Aint no way we're paying Dortmund 110m euros after refused to their 120m demand just 1 year earlier. Also, Dortmund are just as desperate to sell sancho they need money to make signings this summer.

I couldn't care less what we pay for Sancho, the Glazers owe us, they can take 10m less dividends for all i care, all it means is the great great great grandchild will only get a 1m house. Im buzzing to see Sancho whipping in balls to Cavani, he probably scored 5 or 6 less goals because service has been awful.

This will be announced after the Englad game. Either later in the night or early in the morning after. Regardless of result I think.

imagine england are knocked out and Sancho just disappears straight into a heavily-tinted Chevy van for a medical

90+20m would be insane, I’ve heard all the while Dortmund is asking for 90+5m, and our last big was 85m including add-ons.

To be honest I would just leave if it’s really 90+20m, although I don’t think it’s true.

85+5 would be my guess for final offer.

I imagine it's 85m € and some add ons. Hard to believe that could be the total sum.

Of course, the ironic thing is that a lot of the traditions around Sancho day actually were imported from Germany and made popular by Prince Albert and Queen Victoria.

The candles, gifts, the tree and the consumption of candied fruits were all Bavarian traditions.

Happy Sancho Day everybody!

Are you sure? I heard it was originally a Pagan festival, with the Romans celebrating what they called “Sanchurnalia”, in honour of the god of expected goal involvement.

Not really, it's like saying we spent the money on a holiday just because we didn't want to spend what the builder had quoted for the extension we really needed, the money was still spent.

That’s just fecking stupid.

The extension, or in this case Amad & Pellistri, add value and have resale value, a holiday doesn’t. Have a fecking think @C'est Moi Cantona

Where are the people who wanted us to shell out 20m more ?

I think we're still 10m more than what he's worth, £65m would be an appropriate price.

We will soon see how much he was worth to us. But if he is as good as people say he is, then he would have been really useful to us last season. United lost a lot in terms of a year's development for 20 million which is not such a large sum considering the whole size of the club, while for Dortmund it helped them achieve top 4. Not sure its so clear who won this round as it is made out to be.

For the difference in price we got Amad and Pellistri so let us see how they work out as well.

It’s really weird how fans celebrate the players that are starting to turn up within our squad (also constant talk about the Haalands and others for the future) yet also want to ditch Ole as soon as possible.

I don’t believe Ole is a big trophy winner (thought I wouldn’t say it’s impossible) - however I also don’t think beggars can exactly be choosers - going from a decade of poor transfers; I’d rather stick with this for another year or 2 to make our squad look world class again. Then let’s look at the next manager to take the squad forward.

The fans that want Conte are the same fans that wanted Jose - buy absolute dross to the squad which are hard to get rid of but are successful under a short spell so are valued by some fans even if the club is left in a weird toxic player power state.

So instead of just Sancho, we ended up with Sancho, Amad and Pellistri for around the same price for signing Sancho a year later. Not bad, we don't know how things would have been had we signed Sancho in 2020 summer but there is a good chance we might end up with one very good youngster who might go on to become very good player for us, or fetch us good fee.

We aren't beggars though, we are one of the biggest club in the world that spends shit loads of money.

I agree, Conte and Jose are extreme. At least Conte wins the leagues, Jose is washed up toxic guy. But there is a middle ground too, we shouldn't just settle for Ole just because we hired managers like Jose.

Anyways all this is for Ole thread. We are doing well in identifying right players.

I thought even the most simple of human beings understood that a holiday isn’t a bloody asset.
So yeah, as you say, instead of one player on our books, we have 3 for the same price (once Sancho arrives), if people can’t see how that’s better business than 1, especially with the potential of Amad, I don’t know what to say really.
I’m celebrating us, like Madrid with Ronaldo, simply waiting for the opportunity to sign our top top target.

Why do you have to start the In/Out debate in every thread you enter?

It's fecking tedious.

Don't engage in it. It's not the thread for more knackered Ole debating.

Why would anyone want to debate that load of shite in the closed season? Nutters.
He’s signing players and we’ll see how the season goes when it bloody starts, I’m optimistic from the rumours that we’re making the right moves in the market to have a possibility of a cracking season, let’s wait and see.

Not to be confused with the similarly named Cargo Cult god of piano playing (or the nibbling devil God who once took a ferry across the Mersey)

The BIG day is nearly upon us and I can't help but recall all the times we have spent together. The muppetry, the anticipation, the overpriced/overrated arguments, the heart-break from last year, and growing expectations this year... sigh. It's been a long journey. It just won't be the same. I honestly don't know what to do when it does happen. My life would be so.... empty. This thread (or all the 3 threads), this saga will be irreplaceable. Will I ever be able to say "big day today" without getting a little emotional??? I suppose that is life... moving on. All good things must end.
:(

Well yes, there are a lot of pagan influences in Football too!

John Motson's adoption of the sheepskin coat in midwinter was clearly a reference to Pan, with his links to changing of the year and vigorous sexual rites.

Our own team name of the "Red Devils" isn't, as some claim, stolen from a rugby league side, but a reference to a witches coven, thought to be operating in the Ordsall area in 874AD who covered themselves in deep red clay from the banks of the Irwell and argued extensively about the use of the double pivot.
