They'd look at the player, consider his level and regard, and price him accordingly.The oddity is that most people would agree that £108 million in the 'current climate' is too much, no big deal, no other club is coming close to spending that much on a single transfer, so why should we, etc.
It's all this stringing along that is winding people up now, if we just got a defender and attacking player of some description, even on short deals, then fine, we would have a very good first team, and potentially a bit of decent backup.
But as it stands I genuinely do not understand what they are up to leaving us short as the season starts, and letting this drag so long.
You want ballon d'or level (or potential players), be prepared to pay their worth.
We are playing a game of brinkmanship, perhaps, but we're simply moronic if we've gone in wide-eyed and bushy tailed, but I doubt that's the case, and the issue is the structure of the deal not the price itself.
