Jack Wilshere

I think we've spotted someone who plays far too much FM.

Indeed.

If Wilshere could guarantee me 40+ games a season for the next 8 years I would give Arsenal £35m tomorrow for him, but I just don't think he will, which is a shame he's just what I think our midfield is missing

Pretty much, too injury prone but potentially a great player.

 Ay, piss off.

English euphoria after a win I suppose here....fair enough. Incredible that England have so many world class players in Rooney, Smalling, Sterling, Wilshere, Carrick and so on and still struggle to get out of there groups! Great few goals from Wilshere recently, still far away from being a top notch player. I'll give up on this one, we'll see how Wilshere does in the next few years anyway.

Fair enough, i'll give you that. I think the're better prospects however. As I said, off the top of me head. Wilshere's a good player, don't get me wrong, but world class? He's not even the best at Arsenal. Samper is brilliant though, he'll be a caf favourite soon!
No one called him world class or the best player at Arsenal.

Wilshere is definitely talented, but as well as being injured a lot, he is incredibly inconsistent too (he has quite a few periods of poor form). I don't think Arsenal would loose too much sleep if they lost him tbh.
Saying that though he is probably Englands best CM (I'm not counting Carrick since they never play him).
So for his injuries and inconsistency I would most certainly pass, City are welcome to him, but I think he'll stay at Arsenal

What are you blithering on about?

Why do so many Irish posters make everything an anti-English thing?

Watch a youth tournement or a few youth matches perhaps? Never crossed your mind.

Wilshere was a golden boy at youth level.

In the grand scheme it means little as players have different development patterns.

Koke
Gundogen
Pogba
Thiago
Alcantara
Messi
Jones
Mc Eachran
Ramsey
DDG
Barkley
Enzo Zidane
Velasquez
Xavi

I could go on but that's an easy 20.

Essien lend you his calculator?

Easy.
Koke
Gundogan
Oliver torres
Kramer
Xhaka
Ramsey
Saul
Sergi Samper
thiago Alcanara
Rafinha
teilemens
Von den Beek
Gorezka
Gaudinho
Hojberg
Veratti
Ruben Neves
Pogba
Kondogbia
Ruben Pardo

Off the top of the head. Not even taking into account attacking mids like Max Meer, Nouri, Correa, Isco, James etc etc

By 'so many' you mean a handful out of the hundreds who post?

I really don't think TC's comments are that typical. But wishing the tall poppy to be cut down is pretty common. And there's no denying that schadenfreude is part of football fan psychology.

Yeah a noticeable handful, not to insinuate it's the majority of Irish posters. It's not only Irish either, it's trendy to have a go at the overrated English players and arrogant English fans. It's strange because such intolerance towards other nationalities wouldn't be tolerated but because it's England it's fair game.

When it comes to international football you're our local rivals.... I say that, we live vicariously through watching your team compete at tournaments, hoping to see you fail miserably so we can laugh at your misery, while at the same time supporting English league teams.. hey no one said we weren't conflicted.

I've always thought he was a class act, and that he was wasted playing so far forward. He's got an excellent passing range, short and long and given a hard working midfield around him he can really control games. He's got to play deeper to fulfil his potential.

Love him I do. If he could stay fit, he'd definitely be up there with the best, in my opinion. Reminds me so much of Gundogan.

He forgot Lucas Romero, Mario Pugliese and Gaston Gil Romero!

Great goals but both Henderson and Delph had better overall games...

:wenger:

I remember when he first came through and Wenger said that he has everything required to be a top player. His potential is world class but he really needs to put it all together in the next couple of years or it could go to waste.

Wilshere is crap in my opinion. Wouldn't want him anywhere near United. I wouldn't pick him for England either, just doesn't get enough goals and rarely dominates games. What's he got two international goals in, at a guess, 20 England appearances ? That's woeful for someone who is meant to be a creative midfielder and one who plays a lot of his football 20-30 yards from goal.

The straight, white Englishman is now almost the only animal it's permissible to hunt all year round without a license.

It seems unfair; but not to worry. I'm sure the umbrella of political correctness will eventually be extended to cover even you, and you can lie safe from insult in its shade.

True. Although we can still insult those dumb Americans and get away with it too. They're so loud and think Scotland is a suburb of London!

I guess we can get away with it because they rule the world. Everyone knows you can only be racist/xenophobic towards inferior races/nationalities.

.Long range shooting
.Ill disciplined
.Can't control temp of a game
.0 Premier League medals

There was me thinking I would miss Poor Old Stevie G.

You poor lamb however will you cope.

Englands most talented player. Bit of an idiot, and injury prone.

I've always liked him, but I wouldn't want to be in for him at all. Firstly, he's a crock and like Scholes said some time ago, I don't really think he's progressed all that much, even taking into account the injuries. Hope he can stay injury free though and look to fulfill his potential.

Wilshere is a good player with a good technique who has been very unlucky with injuries. I haven't noticed any progress in the last 3 years tbh and i think Ramsay is the better talent and will go on to become a better player.

Karl Henry is crap. Jack Wilshere has been disappointing.

Have you pre ordered FM16?

God help us then. He might have been Englands best talent when he was 18 but hes no better now than he was then, and thats as much down to his attitude as his injury record.

I think he will be sold to a mid table outfit before the end of the decade.

I don't think his attitude is a problem, he loves Arsenal and always puts in an effort. He's averaging 15 league games a season for the last four years which isn't going to allow anyone to develop.

You can admit that he's a talented player without claiming he's "world class". Very talented footballer - but too many injuries so far. I remember a few years ago Cappello saying he was overplayed for Arsenal or something like that and he'd end up breaking down - and so he did. That's obviously stymied his development but he's got talent. I think he's better than a few of the players on that arbitrary list tbf.

When hes having a bad game he just seems to lose his head and run in circles. He doesnt seem able to set himself and figure a game out.
