Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

If we haven't started negotiating then we haven't learned anything......you would like to think that the basis for a deal has been discussed at some levels and that there is general agreement that a deal can be struck, however, when you hear bits and pieces dropped into the media these are normally leaked to get things moving or apply pressure regarding the fee......

Last week there were noises of JS staying and a large fee and then rumours of Utd looking at Willian - again sounds like posturing from both sides.....could be that Ed is going to go low-balling with daft bonus-related incentives and blaming Covid for the offers, this hasn't been a successful tactic in the past, however, on the flip-side nobody can seriously think that a club is going to pay £100m+ for anybody in the current climate.

I wouldn't expect us to sign anyone now until the EPL season is complete and we know where we are with regards to Champions League - as I think that this is going to have a big bearing on what we can and can't do and also who wants out at Utd and who will come.....

So, Ole - get us into the CL and everything becomes a lot easier........

I would be absolutely stunned if there has been no contact between the clubs or United and Sancho.

Definitely think the best thing we can do is get top 4 (I don’t trust FIFA to uphold a ban) then I can’t see any barriers to Sancho short of Dortmund pricing him out of a move but there whole policy is about buying cheap and selling for profit.

Chelsea:
I don't know why Chelsea are after Kai Havertz for a whopping 75 - 80 million, when they could get a rock-solid CB and a left-back for that much. They already have an abundance of attackers in every position.

United:
At least no other Premiership club has any actual intent in buying Jadon Sancho! This deal needs to happen.

My understanding is that early negotiations are sometimes done through agents so that clubs have an ideas what the other wants.

First it was that Sancho won't choose us over our rivals and posters like myself were living in dream land.

Second it was that we couldn't pay the fee required due to covid 19 and us not having that sort of money which contradicts many journos who have reported that we're in a good position financially to take advantage.

And now people are complaining about us potentially taking too long to complete the signing when the transfer window isn't open and neither the current season completed.

People only like to focus on the negatives

Really think CL isnt a issue at this point.
And its not up to FIFA to uphold the ban, its up to CAS :)

Quite annoying, considering that we could start negotiating at the end of this month, 1 months of negotiations and have something in place by Agust.

If we do manage to get the deal done in October, better late than never but would take 3/4 weeks to integrate him.

I would be amazed if you've not been talking behind the scenes for ages. I don't know this and it is all presumption, but I would guess the clubs negotiated last year and Utd spoke to Sancho's agent to guage interest. Sancho obviously interested but United maybe didn't want to pay out so much in one transfer window and Sancho decided he'd prefer another season at BVB to progress, while BVB thought they'd get a higher price if he had a good season again.

Then after Christmas contacts are probably made again, BVB name their price, Utd agree personal terms and BVB and Utd negotiate. Then covid-19 happens and puts everything on hold while both clubs wait to see how the market is affected. Now they're maybe renegotiating with Utd trying to reduce the price and replace that with add ons while BVB hold out for a higher fee, but all the while they know Sancho wants to go so their position is weaker than it was last summer.

This could all be complete rubbish, but it makes sense to me! There is no way that the two clubs are not talking at the moment.

The truth is that Dortmunds Business model is to buy young talented stars with huge potential and give them game time in a top league whilst there is no pressure to win the league as everyone assume it will be Bayern anyway . Sancho is now at a point where his value is probably peaking , he is playing well , united are willing to spend big on him , and he is at the right point in his existing contract . It's time for Dortmund to Cash in like they did with Dembele . They can now move their attention to signing Bellingham ( or someone similiar ) and nurturing a few other young guns they have there till its time to cash in on them and bring in the next batch . Dont forgot this is the same club that sold both Lewandowski and Hummels to Bayern . This is their game and for this reason I think Sancho is on his way here, a bad season or injury will lower his value or his contract running down . Now is the time and Dortmund will be well aware of that.

