Collyer for free was signed while Rangnick was interim. Otherwise, no, the man whose main duty should have been to guide/advise on transfers didn't get the chance to do any of it. Tbf to him he managed to take a dump on most of the team in his brief period here.

I don’t really understand this concept that they can pay a penalty in order to avoid buying him, wasn’t it a total obligation to buy him? Why would we accept 10-15m when we would be guaranteed to get 30m when they buy him as they are obliged to?

I’m also not sure why you are mentioning Elanga? Most fans at the time weren’t that sad to see him go. He is in a run of form at the moment that many quick players (Walcott, Lennon, James, Adama) go on where they look better than they really are.
If Elanga sustains this for the following 2 seasons after this one, we can say it’s a mistake selling him. But ultimately the mistake was ever signing Sancho to begin with.

Just checked, Elanga got a brace the other day. He is now on 5+8 in the league, fighting for Top 2-3 PL finish. But "not good enough for Man Utd purposses" acording to majority of supporters. Same with McT, Alvarez, maligned Amad by ETH, Pereira, even feckin Fred.
These should be the players to built a dynamic squad around. If these guys were on the bench pressuring starting 11 to play their best that would mean a starting line-up is feckin brilliant.

One could argue that he did indeed have the POTENTIAL to be the best player in the league.
