Yes, because that’s exactly what everyone has been saying all these years we have struggled playing a midfield 3. Cool.

I dunno what happened in training this week but Ugarte is definitely out, Mainoo and Collyer are major doubts, and Amad is out for the season. So we're gonna end up seeing the whole academy promoted at this rate

As you say, I was impressed with his engine as a box to box midfielder - driving forward well with or without the ball. But he was also one of the main ball players in midfield and was linking up well and taking a lot of the set pieces, etc.

He looked a very good all round CM, and despite injuries holding him back with the U18s, it's good to see how his game has come on - especially his dribbling runs.

I really used to enjoy those milk cup games. It’s where you get to see the next generation coming through first and some stepping up before the season starts. Wheatley does sound familiar for that time period too.


Your right in that he did show a lot for the ball and always seemed to be driving the team. I’m sure he even covered in central defence at one point. My only concern with some of his play at the time was that he maybe over ran the ball a bit. However he seems now to release it and dribble more constructively which is positive development or maybe I was being harsh then.

He seems well rounded and is developing nicely, hopefully he can continue in this vein and maybe get a loan next season or even go on the pre season tour.
