It doesn't even matter when Dortmund sell Sancho, the fact that it's completely inevitable they'll sell him and really only because of a pandemic are they not selling him this year (potentially, still a few weeks remaining in the current window).
I can understand if you're holding on to players if you're legitimately trying to win something or are on the cusp of it, but Dortmund aren't on the cusp of winning a Bundesliga, CL, Europa League, their domestic cups, etc. They came close to winning the Bundesliga during Kovac's tenure, which was really poor and the team had a downturn in performances. In DFB Pokal and CL, they've crashed out in the Round of 16 in both competitions the past 3 seasons.
All this to say, Dortmund will sell. And when they do sell Sancho, I hope they get their 120M Euros and nothing less. What's the point of playing hardball with your asset and putting a value on them if it isn't met?
As for United, they need to find a stop gap solution for one year if they intend to try and sign Sancho again in the coming winter or next summer window...or completely move on from him and go to their alternative choices.
