Jadon Sancho (Out)

Yes, he clearly already was declining when he moved to Bayern. But that offside issue I mentioned wasn't due to physical decline, it was pretty obvious that he just wasn't used to the typical defending when he arrived.

Kane in comparison was used to drop deep all the time and had the awareness where (not) to move, for him it was easier to adapt.

Kane himself has mentioned the one thing that surprised him in Germany is the amount of pressing they do. All teams look to press aggressively and that will ofcourse create situations where there is space at the back.

One would handle it well, like Kane, while some won't, like Mane.

Pretty counterintuitive actually. I think most fans would have thought Mané can exploit high lines better than the comparatively slow Kane.

But I think after all, it has less to do with the league but more with the team. Bayern plays much more composed and patient now than under Nagelsmann. And a worldclass player like Mané (was) can adapt to tactical conditions like these. Think he suffered more from the erratic playstyle as well as the overall turmoil at Bayern last season.

Absolutely, which is why lots of pundits especially in England expected many to rip the BL teams apart like Kane does now.

But what happened was that Mane tried to move with the defences to be on their level when the pass is played to him to beat them with his pace. And in situations where the average PL defence would retreat many BL defences stepped up to press and suddenly he was offside instead of being in a sprint duel with a retreating defender.

As you said Kane is slower anyways, he could never rely on such movements.

Looks like this is almost done , 6 moths loan. Doubtful we will see him in a Utd jersey again.

It could not have worked out any worse for the player and Club , even before his spat with ETH he showed little to nothing to suggest that he was even an average premier league player. Yet another financial disaster for the club.

Just hope that he regains some form at Dortmund so that his value increases and you can sell him in the summer.

No.

A Manchester United player going on loan, regaining form & confidence then going on to play better than he done for United is also an [optimistic] positive.

That's a fairy tale. Realistic situation is what I said.

Even if he tears apart at Dortmund scoring 20+ goals, it will only help to increase his market value, not his standing in ManUtd squad.

If he tears it up in Germany again and you have a different manager, he'll be back in the summer.
I have to assume that's the INEOS plan to be honest. I've been with ETH since his seriously innocous comments and the way that Sancho (and his camp) reacted is unforgiveable, BUT Sancho the footballer could be such a force if used properly.

So it’s not the only outcome then, glad we agree on this one.

Some people are going to be mighty disappointed when he turns up for the first day of pre-season under Graham Potter

Considering how shit he was for ManUtd, I will never understand why anyone wants him back. Sometimes things don't work out, it's better to part ways. The shit squad we somehow assembled is the result of not making difficult decision at right time. If we don't sell, this will be one more to add to the collection of shit decisions.

Some people might be disappointed when he turns up for preseason, rest of them will follow when the season starts and we see the same poor Sancho.

Just shows he’s the kind of character that can’t cope with too much too soon

some players can, many cannot

he joined United at 21 and given a salary not far off £300k a week…….that itself sounds like madness, but it’s crippled him, he showed he had this character at Dortmund, a negative mentality

decent player, but ruined by his own character

Jude Bellingham is quite the opposite, he’s getting far too much imo as well for his age but that’s football and but he deals with it, has the right personality, character and people around him to keep him pushing and pushing and pushing

Only thing Sancho is pushing is the money transfer button too the wrong people around him with no end game

Or sometimes it doesn't workout for numerous reasons and the player's character is alright.

Don't know what "used properly" really means. No one's misused him, he's just not been good. You could argue he's not had good players around him, but so have loads of other players that have shone.

Good player, not the best league for him, not a good fit for us and our managers either. Questionable character at times, no surprise it didnt work out. Both parties are to blame, happy he is gone. Think he will look good again in the Bundesliga, but i always thought he struggled in the big games and in the CL most of the time at Dortmund.

Worst signing along with Antony the club has made in my memory, and there's been a lot of awful signings, but considering the price it's been a complete abomination.

Did he ever actually get a run of 5-10 games on the right?

He got 3,672 mins in the prem and never hit 10 goals or assists.
Left, right, wherever he played he was pretty ineffective. on the right wasn't even his best position.

So no then.

on the right wasn't even his best position.

It's the position he was signed to play in, so I don't think it's an unfair to assume that's where he though he was going to play.

Personally I always thought he looked better on the right. And at some point under Solskjaer, Rangnick and Ten Hag I'd have been inteested to see him get an extended run there.

Fatal combination of extreme talent, moderate work ethic and belief in his own hype as a youngster.

Raw talent can only carry you so far, once exposed to the demands of being a top premier league player he just wasn’t up for putting in what’s required. If he’d had CR7 levels of dedication he’d have been unstoppable. Too much money at a young age doesn’t help either.

I know everybody has different body types, but for the position he plays and his style of play he always seems in poor/soft shape. You see some players in some positions that you can imagine get away with different physical needs and demands, but sancho is supposed to be an explosive type player. Looks like the average amateur player with his shirt off

Good. Steadily clearing the decks of excess - squad too bloated. Should give squad/younger players a few more mins and saves a bit of cash… all helps. Would happily take £25m for him in Summer if someone comes in.

As important, it sends message that if players don’t meet standards, there’s no guarantee we‘ll keep them just because they cost £x or their wage is £y. Even if Ten Hag ends up leaving, the club needs to be consistent and get rid of anyone who doesn’t meet required level of work ethic, training, attitude. Any feeling of being untouchable needs to go, including for the manager (Ferguson was the exception to the rule who earned it)… it’s club, club, club.

Hopefully this is a small first step to regaining the 100% standards we once had.

I think we all assumed that's where he'd play, but I'm not even sure that was the plan. I'm not sure there really was a plan.

I genuinely struggle to remember a good game from him, he's done his best work more centrally from what I can remember. If you look at what Greenwood did on our right wing compared to Sancho, there's no contest.

Completely agree.

" I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what "

Good riddance Sancho, one of football's biggest hypocrites. Fighting for the badge but refusing to play for the team for 3 months thereafter.
Shame on you, you have showed no respect for the club, your team mates or the fans and have still pocketed 300k a week in this period.
You have showed a serious lack of professionalism, and i can never forgive you irrespective of your reasoning. The club gave you 3 months off last year on full pay.

You had the ideal platform and your lazy arrogant attention seeking attitude resulted in you throwing it away. There is no way back for you at united
i hope your career fizzles out and you end up on the bench for Partick Thistle.
