Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

basically, we thought we could bully Dortmund, now we have egg on our face. They gave us their price, we tried to feck them over, they told us to meet the price or feck off. Now we’ve given them no time to sign a replacement. I don’t blame them here. The blame falls solely on our recruitment team

Totally agree with this who in their right minds would let a player like that go at this point in the window and not have enough time to replace them madness.

Jees, tensions are running high in here aren’t they?

It was intended to be tongue in cheek but maybe I have offended you for which I am eternally sorry. OK now?
Fair enough haha

Can't really tell who's being sarcastic or not nowadays though, the amount of people who are saying lock the thread and being serious about it.
Apologies, as i didn't even see it was meant to be tongue in cheek.

Jadon has to stink it up at BVB now. That's the only way this will go through in my view.

I'd say he's doing a good job of that if this 'illness' isn't real.

Missed 2 games and 2 days of training (allegedly). If thats not kicking up a bit of a stink and letting the management know you're feelings, i don't know what is. (assuming he genuinely isn't ill though!)

Dortmund hold all the cards, and the player! If, and it's a big if! The club set their stall out to get him this season? Why the fcuk are we now in this, once again, situation were we look like tits to the rest of the world when it come to paying for a player WE have pouched? It has never made any sense to me. It just, once again, gives others a chance to attempt to pull down, Manchester United, this should never happen, period.

So if this is to get done it gets done on Monday right? Do deals ever get done over the weekend?

spurs are similar to Dortmund, in that they have the time and space to buy some of the younger talented players and give them game time.

I suspect however, that their hit rate is similar to a lot of clubs, we just remember the successes. Whilst it’s going back a number of years, didn’t they really waste the Bale money that they got?
Exactly this. Not every youngster that goes to Dortmund makes it big. We just see the ones that do.

Dortmund can afford to bring in inexperienced youngsters every year because they’ll always finish top 4 and normally 2nd. Their target is never 1st. It’s only a hope. A lot less pressure to be able to give youngsters a chance.

Am I getting this right? So Zorc is saying that they will make no concession to the player during covid and are sticking to pre covid, 2019 transfer deadlines. A stipulation in his one year contract extension that no one knew existed.
If I was Sancho I would be pretty pissed at that.

Yeah, if he’s not sick it looks more like the Dembele deal. But BvB still got paid then, and we still need Joel G to sign the check.

Rarely, but I think the weekend before the deadline is probably a bit different
Ok cheers, not that I think it’ll happen on Monday but I guess this is all good for the likes of sky and the wider media in general, they’re going to milk the feck out of this.

One thing that makes me believe that this is not over and that Sancho is pushing for an exit is his Twitter. It's totally silent. Usually if a player is ill he'll wish his teammates good luck for the game, retweet the result, post a picture of himself in front of his TV, but no tweets for super cup, no tweets today. Something is definitely cooking.

Hasnt posted for 2 weeks which is unusual for him

Yep. Was obvious from the start that it was like this, especially when it was revealed that he had a contract til 2023 and not 22. They have all the power here, and always did.

Again what is he really expecting?
Does he truly think that Dortmund would tell one lot of media one thing and him another? Does he think he's special enough to get exclusive stories?
he's truly stupid if he thinks that Dortmund are going to tell him anything different that "He's not for sale". Sky truly are utter pricks nowadays

The August 10 deadline was a month and a half after the Bundesliga had finished, a little over a month before the new season started. That's like setting a deadline for early July in a "normal" season. Which I think is entirely reasonable: if they have to let one of their star players go, they want do it without disrupting their preparations.

As someone else mentioned a few pages ago, we announced Ronaldo's sale on June 9 way back then so it's certainly possible to get a huge deal done early in the window.

I still don't buy this whole deadline crap.
If someone, not only United, but anyone was to slap down €120m then he's gone., Whether that be today, tomorrow or Monday, it doesn't matter.
Dortmund are known for their BS talking, and if a player kicks up a fuss, they let them leave. In my opinion, and thats all it is, my opinion, this is all part of the "Sancho is a bad guy who refused to play" ploy.

Haven't they said they want most of the money upfront? either way I’d think 20m a season for 5 years won’t be accepted.
They didn't say that. You read that in the papers. It's not really how books are run.

And then he’s into the final year of the contract.. so they get 50m max for him..

I don’t think they’ll turn down a guaranteed 100m if the bid comes. That isn’t an outlandish statement
You mean like Chelsea didn't get more than £50m for Hazard because he only had one year left, right?

Yes and no.

Would they have struck a deal one week after the deadline? Most likely. Two weeks after the deadline? Possibly. Three days before the end of the transfer window? No chance in hell.

Why not?
If a player is unhappy and the club knows it, then if a huge deal is there for the taking, they'd take it. You don't want to keep an unhappy player in your team that could potentially cause problems.
The deadline is 5th October. The window is open until then. ALL players have a price, it doesn't matter who it is. If the right money comes in, they'll be sold, especially in these COVID times.

Bit odd to basically publicly admit a player wanted to leave...assuming all is not well in the “Jadon is only too happy to stay” camp.

Dortmund made it clear from the start that Sancho could leave for €120m by August 10, probably expecting that United would just pay that steep but not entirely unreasonable sum for a player they had been chasing for over a year now. There wasn't really anything new in that statement, other than confirming what they had already told their fans via reliable media partners anyway.
