CL football is over rated to be honest. He can stay at Dortmund and play CL football if he really want's to seeing as there's no guarantee us nor Chelsea will qualify as the moment but will he win the CL? Most likely not.I think that price is fair to be honest. I would have thought his willingness to join a club not guaranteed CL would be more of a stumbling block, rather than haggling over 20m. If he waits a year he can probably join any club he wants, as his price would drop significantly and he won't be short of suiters.
Is it worth moving to a club that has serious ambitions to win every competition they play in and are looking to build a squad capable of doing that? In my opinion yes. As football fans, for some reason we love to only consider the next season without any regard to the fact the player is signing a 4 to 5 year contract.
If we don't play CL football next season, do we expect to be out much longer than that? Personally I think we'll qualify anyway this year but I fully expect us to be there the following year with the improvements we've been making.
Not playing CL football will have no bearing on this deal apart form Sancho wages I would expect.
