker and Bild who are extremely reliable have been briefed the same it seems about a impending offer from United which is expected to arrive shortly.

Sounds like Sancho has asked the club to leave according to the briefs this morning from Bild and Kicker

Of course Sancho provides depth, but the areas we looked weakest in over the last few weeks were CM and CB. The way teams were able to press us was a concern - although I think we really missed Shaw as an outlet to carry the ball/stretch teams when we built attacks.

Sancho is a must, but we are crying out for another CM/CB, especially if the likes of Smalling and Rojo leave

If this is a go, it makes sense to wrap it up ASAP for all parties, not least to get the new players integrated during these bizarro times.

Sancho has a lot of friends in our camp, but getting to train with them from the start of the window rather than at the end of it, could be worth a good amount of points for us come the end of the upcoming season.

And if it is merely £80m he ends up going for, it must surely be with some clauses we'll end up paying that hike that figure way up should we win the CL or PL.

Dortmund have been done over by Covid-19 something serious as that's some way off the figures he was on his way to being 'worth' before incentives even entered the equation.

The player wants to move to us and has done so for well over a year according to some very reliable journos . The only issue was the financial side and the timing last season which really didn't suit all parties involved IMO.

To get your juices flowing we will also sign Willy Kambwala. ;)

Personally I would sign a top CB alongside Sancho but theres no need to sign squad players since the players they replace will become the depth anyway.
I do think we can get away with our DM for another season. It is a spot we can strengthen and Im all for doing it if we are able to go out and sign all the players we need in 1 summer but I doubt thats the case. Plus its very unlikely every player we want are available all at once.
If I hear Ole saying they are signing players that are 4th or 5th in his list ill be very disappointed. Id rather wait in that case.

Good news is i imagine it'll be sorted in the next 2 weeks if Dortmund want his situation resolved by the 10th of August.

There's too much noise coming from Dortmund and the German papers for this one not to happen. That should be quite encouraging - none of this pseudo shite about wanting to keep him like Leicester with Maguire last summer.

I'd love for us to just get it done like Chelsea are doing right now

Would be so nice to just have it wrapped up