Pretty sure they walked out on free transfers at the end of their contracts, much to Dortmands annoyance

Lewandowski run down his contract and went to Bayern for Free getting sth like 20 mln € bonus signing contract. Bayern was trying to buy him year before for 25 mln but BvB decided that they prefer to keep him for that season.

But I agree with the rest, deciding to not sell player for X amount of Money is similar to buying that player from another club.

They want 130 mln € for Sancho.
If we offer them 80 mln € they have to choose if they prefer to have 80 mln or Sancho.

So if he was playing in other team and they were interested would they change that 80 mln for him or not. I guess they would prefer the money i would say 50 mln is max what they would be willing to spend on him.

of course you dont know if that Player is going to work in your team or not. Bvb know that Sancho is working pretty well for them, so the question is how much that is worth to them beside his talent ? if they knew sancho coming from another team will play at the level he is right now what amount would they be willing to pay ? 70 mln ? i would add another 20 United tax and think we can get him for 90 ish.

PS. i really dont care if its gonna be 150 just get him here ASAP

Which was probably the smart decision. He was the league top goalscorer that season, and scored 6 goals in the champions league. His contributions was probably worth close to 25 million on its own.

Sorry My mistake Lewandowski did go on a free and Mats Hummels for 31 . But if anything I dont think Dortmund are going to get stung like that again so even more reason to sell while the price is right

Why can’t the negatiotions start already. Werner to Chelsea all done...

what is Utds problem???

As has been pointed, Werner had a release clause that was set to expire, and the very fact that there was a release clause meant no negotiations were necessary.

With Sancho, I think we're probably waiting to see what state the football world is going to be in come the end of the season. It could be that it's clear next season is going to be delayed, and that may impact the value of Sancho's transfer. Sancho in turn may be more willing to pressure Dortmund into selling if we can offer him what he wants re Champions League football.

Plus the fact that open news regarding a big transfer may well negatively impact our current squad whilst they're still going for 2 very realistic trophies and top 4, I have zero concern about us not openly negotiating for Sancho yet.

I don't understand how everyone is so confident we will get Sancho. They will not reduce their asking price and we will not pay £100m this summer. Am I missing something?

if he dont sign new contact, whats his value next summer? Or the following Jan...

With the news of Sane almost surely leaving Citeh for Munich this summer, I'd hope we don't mess about and manage to finalize things before the end of the league season.

Really wouldn't want even the thought of Sancho going back to Citeh becoming a possibility...

Hazard was sold for £100m with one season left.

I agree his value will drop if they wait. I have said before this is the best time to sell him for BVB to get the highest fee.

But that still doesnt mean that if the fee is £100m United will spend that? yes if it was £80m odd then I could see us going for him all out.

Because we might actually pay £100m this summer.

Exactly may, which is a probability. Some posters on here are acting as if it is just a formality.

I think we'll pay the 100m bonuses to a 70-80m starting fee. The squad is in pretty good shape so we could easily sign 1 player and be done.

I think the two clubs will arrive at a price. Sancho's heart clearly isn't in Dortmund. It's not like losing him would render them useless. So the choice is sell Sancho now and use the money to invest in your squad or keep an uninterested Sancho and risk losing him for cheaper given the uncertain future of the transfer market caused by COVID

He's not going back there but I think the media would stir up alot of rumours about a possible transfer that would be annoying

I have a sneaky suspicion that City might be in for him too now that Sane looks like he is on his way out.

Sancho will be another consideration and preparing bid story. Media will be using those two headlines all summer. All because its United and it generates so much clicks.

Obviously. It's up to people to not go into meltdown saying its taking too long and buying into all the crap. This deal isn't getting done for a few months yet, people have to be patient.

Yeah I think a starting fee around the £80-£85m mark with it going up to around £100m with add ons

Just fecking pay it. It’s been long enough that we’ve not had a proper RW.

Yeah it is at least eight years since we had anything on the RW when Valencia had a quality season, however you could probably say it is even longer than that because he was probably playing more of a RWB role
