Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Yeah it’s never really about selling shirts is it. It’s about which name the person buying a shirt anyway puts on the back of theirs.

I always found the shirt sales thing weird.
Especially if its a new kit design as well.
I remember reading thats why Messi yearly shirt sales were always underwhelming since a lot of fans already had him on their back.

United sold an average of 1.8m shirts each year over the last 5.

A big name signing will eat up a lot of that. Like when we signed Depay and he was among the top shirt sellers in the world that summer.

Right thats 108 million quid over 5 years before tax and deductions. Decent revenue yes sure, but Uniteds wage bill is over 330 million a year.

How much money do you project on Merchandise? The rule of Thumb is that a club will get about £12/13 per shirt.
So if the club sell half a million Sancho shirts they will make about £6million - before tax and other deductions. Is it plausible to sell 500,000 Sancho shirts. NO.
The justification of an exorbitant fee on the strength of merchandise is a non starter.
I meant all of the benefits made from signing a player - image rights/merchandise/ more viewers/ attracting sponsors / potential higher league position / attracting other players etc. Tangible + Intangible value.

Look I am not saying dont buy him but there is a limit as to what United will pay and the money men within will decide that. Ive no idea how they do it but as you mention there are so many variables to consider, especially in this Covid era - there may not be a football match as we know it for a long time. Large transfer fees are not on the table until this poxy virus is under control

Seems like when the Chelsea link died a death you are now kind of hoping he stays?
The financial situation works both ways, a lot of clubs have to balance the books over the next 18 months.
mate i still think if/when he leaves we are well within a shout. The Chelsea link didnt die, in Germany we were reported as well in the race. But this is feck all to do with club loyalty or whatever, its a global pandemic. If Dortmund need to get money, then they are not going to find a club to pay 100m odd for Sancho. Because clubs, this summer, will not do that, IMO and the opinion of many others. Also, as reported in Germany last day or so, Dortmund are fine through this crisis, no financial issues at all. They do not need to sell

Its not hard to understand. You cannot have clubs furloughing staff, going bust potentially, losing revenue because of covid; and then go splash 100m on player. Your own chairman has said the same thing. His words alone should be enough to tell you, 100m signings are a no no this summer, for everyone. HMRC are even threatening clubs over it ffs. Living in a bubble if any of us expect our clubs to spend huge money this summer.

Ed came out today and pullled back on that statement.
All of those examples do not apply to us anyway.

Been a bit of talk in Spain today about Dortmund being interested in Ansu Fati. Barcelona are in a mess and have to do a fire sale. Fati would be a perfect Sancho replacement and I’m sure Dortmund would turn him into a player.

If we didn’t need to go after Sancho this summer id really be tempted to lean on Barcelona for Frenkie. We could bully them with an offer of £100m I reckon.

Just give it up man.

For me we have no excuse on this. We haven't owned a player who can play RW to a ln acceptable level since Nani.

This in itself shows how unserious this club can be. So of we go another season without signing a starting quality RW it shows how much of a joke we are sometimes.

Also if Pogba is used to find the transfer it is very poor too. Of Pogba is going we should be signing Sancho and a replacement like Grealish or even a top DM.

Big summer for us. Hope the excuses don't fly like last season.

Woodward is at the excuses already,so be prepared for the worst.

All I'm saying is you cannot swap our best player for another when we are so far off.

If we can't afford much due to the virus buy Sancho and keep Pogba and call it a day.

We haven't owned a right winger since Nani. It's absolutely mental.

Ole will push hard for him, I think it’s going to happen unless the player decides to stay or go elsewhere.

You just know Dave is doing God's work.

Theae are the things I talk about when people come out with the whole ‘his mates play for Chelsea’ or whatever. Football fans are so removed that the only friends that can process are fellow footballers you have played with.

Sancho’s real ‘best friends’ are probably not even football players, like the majority of footballers tbh.

Totally agree and I struggle to see how people do not realise this.
I think there is not going to be much movement at all in the transfer market for the foreseeable future.

My guy Dave definitely deserves commission for the transfer.

‘Were’ being the operative word here. Chelsea’s name haven’t been mentioned in the reports coming out of Germany for a while now, i.e. the link has died.

Last reports I saw credited to ESPN are that Chelsea know he's United bound and have given up

I thought it was well known Chelsea had given up which is why they signed Ziyach?

Well yeah you would think but the Chelsea lot think otherwise, doesn't matter they have Pulisic and CHO either, the fact he grew up in a one hour vicinity was enough to convince them he'd pick them

Well Pulisic has come out and said he's off if Chelsea pursue this rumoured Coutinho loan/perm deal and there's a whisper doing the rounds on journalist hosted podcasts that after CHO did his Achilles in, he's not the same in pace or ability. Which would make sense as to why they're looking at Coutinho.

Fact of the matter is, Ambromavich isn't even allowed in the country anymore and he's hardly put any money into the running of the club for a while so where are they going to get daft money to spend on Sancho?

See Paul Ince up to his usual tricks in media today. Sancho should think if United is the club for him because he can’t know if Ole, unlike Pep and Klopp, can take a player to the next level. To prove his point he cites the case of Roy Hodgson taking him to another level at Inter:eek:. He was a fine player for us a handful of seasons, but the man really is a tedious tool.

There's also been a bit of paper talk about Ferran Torres. I wouldn't say this necessarily means much, as they have been quite open about being open to a (big money) sale and thus been linked with possible Sancho replacements for about a year now. Even if there is actually some truth to these stories we don't know whether it's due to a transfer being imminent or whether the club is just preparing for all eventualities.

Of course.

Is that what the slurring thick c*nt said? What a clown.

I probably dislike him as much as any past player.

You can just tell he’s thick as they come, can hardly put words together half the time and when he does there is never anything remotely insightful.

Bitter cnut cos SAF fcuked him off.

In the Mirror. I won’t link because, we’ll, the Mirror and I already feel shame enough. But just to quote the most heinous excerpt:

“To use myself as an example, when I went to Inter Milan, I became a far better player under Roy Hodgson.

"He truly took my game to a next level, I felt fitter, stronger, my awareness went up tenfold.”

It’s clear he’s a bitter cnut, but the utter spudity to say that out loud, even if he’s stupid enough to believe it, is mind blowing.

Anyway, Jadon Sancho - I hope we get him just to piss off Paul Ince.

So every single Manchester United fan want to sign Sancho - but not Ince. That could help Ole succeed at the club, you know, and he won´t have any of that.

Dave should really get a new vest that doesn't look like it has the word "RAPE" on it at first glance...
BAPE = A Bathing Ape. It’s an expensive fashion brand.

Drip, fella. You either have it you don’t.

I hate Grime for it was the death of Garage... but if it's performers convince Jadon to sign for United then happy days. Get him on fifa with Stormzy now.

Hang on - how is he meeting with Dave under lockdown?

It's from the summer.

Think it’s pretty obvious that Dave’s work here is essential.
