Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I think that price is fair to be honest. I would have thought his willingness to join a club not guaranteed CL would be more of a stumbling block, rather than haggling over 20m. If he waits a year he can probably join any club he wants, as his price would drop significantly and he won't be short of suiters.
CL football is over rated to be honest. He can stay at Dortmund and play CL football if he really want's to seeing as there's no guarantee us nor Chelsea will qualify as the moment but will he win the CL? Most likely not.

Is it worth moving to a club that has serious ambitions to win every competition they play in and are looking to build a squad capable of doing that? In my opinion yes. As football fans, for some reason we love to only consider the next season without any regard to the fact the player is signing a 4 to 5 year contract.

If we don't play CL football next season, do we expect to be out much longer than that? Personally I think we'll qualify anyway this year but I fully expect us to be there the following year with the improvements we've been making.

Not playing CL football will have no bearing on this deal apart form Sancho wages I would expect.

Most reports have said €120m for the past month or so.
Nah, reliable sources have been saying €100m for months.

The Daily Star get a hold of that, turn it to £'s, then the Metro get ahold of that fee and convert £100m to €'s and here we are.

I'm just waiting for the £250m including wages and signing on fee's

Not going to get invested and continue to convince myself it isn't happening to avoid the heartbreak

Not a chance this is happening or will happen . Why do you do this yourselves ?
Do you reckon we will get Havertz inste

Just enjoy it , loads of different scenarios that can play out over the summer. As I said before just treat it like buying a lotto ticket enjoy the idea of winning . All harmless fun

A single season without the CL is maybe not the entirety of the situation. He'll have to be convinced that we're actually going to challenge for the Prem and CL, and let's be honest, we've not been anywhere near doing so for seven years. Yes, we started to look better from Bruno-signing onwards, but there is so much margin for improvement. Unless he is sold a convincing and realistic vision, if he's about titles, he may well wait a season and sign for a club already challenging for major silverware.

What would people think to letting Bellingham go to Dortmund if it meant a lower price for Sancho

Sancho-Greenwood-Rashford

You’d pay £115m for that front 3 - just pretend we didn’t get the other two for nothing!

People have said this multiple times. It’s seemingly more up to Bellingham where he goes than it is up to us.

Do you think Van Der Beek could play in a similar position to him or are they completely different players

I think it is both similar and different. Firstly, playing in the middle nowdays means both capable in attack and reasonable in defence regardless of "position". However, Bellingham being so young I believe can still easily adapt to play in a different "main position". But As far as I know they play about the same roles.

I wonder if we could get Bellingham in a few years time after he has done the Sancho thing in Germany

£115m in this climate? Take a walk. Squeeze them, don't care if it takes a while.

115m.... sounds like a joke. In this climate, he's not worth anything more than 80m. I rather we invest that sort of money on two very good players. We could have gotten Werner and Van De Beek and still saved money.
And you could argue that neither would be guaranteed starters.

Sancho ticks all the boxes in an area of the pitch we have literally abandoned for years he’s a guaranteed starter and not only that he improves our starting 11. Dortmund know it.

We'll get it done. But it won't be 115m and it obviously won't be all in one lump sum. I don't see us risking waiting another year even in the current climate seeing as rivals are making moves now, and would Dortmund be happy to sell for even less next year? Seems daft.

This has all the hall marks of the Pogba transfer saga. I think we will sign him this summer, for anywhere between £90m-£105m and both parties will be satisfied with the deal.

Dortmund are posturing right now.

The club you’re describing doesn’t sound like Man Utd. Is it 3 Champions League qualifications in 6 seasons? There are hideous doubts about the club compared with others. Aside from the Pogba transfer, where the name is huge and the payback has not been, it is only with Solskjaer and the signings he has made that the club has started looking anything like its old self again in terms of quality of personnel. I would say CL qualification is vital to getting Sancho, if a club is most of a decade more often out of the champions league than in it, they’re clearly a fading force.

No club at this climate would take him at that price, play the waiting game they're obviously bleeding with revenue loss. They should come down on price at some point.

I don't get it. Did people expect anything less than 115m. Pre Covid the price being thrown around by the Caf was between 130-150m. Dortmund have no reason to reduce their valuation of him. I'm opening my mind that we won't get him because I don't see us spending 115m on him

We spent £80m on Maguire. I don't see why we shouldn't spend £100m on Sancho when he's rated the second most valuable player in the world after Mbappe.

We need this. We can't be silly and cheapen out on a measly £10-15m. We have to take advantage of the current situation (like Chelsea) and but when others cannot. It's a time where City and Liverpool are not spending. Let's do it.

If we get this done, of course Dortmund are going to come out from the gate with the price set high. We may have started negotiations. We may not not have. Obviously for us the key is the player. Dortmund could keep the player, but the price differential could be huge and Sancho might be distracted or even just get injured. But when does the window even open??? No idea.

So of course if they ask 115 it's not entirely set in stone Nothing suggests or is rumored that Dortmund would keep him if no fee was agreed because they know financially everything is too uncertain. If we offered say 90m - give or take...however you structure it...of course that would interest them. They're not stupid. But also they would need to decide what to do with the money. If sancho is announced then you devalue the money because if you want to spend it, they just ask for more but maybe they'll want to put it in the bank. Who knows.

As for Bellingham. Yes, it's up to him where he wants to go but as a Club we can remove that choice and that would help Dortmund certainly though he could decide to stay at Birminham.....But if you are Dortmund, and United you see an opportunity to develop and sell on for big money.

And neither play RW or are as good as him

Only the small matter of a pandemic that has seen a sizable portion of our income stream crash.
Under normal circumstances, I would be confident but these are not normal circumstances. If Dortmund don't budge on that figure or structure, this deal is not happening.

The club could go buy 2 players amounting to £100m and the fans will not be convinced about them. E.g Grealish, DVB, Havertz. Or we could go £100m on one player and the fans will be over the moon.

It is quite clear where the biggest problem in this team is and will be going forward. We had a glaring hole in the midfield for years and spent £90m on Pogba, we had a CB problem and got £80m Maguire, we should go and spend the £100m on Sancho if we have the money.
