I take this as very much a case of the club saying "look we've talked about it officially now feck off" and means little in the way of actually pushing to sign him.
I think we'll end up paying what Dortmund want in the end. I just hope BVB agree to it and it leaves them enough time to bring in a worthy replacement.
That's where a DOF could help assist the manager in convincing a player that our club is right for their development. Having a DOF like Edwin Van Der Sar along with Ole who have played and won at the Club would do a better job at convincing a young player like Bellingham that United is the right place for his development. I'm sure there's a significant drop off from Ole to Judge in terms of quality discussion about footballing matters, and I'm sure players and agents notice. Our club is incompetent when it comes to transfers for the first team there's no point defending Ed and Judge no matter how far up their arse you are.

We aren't signing Sancho. Dembele would be the only alternative I would get excited about tbh. If he can sort his injury problems out, we could potentially have a player who is just as good as Sancho. He's for sure in the same talent category. Liverpool are doing some great business.
I'm probably one of the most negative posters on here regarding the chances of us signing Sancho, but I wouldn't take too much from those comments. I actually listened to the whole presser, he also spoke about being in constant negotiations with the board, knew how hard they were working because the quality of player we are trying to bring in is difficult to bring in etc.
This comment basically means that if we can't get them over the line, which is a possibility, we need to focus on the areas we can influence
It's a well known fact that United's negotiators are incompetent - the body of evidence is too large to ignore, from paying more for Fellaini than his clause stipulated, to missing out on Thiago, missing out on Kroos, missing out on Klopp, signing Sanchez, missing out on Maguire only to sign him a year later for more money, not being able to shift any players that other teams actually want like Smalling, not being able to shift any deadwood like Jones, Rojo, Andreas etc, etc. Look at how Chelsea or Liverpool operate and compare with Ed's Amateur Comedy Club.
What pisses me off is bots like you who lap everything the club does "because they must know what they're doing" while calling others 'moaners'. If you call someone a 'moaner' you should be prepared to be called names in return.

They're a selling club. They will bite your hand off if you came with £108m offer in the last second of the market.

2) not a single club but only City, Chelsea & United can afford Sancho for the price they want.
3) Sancho wants to move back to England one day even if he isnt exactly pushing for it right now
4)only United can fit him in to their squad due to space as well as history ( Chelsea & City)
5). Dortmund are going to fight for ever single penny possible and say yes last minute.
6) I'd say we are under 100 million ( at 90 million) and Dortmund are secretely happy with it but are negotiating to take it over 100 million.

If we get him for the full asking price as a result of finally realizing we are going to be left fighting for 4th by the skin of our teeth this season, it's going to be annoying that we'll have played a bunch of games already by then.

Sad part is even if we get this done now and just pay the amount questions have to be asked why we didn't just do it sooner.

Missing out on Klopp has nothing to do with the finance team, it was because the CEO couldn't sell the club properly to a proper manager.
Signing Sanchez was lauded by everyone at that time but moaners like you will use hindsight to death and try to make a useless point. It has nothing to with the finance dept again. The board was comfortable giving those wages to a 'then' great player Sanchez and you can't really blame them for Sanchez's poor form. But yeah keep moaning.
Fellaini can't be justified but it's more on the transfer planning committee I would say, which couldn't get Moyes the first choice targets he wanted.
Of course I have my fair share of problems with the negotiators and CEO and I bash them all the time. But I won't sit here behind a keyboard pretending to know better than people whose job is to manage millions on a daily basis.

Questions have to be asked as to why we didn’t just immediately pay a 108m quid British transfer record during a global pandemic back in August when there is a big black hole in our finances? We’re probably still finding out the impact on sponsorship deals/TV deals and worst case scenario planning what a further stoppage would mean to us let alone the 140m already gone if crowds don’t come back this season. City still haven’t signed Koulibaly, Liverpool have only just found the cash to sign Thiago for 20m...I’m all for criticising how things have gone the last 8 years but maybe we can cut the club a bit of slack on this one.
Sancho, a left back and Donny is a fantastic window and would be 3/5 signings we need to go into next season challenging. This is a marathon not a sprint.
To be fair the 3 games before the deadline are all winnable. So hopefully we can take all 9 points.

