Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Can see Sancho at Chelsea next summer if they get top four. Solskjaer's managerial capabilities looking like it will collapse this season. This clubs an embarrassment said it last month.
I can see a possibility where we work out a ‘Pulisic-style’ transfer with Dortmund in January. They get what they want for him, he stays on loan for the remainder of the season and we get our player at the end without any haggling with other clubs.
Slim chance though if the reported exorbitant agent fees are really a thing. Might also depend on the level of development CHO shows within that period.

Personally I think there's something to the story that the intermediaries struck a deal and then Woodward tried to go lower.
It'll trickle out in dribs and drabs all our antics during the window regarding this shambles, I think.

What's really bugging me is we've gone in there trying to strong arm a club who see themselves as something of a big deal (whether that perception of self is justified or not is subjective) and thought we could play the big shot and make a statement whilst doing so. What's actually happened is they've made a name off our backs as a club who won't be dicked around and we've come out looking even worse for future endeavours than we went into the window with! We've also soured relations with them.

If there is another round of us going in for Sancho, I bet we take heed of their stance in a way we didn't this time, but I think the ship has sailed as the player cannot be amused, plus our turmoil as a club is not enticing. Bayern's chase for Hudson-Odoi is going to be the inlet for Sancho to go there.

It's mind-boggling watching Woodward in such an esteemed position making hash after hash after hash with no comeuppance.

This transfer never really felt like we got close to a deal?

If we dont sign a RW this window, how many years will that make it since we did? And I'm referring to genuine first teamer, not the like of Dan James who can play there.

No chance. They bowed out of the running pre-lockdown because of the finances involved, what makes you think they would come in for him now, when they are absolutely stacked in those positions and already have CHO who needs the games as is, and is a similar talent?

Lmfao im glad youre all confident hes gonna be a Chelsea player out of nowhere. Not happeneing unless bayern actually pay big money for cho

Were they bigging him up as one of the biggest talents around? Can see Bayern spending decent fee on him.

They pulled out because they needed multiple transfers. They're currently playing Werner and Mount wide aren't they, CHO started at weekend but I'm not sure Lampard fancies him long term he's started about 10 games in the past 12 months.

Sancho Havertz Pulisic
Werner

CHO, Mount, Tammy on the bench.

They seem obsessed with him for some reason. Even their manager was talking about him the other day. So the intrest is real.
If cho is good enough for bayern hes deffo good enough for us.
Remains to be seen what happens this season because he will play a load of games. I hope he kicks on and makes it here.

You're forgetting that they signed Ziyech this window. They're stacked in attack without Sancho. Front four already costs around 200M. Spending another 100M on top of that to put one of them on the bench isn't going to happen.

So does this thread close after today? How sad... Record breaking nothingness!

Us trying to get him this window after getting beaten 6-1 and before that 3-1 (by palace) is the transfer equivalent of Anderson saying "feck feck feck" to a girl. We only have money to tempt him.

He won’t go to Chelsea. They don’t need him.

I could absolutely see Bayern trying for him.
They don't need him now; no CHO and dropping someone else to the bench to make way for Sancho is a no-brainer. The circumstance for Sancho going there were not there this window, Bayern will ensure they are by next summer because they seem particularly enamoured with CHO who will facilitate the merry go round.

Sancho wants home (England) so I don't think the giant European clubs have a have chance, personally.

CHO will go to Bayern and Chelsea will sign Sancho.

I honestly can’t believe how they have fecked this one up.

I reckon there will be a briefing within the next few days to say that the club was worried about Sancho’s behaviour as it isn’t fitting of a Manchester United player.

CHO will probably leave for about £80m and pay the majority of the fee.

Mount, Werner, Pulisic, Ziyech, Havertz, CHO - they are absolutely stacked.

Werner isn't a striker - he's someone who operates best off the left a la Rashford. Pulisic is their Hazard replacement, who can likewise play off the wing. CHO their hometown hope who was the pick of the England golden generation which includes Sancho. Then you have Mount, Havertz and Ziyech who all occupy those same spaces. They literally have no room for anyone else, considering pretty much all of them came in to the side in the last year or so.

Can see a Salah->Barca->Sancho->Liverpool domino happening. If I were one Liverpool's higher ups, that's what I'd try to make happen

Sancho literally usurps every single one of those players; he goes straight into the team and someone else makes way for him. Doesn't matter how many are there in relation to him as it's whoever is at the bottom of that group who gets bumped off and probably has to go find himself another club.

There aren't many clubs who won't buy better than they have when it becomes available; Chelsea certainly won't let him slip if he's there to be had. CHO subsidises a large portion of the fee by himself, too and his wage plus change then go to Sancho.

It's a no brainer.

With barca posting losses of 97 mill, i doubt that they will be spending 100 mill next season on a Salah about to turn 30.

You think players actually base CAREER moves on a result like yesterday? That's wonderfully naive.

They did just that a few months ago when he was very much available to anyone who would pay him what he wanted...

CHO won't fetch the sort of fee you're thinking of either unless he absolutely blitzes the league, in which case, Chelsea would most likely not bother with the purchase when they have someone just as good in their own ranks.

I have a feeling that this is the one that will stick out and be referenced when people talk about how badly run we are/were.

He could conceivably go and tear it up somewhere next year after moving for 140m and the narrative will be "how did Manchester United not sign him in the summer of 2020"

Currently it looks like the only reason why Dortmund insisted on intermediaries was their frustration with United's representatives. The huge agent fees could very well be off the table if a different club shows interest in Sancho. Granovskaia seems to be highly professional and efficient as a negotiator.

They've just got themselves a full on attacking line; this was never the window when they would be going in for Sancho, hence we had a clear run with every other club who could contest for him having other priorities or superior players already lining up for them (Liverpool with Mane and Salah, for example).

It doesn't matter what CHO actually fetches, it's still a solid chunk towards Sancho. He just signed a new contract worth £120k p/w, was it? Get that reallocated and topped up for Sancho, and he's facilitated the move.
