Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

What is wrong with some of ye  . He is a generational talent, there is absolutely no question. Barcelona couldn’t handle him whatsoever in their last champions league meeting.

Sancho’s an excellent dribbler, good finisher, good crosser of the ball, flawless close control and fast. What more do you want from an RW? We’re lucky he’s available because this kid is already a star and will only get better.

Yeah you only need to look at that goal he scored in the Nou Camp last season. So much power generated from a standing position and great bit of skill too.

You and that guy need to get your fecking eyes checked. The video below was 12 months ago. He is so much better now when compared to last season.

So do you think he is worth 80million and a potential balon d’or winner?

I'm just thrilled we're in for a right sided player. It's been about 10 years since we had a proper one FFS.

He's worth £80m in today's market, Ballon D'or winner is a different story, that all depends on what United win.
He has 2 years left on his contract. We should be able to get him for 65 and a lot of performance incentives. We can’t keep spending 80 million and above every year.

I could care less whether he wins or doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or. He will change us. He will improve us adding an extra dimension in attack. Unfortunately we are desperate and we have to spend 80m if we want him. I’d rather spend an extra 30m and get him this year rather than wait and gamble on getting him next year when more teams can afford him.

Unfortunately we don’t set the price. Dortmund do and that’s the price they are willing to let go. It’s a simple concept of demand and supply.

His Dribbling is just so amazing. The body feint he has on lock is his signature move.

He is basically everything you want in a RW at United.

From what I’ve read so far we are the only team in demand for him. I’d also like to get him this year but not for 80 million. Woodward should be able to negotiate his way out of that ridiculous fee in this climate.

Yeah completely agree with that

It’s not that easy. If you are selling your car for $1000 and someone offers you $200 would you take it? Sure you might be more inclined to accept $800-900 but not less than that.

We're not bidding against other potential buyers for somebody who is for sale. We're bidding against a team who doesn't want to sell him. If we only offer 65m they will happily keep him for another year and sell him for an absolute minimum of 50m next season. Quite likely more if other teams are in for him at that stage.

If anything we should count ourselves lucky that no other team could afford him this year. Next year it would be 3-4 other clubs.

Sancho
Grealish
Doucoure

Good summer?

Or do we prefer:

Sancho
Brooks/Lewis
Sarr

Top one without any doubt but doesn't seem any interest in Doucoure at all.

Going back to Sancho for a second it looks like he can take a good corner as well. We have certainly got some decent options with set pieces now. Would be cool if we were able to add Grealish to that as well.

Dortmund aren't actively looking to sell so we will have to offer them the kind of money that makes them think twice. Another reason is that we have no competition this season but next season other teams could come in for him.

I think its best to get him now even if it meant that we won't spend as much over the next two summers like Liverpool did after they spent heavily on Keita, Allison and Fabinho - now they are just collecting titles without spending much. If we try to be too smart we could antagonize Dortmund and make things difficult even though we have to try to bring the upfront fee down and offer easily achievable bonuses like goals and number of performances milestones like what we did with the Martial deal.

Reading this twitter thread and it kind of highlights how Sancho is not an 80 million player and with good reason. he isn’t explosive enough like the best forwards (mane, mbappe Messi) but is more on the creative side. He also needs a good fullback to get the best out of him. Highly doubt awb is good for this. Interesting thread. Makes me appreciate rashfords explosiveness even more.

I’d still play up though because there is nothing better out there.

That's a terrible analysis. Also just because he isn't explosive like Mane, Mbappe doesn't mean he isn't one. There are very few players who are as explosive as Mane, Mbappe.

Why should we give a feck what this guy from twitter thinks?
Well he's a Liverpool fan, who was thirsty for Sancho last summer, that's got his own blog and 270 followers so he's gotta be a scouting expert :D

Stopped reading at not explosive. He is the epitome of explosive ffs  from a standing start he is very quick, his top end isn't anything to brag about though.

Sancho's top speed was equivalent to Haaland who's considered one of the quickest strikers out there. The fact that he has pace but doesn't rely on it 100% of the time makes him an even more impressive player to me, his pace with the ball has been praised by fellow pro's but his decision making has always been what's set him apart from other 'pace merchants'

Speed has legit never been a deal breaker for playmaker types like him but he does have it in his locker as well. I'd rather a pretty quick and strong dribbler with good footballing awareness as a winger than a speed demon winger that runs around like a headless chicken aimlessly. We've already had enough of that with the likes of James, Lingard and a younger, rawer Rashford

People believe Ake to City because if s runkr

Interesting thread for sure but Sancho is exactly what we need. Martial and Rashy is explosive enough and Bruno can also score goals. So creative winger ? Go for it !

I dont agree this explosiveness part at all though. Not many players are like Mbappe or Mane. Even Hazard or Messi is not as fast as Mbappe. They just have this knack to get around players easily. So not exactly an issue.

Now coming to full backs. It depends on the tactics purely. It doesn't have to be always from the FBs. Bruno or Pogba can drift to that position and support him.

(agree with the sentiment though)

He really dredged the bowel of twitter for that.

Dortmund still have a bargaining power in their hands with 2 years on the contract. Let's say that we are truly the only club interested in paying 80-90 million, we sure as feck won't be the only one willing to pay 60 for example. Another excellent year and you might get more competition next season even if it's only 1 year on the contract and with that price going down. Why would Dortmund sell for around 60 now when you can see them getting similar amount after another great season?

This is looking like a perfect moment to buy and that high price is exactly what gives as the advantage atm.

And am saying all this as someone who is skeptical with astronomical figures and do care how much fee a club is willing to pay in the market as it has effect on the whole budget, future negotiation and in general these record breaking transfers for young players are a big risk.

But, we need a RW and he looks like a potential world class player for years to come. I don't want another Hazard to happen and the club should make the deal even if it means overpaying a bit.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I would offer Dalot as a part of the deal to them. They didn't get to keep Hakimi and Dalot is very similar to him, in terms of playing style. They're both quick, good on the ball attacking fullbacks that can go past their man and aren't all that good defensively.

This is the reasoning that should inform the decision to buy him now even at an astronomical cost. Hazard gave Chelsea how many great seasons and how many players have we brought in to play that role and at what cost? We brought in Di Maria, Kagawa, Mata, Memphis and Mkhitaryan for the role that Hazard would have fulfilled for us and for what? A £6m agent fee?

Seriously this place is obsessed about transfer fee of players. I would never understand it. I wonder if United fans took issue with signings like Rooney, Veron and Ferdinand back in the day.
