The doubt I had about him was he didn’t rely on pace and at Dortmund there team is more efficient mixed in with the German league giving a little more space.
Since being here he has been awful but people saying he’s done or not at the level are way too premature

Between him and VDB, the amount of money wasted potentially is frightening

Maybe, but statistically speaking 50% of signings are "failures"
He absolutely needs to fight for his place though and plenty of time to turn it around

People are saying we've wasted money on him in a game he didn't play in? feck me this place is crazy.

Same posters be the first to tell us how world class he is when he settles in and finds form.

Not like we've got a big game in CL midweek and then our rivals next weekend...

Has he played centrally for Dortmund?
He was used a lot at Dortmund like Mata used to be with us. Like a wide 10 so he could play centrally no problem.
It's getting in ahead of Bruno which ain't for happening.

Occasionally but he's played as part of a front 3 in front of a back 5 system pretty often. Whether that's a #10 and 2 strikers or 2 wider players playing off of 1 striker doesn't matter that much. We have 8 attacking players suited to that, with Lingard and Martial probably being on the way out that makes it 6. Rotate those 6 players and don't overplay any 1 player and we'll be fine. But it's Ole... so.. unlikely.

Yeah, I've seen him attack the channels alright but could he pull strings like Mata or Bruno?

Let's face it its over for him at United.
He has slipped into Ole's abyss same as Van De Beek Amad and there's no way back from there
Amad doesn't belong in this conversation, given he was bought as a young prospect as opposed to one that would slot straight into the first team and has since been injured. Also, I definitely don't think Sancho should be bracketed with vdb. He'll get chances.

That's a silly post. Nobody is basing their opinion on just today. It's silliness like this that is killing the football forums.

If we play 3 3 2 2 formation like today, he could start from the right side where Bruno usually stayed tonight. He would be good there as he could drift wide or stay inside with his playmaking ability. I would take out Fred and put Bruno on the left or even Pogba.

Obviously, depending on the team we are playing against.

OK, good. Yeah I think that most players can play in most systems, I just thought he was more of an orthodox winger who could primarily attack inside or outside the FB.

Sancho thrives in the half spaces really, he has smart movement but he can play wide anyway. But mainly with Sancho is you want him in a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3, basically in a true front 3 where he's a creative attacker but doesn't have tons of defensive responsibility. Get the natural width out wide with good movement from the fullbacks and he'll be fine too.

He was regularly dropping in to a flat 3 in midfield as well. Sancho would not do well at that.

True. We played 3-4-3 on the ball and 3-5-2 off it. Maybe when Sancho plays, it will be 3-4-3 off the ball as well. We dont have to sit this deep against all oppositions tbf. Sancho has played this role for Dortmund too.

Whatever way you spin it you can't deny it was a very strange signing with evidently no plan as to why we bought him or what system we intended to play him in. Truly baffling that 75m was spent on a player we didn't need when we could have signed Rice and strengthened our midfield considerably. I'm not sure how Solskjaer explains this one to the board.

When will the overwhelming consensus be, the reason he can't get into our team is because his attitude is poor, he doesn't try hard enough etc? I'll give it another month.

It's an easy trick to get our fanbase riled up against our black players. Oldest trick in the book.

What a trainwreck of a post. Not surprised but still.

Honestly you should be banned for talking absolute shite here.......shocking post

Let's step away from the keyboard for a little bit and take a nice breath of fresh air.

I'm just pointing some of our players have a shorter leash than others. Their attitude/work ethic is often hammered irrespective of their colleagues rating them as consummate professionals. People trying to justify Sancho's lack of gametime, will put him in the same group.

How have you lasted 34,000 posts writing utter nonsense like this.
Shocking sh!te.

He's getting scrutiny because he was signed for big money and hasn't hit the ground running. You can say that's unjustified, and it probably is, but I've got absolutely no idea why the race card is being brought out.

We bought him before we were forced into signing Ronaldo though. Who would be our CF starter if Ronaldo wasn't at the club? Wouldnt be Cavani, so clearly would have been one of Greenwood/Rashford with Martial as backup? That then opens up Sancho for RW/LW position. I think we had a clear plan on where we were going, but the Ronaldo signing changed everything.

We won't stick with 3-5-2 forever either, plenty of chances will come his way. Just needs to be a little patient at the moment.

The next crisis and total rethink is never far away with Ole, he’ll be back in the team at some point. Like DVB O don’t think he’s a player Ole really knows what to do with though so not sure we’ll see best of him for a while.

He's too good to pass out when available. Because once this type of player is tied up to big team, it's close to impossible to get him for years.

I very much liking this 3-4-1-2 formation, where Sancho's time will be limited. But who knows? He's proven himself in other League, and may takes a bit more time to adapt.

That's the downside of signing young player. That "our x position is set for 15 years" is always sound silly.

We don't really need to make Sancho into another VDB. He will come good, and he has the numbers to back this up.

We were playing badly, too open all over the pitch. We have had to shut up shop and find our own style tonight. Maybe counter attacking is our best option. We were fully in control of that game tonight, and we could have had 5 goals.

Like we saw with Rashford coming on today on 70mins, Sancho will find his moment and it will be the best thing for everyone concerned.

Bring him in to the fold when we are winning and playing well. Chucking him in to the deep end with breeze blocks tied to his feet, and wondering why he can't swim like he did at Dortmund is just idiotic.

The same thing is happening to van de Beek who is very decidedly not black. Like, he couldn't be less black if he tried.

It's simply that if someone isn't getting any chances, fans look for easy explanations as to why. Especially at a club like ours, where the cult of the manager is powerful and a lot of fans will defend the manager's decisions regarding just about anything.

Totally agree, well said!

Massive fan of his but I think he's made a career suicide decision to join us under a manager who has no clue how to use him. Confident If Ole is sacked, we'll see the real best of him

Imagine joining a club who've chased you for 2 years and paid 70 odd million.

You get there, it's not been great but you've not really had many chances to impress. 2 nil up and you see Jesse Lingard, a player who is out of contract in a few months and wasn't even wanted by the club last year coming on while you'releft sat on the bench.

He must be looking at DVB and wondering
if that's what he's destined for.

I see no reason for such optimism. So far he has been a huge flop and there's no indication this will change. He's rotting on the bench now, and Rashford and Greenwood will always be ahead of him.

Spent £80mil on him to change to wingerless system because of captain can’t play in a 2 & our DMs need a third CB for us to keep a clean sheet. Sancho will be telling Haaland to steer clear.
