Big day though.

We can't operate like City and Chelsea do, our owners don't have oil money. Immediately paying whatever a club demands right out the gate would not end well.

With that same reasoning we have remained nearly static for a number of years.

It's just reasonable though? If we just went along and gave in to every clubs evaluations instead of negotiating we'd have even less money to spend.

I'm not saying this.
We all know that we've become a club who takes ages to conclude transfers and we seem to be only good at treating one transfer at a time.

We should not defend the indefensible because that's what it is.

Sorry this is completely ludicrous. Cause does not equal correlation. You don’t just spend an extra 15m to get a transfer done earlier because the internet is throwing their toys out of the pram. Also Chelsea and City don’t just pay sticker price at all ffs. It took over 2 months of negotiation for Chelsea to sign Havertz. City walked away from lengthy negotiations for the Napoli CB and then Kounde before moving on to Dias. We’ve been buying the wrong players - that’s been the jeffing issue - not that we don’t sign players in fecking June for higher fees.

He's not going to train or play for us whilst he is with England so what's the rush?

Does that mean we should halt all transfer business until euros/ copa is finished, all the players have finished their holidays ?

Start our transfer activity end of July? 3 weeks before the season starts?

You need to calm down with your adjectives my friend - we're only discussing and agreeing to disagree.
I respect your opinion but we haven't been negotiating for Sancho for 2 months like chelsea with Havertz - we've been two years.
I'm sure that we'll get him in the end but is everyone here happy with this type of negotiating ?

@Judas, at your service, here's some kryptonite against the doubters

Hasn't been picked up by English language media yet, it seems, so I translated the relevant part

"I rate Jadon Sancho highly, with his 1v1s, assisting and scoring, he's extremely dangerous." Ferguson told 'Sport-Bild'. "He's got so much potential, he's helpful for a team. That's why he will become valuable for England as the tournament progresses."

Exactly. Romano does this too.
That's why this tweet obsession is unhealthy. I mean, we're all guilty but when there is genuine movement, we'll know, we actually don't need to follow the entire 'saga' through all the 'still no movement/united confident' stages. But that's sadly what fans do!

I let go of all that. I only get excited now when it’s on BBC and everyone is saying deal is close. At the minute we’re still in early stages as far as I’m concerned. I used to wait on updates all day, during the summer, like a right muppet. Now, I just want the summer to be over so we can get back to real football.

Shame Fergie knows nothing about football, not like some members of the caf.
To be fair he had some shit players performing over their ability for us. Its like asking Lewis Hamilton if he can beat a Ferrari around a track in a Corsa.
What about the rest of us!

If we're not willing to pay the 90 million (and I can understand it in this financial environment), let's just say thank you and goodbye. Let's not drag this to the last day of the window and then sign Robben on a 1 year deal.

And we come full swing again summer 2020 revisited, start off confident and brief our media then slowly piss Dortmund off with our negotiating tactics leading to their briefs before the whole thing is called off

Yep, its completely identical of how we started last summer. All news about United looking to strengthen, links with Grealish, Sancho, LB and CB and we got Telles on deadline day.

Sancho story seems scarily similar, agreed personal terms very early on, Dortmund set a fee, United cannot match the fee, negotiations start to drag out and we know how it ended last year.

I just dont want us to spend 2 months negotiating something that either 1. we will bow down to their fee or 2. We pull out and move on.

Just the thought of it

Let's get real: Even if United should be that deep in trouble that they try that, I don't believe Robben would go there, he is happily at home and playing at a level he can still do, he would not leave that for the PL now.

It does seem to me eerily similar to this tbh.

If the rumours are to be believed then we're only a few million apart or just negotiating how it will be paid. If true I doubt it will collapse at this stage, it seems like Dortmund are much more receptive to sell and of course both parties can take their time since it's so early in the window and the player is focused on the Euros.

Sancho Day is near upon us lads 'n lasses.

Have you all chosen a hat to wear for the occasion? I'm going with a Trilby because massive stylish and Peaky Blinders

I think people forget last summer was partly dominated by that weird da Vinci code of 70-30-20.

They can go and get fecked.

That would be my thought but the fact is that Sancho will have a bigger impact at Utd than Pogba would have done if he’d performed at his best level for every game, rather than just occasionally.

In a team that relies on individual player brilliance, instead of well drilled teamwork and tactics, a player like Sancho who has individual brilliance and injects it into nearly every game, will make the difference that matters.
Pay that little bit extra and you’re competing for everything next season - and winning trophies again.

That all depends if he can display the same stats for Utd as he does for Dortmund and that is a massive “If”

I don’t understand the point of a United CEO if they have to get every deal signed off by Joel.

Surely the owners would say to the CEO your transfer budget is £150 million this summer. Reinforce the squad accordingly.

The only time a CEO should be contacting the owners is if more money is required

No wonder our transfers drag on and on.