Couldn't agree more. Their transfer window work depends completely on this now. Get him, window went well. If you don't get him cuz you were trying to save 10 m Euros..... well that will be another defining moment of the glazers' time.

Being an MUTV subscriber for the last 10+ years, they are under total glazer control, they talk about what fans ask them to talk about on call ins and if there are ongoing talks in newspapers they may give a potential transfer a mention.

I'd say the lack of movement in the transfer is probably associated with the lack of movement out of the club. Ed was probably hoping to have moved smalling, rojo etc out for say 35m so that it would offset some of the costs. As this has not happened so far we just don't want to go ahead and spend that amount of money in one go, especially as finances are stretched with corona.
Liverpool have left it late to start buying, at one point they didn't have money for Thiago and all of a sudden there close to buying Jota and a defender in the space of a week. So things could move just as quickly for us if the club allow it.

I feel this is another Woody special briefing regarding Telles and Sancho, as the club are being put under pressure with the likes of Liverpool signing Thiago and close to sealing Jota (very underrated player), Spurs signing Reguilon and Bale and Chelsea with their 6 new signings.
I don't believe we will actually end up signing him. I think the club is playing with the fans, just when the pressure is increased they put out we are still negotiating bullshit to calm the fans.
As a club we are just shambles, each season we fail to sell our deadwood and we also fail to close deals and every transfer of ours is a long saga. We seriously need to upgrade on our negotiators as consistently we fail to sell players or recoup any money for our players, whereas every club under the sun is selling their deadwood for 15-20M. (Arsenal selling Martinez for 20M and Liverpool selling their young Rb for 13M).
We have our first match of the season today and we have only managed to complete one signing which we mostly due to assistance by VDS and Ajax being a one off club which was extremely accommodating and reasonable.
The question is, if we knew our limitation regarding finances why not move to target B or C and close them. This way we have let all the secondary targets move to other clubs and if we fail to land our primary target, which we have been tracking for 2 years it will make us the laughing stalk of world football, specially after the stupid briefing at the start of the window of being best positioned to take advantage of this window.

I'm surprised nobody has stumped up the £15-20m for Smalling. He had a pretty good season at Roma and at 30 years old probably has at least 3 years left at that level. I'm not sure we can really expect any kind of fee for Rojo. I personally would keep Lingard for now there is a decent player there and hes shown it he just had an awful 2019/20, although his wages are a joke considering what he's actually acheived. United are still hamstring by stupid deals for Jones and Mata (who's wages could have been allocated to keeping Herrera).
Despite the above I don't see that having any bearing on the Sancho move as the wages would have been weighed up way before this window began.
This. I don't understand how the other bigger clubs wrap up their deals days after the window opens or sometimes even before (Werner, Ziyech, Ake, Torres etc) and yet united take forever. Take for example Havertz at Chelsea. Yes that took longer than the above mentioned deals, but there was no saga, it dragged on a couple of weeks and then was signed, Havertz was in training and able to start the first game of the season. Surely United knew the asking price for Sancho before this window opened, they also must have known what they are willing to pay so what is the point in dragging it out for months only to get fleeced in October for a player who has no pre-season with the team and comes into a squad 3/4 games into its season, all for the same price as you could have had him at the start of August? Makes absolutely no business sense.
I get the sense there was an agreement at 120m pre-COVID which was a good price. Now, we are looking at the uncertainty and balking.
You can’t blame Dortmund for sticking to their agreed price. Especially since we will not get Sancho if he is sold next summer when the market has more certainty and Barca/RM have money.
Another way to see it is if you believe he will be worth around 120m or above next year (I certainly do), you buy him now for 120m because you have the opportunity and he improves your team this year. However, the Glazers are rather chintzy and would prefer to look like good deal makers in the short term.

I think the ship sailed one or two weeks back. The Bundesliga season has already started. And Bayern thrashing Schalke 8-0 in the first match was probably the final nail in the coffin preventing Dortmund from selling their most important asset now.
I think point about Klopp not been impressed by United's pitch is overstated it's was more of timing thing as well we approached him while he was still with Dortmund . He wasn't in job when he was hired by Liverpool and his quotes about United could be nothing more than endearing himself to Liverpool fan Base.
