If we can’t afford it and Dortmund aren’t budging then fair enough. There are 4 other positions that need strengthening and about 7 players that need to be moved on so how about we actually do something about that instead of banging on about being relaxed and all this nonsense? If you’d told me we’d go into the first game of the season signing one player and selling one player I’d have been astounded. Not sure why as it’s basically typical of us but it does still surprise me after Ole’s end of season comments and making it clear what he thought of the bench options.

I disagree with this. It's a fact that we were one of the clubs that could take advantage of the transfer market in this covid environment. Ole even said it himself. I mean the club didn't furlough any staff and there was no wage cuts. So we clearly can afford it. Your argument is just a pathetic excuse for the board's ineptitude in the transfer market.
The 'masterclass' statement from BVB illustrates that they are equally engaging participants as United. I've maintained all along that it will be a massive financial risk for BVB to retain Sancho on their books for next season and that BVB want to sell just as much as United want to buy.
It's also not quite as simple as United coming back next summer; if we choose plan B and invest in other players, it’s doubtful that United can generate so much extra profit next season to buy him. What happens to the RW we bought this window?
It's getting very close now to the brinksmanship tipping point, and BVB will be gutted if they push us so far that we truly walk away and spend our cash with other clubs. That would be a DisasterClass for them.

Yep, I think this too. It's a game of chicken at the moment and someone has to blink first. Dortmund don't really want to keep him and potentially lose Haaland and Sancho next summer in one go do they? How is that good PR for a club that has ambitions to win a title all of a sudden?
And assuming BVB are very keen to seek and this is all negotiating posture, losing this game of chicken is a massive loss for them as their isn’t another buyer in the market.

I'm not sure how keeping Sancho for one more year is a financial risk for Dortmund because next year they will get the same amount for him.

I can 100 percent see Dortmund keeping him till next summer. I firmly believe that we won’t get him if we don’t pay the €120.
If they lose him and Haaland next summer they’ll still have a shite load of cash and a decent enough team and scouts to make sure their ship keeps going forward.
They can say what they like about keeping him, but if we cough up what they value him at then we will get him.
I think the only ones who’ll look silly here is us. Even if we get him at a last day panic situation it’s still embarrassing as to how we do things.
