There's quite a few players emerging like Lacey, Fitzgerald etc who seemed to be garnering a bit of interest/hype and rightfully so imo. But 17 year old Jack Moorhouse is another player who looks very talented and his ball carrying/dribbling in confined spaces looks to be at a very high level for someone his age.

I'd say he's the best ball carrier I've seen in central areas at United youth level for sometime. And it'll be interesting to see how develops in the coming season.

Comp from last season.

I like the look of him, can’t quite place who he reminds me of but he’s got talent and composure aplenty.

I like the fact he looks to transition quickly and uses which ever foot is best at the time. Quick with interceptions and getting the ball first.

Seems like we have a few central midfielders for this age group, be interesting to see if or any get regular time for the under 21s.

Like a young Scholes. Especially the way he receives that ball on the half turn facing forward, always looking to move the ball to attack. Could be one to keep an eye on.

Michael Johnson before the drink and injuries? (As in the City player, not the sprinter).

Excellent performance today. I think it was the first time he completed 90 min since his return.
Hopefully it carries on like this

I only get to see the highlights because I don't have MUTV but looks to have a really high level of technical ability. Heard he's been out for over a year, hopefully he can kick on!

Watched some highlights of the game against Spurs. This kid stood out so tried to find what had been written about him on here.

Hard to judge with these style of players we seem to produce a few I.e. Ennis; Williams. But he’s skill set is what we need more of in the first 11.

I'm glad to see him putting in some good performances and getting some hype.

I remember being impressed with him in the pre-season NI tournament for the U16s a few years ago, where he looked good as a technical box to box midfielder.

I was looking forward to him stepping up to the U18's to get to see him regularly, but then he seemed to miss a lot of time with them injured.

I'm glad he's getting regular game time with the U21's and is showing good form and ability at that level.

I don’t watch the youth teams much these days but like to keep an eye on these threads to see what we’re up to. I’m not convinced of some of the others that get talked about based on the bits I have seen, but with Moorhouse I’m actually thinking he looks the business to me. Shades of Giggs with his dribbling at speed. Not sure where he is in terms of his development or what the coaches are thinking, but he looks the sort of player who I think would bring a bit of joy to our supporters if he was given a chance and could show some of his ability at first team level.

If I remember correctly, Ruben watched him assist 2 and scored 1. And then he started training with first team.

He could be developed in few ways - he makes the runs on the wings, centrally and in the half space. If Amorim wanted, he could develop him into a progressive CM or a #10 or even a wingback

I've seen a few of his clips from youth level where he looks like a powerful runner. Presumably one of the 10 positions would be most natural for him if he were to break through into the first team for Amorim?

Like many of our midfielders that Amorim has displaced, he is probably neither of the two midfield profiles and would be more suited to playing in a 3.

According to the caf everyone of our midfielders would all excel playing in a 3 man midfield .

I remember the milk cup that was mentioned earlier where I saw him for the first time too with I think Fitzgerald and a couple others maybe. I was more impressed with his engine and attitude at the time but he seems to have developed others aspects of his game since then.

Injuries obviously slowed his progression but his dribbling appears more purposeful and he seems more effective in creating spaces in attacking areas.

Got a nice balance of high work rate and being effective with goals and assists. Passes the eye and stats test.

Anything to stop the geriatric midfield - least this lad would give us some legs

The geriatric midfield of Ugarte (23) and Mainoo (19)?

Edit: I guess with news coming out that Collyer, Ugarte and Mainoo are all out for the clash v Spurs, it’s fair to say all that is left is pretty geriatric

Yeah, I've mentioned being impressed with him in the Milk Cup as well. I think Wheatley was also in that milk cup squad and looked decent?

As you say, I was impressed with his engine as a box to box midfielder - driving forward well with or without the ball. But he was also one of the main ball players in midfield and was linking up well and taking a lot of the set pieces, etc.

He looked a very good all round CM, and despite injuries holding him back with the U18s, it's good to see how his game has come on - especially his dribbling runs.
