Only question is.... is he an asshole? r.e. Oles quote "Id rather have a hole in my squad than an asshole". Which I totally agree with. I cant figure out if Grealish is a nice guy with a few youngsters quirks or genuinely a knob. From the outside looking in he seems more of the latter. But maybe Im wrong.
Hearing Sourness’ comments about him and his classy response just makes me like the bloke even more. Hope we sign him and he completely humiliates Sourness next season.

Reports seem to be that he was a bit of a dick when he was younger but has matured over the last couple of years. Obviously he had the relapse during the lockdown, but hopefully that was just a one-off thing during a difficult time.
I knew he had been brilliant this season, but I didn't realise he was 2nd in chances created. When you take into account the rubbish he's playing alongside, and McGinn missing a load of footy, it just makes it more impressive.
Yeah I know what you mean,maybe moving away from the influences in Birmingham could help him. Like I said in the previous post I am prepared to give him a chance to prove he can mature
I had previously preferred United prioritse funds in a CDM over another play marker, but looking at the distinct drop in quality once Bruno is substituted out for Pereira (with Lingard likely to be sold), I think signing a creative play maker like Grealish makes a lot of sense, even if on paper he won't come in to play in the first team right away.
Yeah I liked the response too but can understand people having doubts about the off field stuff. You can't fail to be impressed by the chances created stat though.
I hate the narrative that because we have Greenwood performing we should cool our interest in Sancho or because we have Bruno doing so well we should relax on the Grealish thing.
We need a proper squad, packed with quality. He'd be a great addition. Really hope we go for him.

Couldn't agree more,we are terrible at seeing a big performance from a player and suddenly changing our mind on buying.
I doubt he regrets that move either. Instead of being mid table he's won the FA Cup and Europa League, won his England place back and seems to be starting and scoring for them at the moment. Grealish moving to United would yield similar results for him.
It pisses me off how some people are reluctant to buy players because we already have a good option for that position, as if they’re scared of competition. City have Foden, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus as rotation players yet we’re not appealing enough to have those players As squad players. Get a grip.
So many people also scared of competition for Rashford and Greenwood ffs even with Sancho Who can play across a forward line. Loads of our own fans don’t even realise the size of their own club and maybe have forgotten what it takes to win the PL. I hope they do want to win the PL.

Everyone knows Souness was talking out of his arse as per usual though and I think Grealish shouldn’t respond to punditry. You don’t see anyone else in our squad doing so.
What other player do you know that would retweet something to protect their own image? It just seems to me to be self centred to have to big yourself up publicly when you come under criticism.
Maybe I’m biased but it seemed to me like his ego was hurt by the comment and felt the need to address that. When actually he could just ignore it and be happy in the fact he’s got more actual talent than Souness and doesn’t need to justify himself to one of the most biased and useless pundits on TV.
He’s a very talented player and I just think his attitude seems to be self centred in the wrong kind of way. But I know I don’t like him so I’m potentially seeing this through a biased lens.
Souness is a waste of air time. I’ve not seen him make any insightful commentary on any player for a very long time. Grealish should ignore him and just keep performing on the pitch.

I would like him as a starter but we already have 3 players who can cover the left wing and we have Bruno as a CAM.
There is no point in buying him just to be a squad player when we have other positions that are more critical (RW, CDM and CB) and we know he won't be cheap.
If we really want a squad player who can cover positions on CAM and RW then we should go for Emi Buendia or David Brooks when they get relegated.

Said the following:
- United were interested in Grealish but it was largely dependant on Pogba's movements. He's now settled and is excited at the prospect of playing with Jadon Sancho, so won't be leaving this summer.
- United's main interests this summer are 1. Sancho. and 2. another Striker to push Martial for competition.
- No plans to strengthen the midfield or defence outside of those two targets this window. Expecting youth players to step up.

What would be the plan for Grealish? Squad player? He won't start ahead of Bruno....he shouldn't start ahead of Rashford on the left. So he's purely a back-up? A good squad does need back-ups but how do we sell that to him and at what cost? We have Fred and McT who can't get a game just now. Not the same type of players, but with a shuffling of the pack we're quite well covered. I'd rather concentrate on signing a RW and then next priority a CB. After that maybe a CDM. but I'm not sure why a CAM/LW is being looked at.
We’re not buying a striker this summer, the signing of Ighalo until January confirms that.
That position isn’t in need of drastic improvement; it’s one that just needs more assessment for the time being. I think the club are happy with Martial as first choice and that as back up there isn’t a clear option in the market hence Ighalo being a temporary solution.
Right wing is top priority, then probably looking at midfield depth and then POSSIBLY another long term CB (if we move some on), and striker.

on utd podcast back in april when asked about Souness and his constant criticism he said he didn't even know who he was. I've no issue with it to be honest, as it fairly got Souness angered enough that he responded with his "put your medals on the table" rant. Even Carragher weighed in saying Pogba's jibe was below the belt. In an ideal world players keep quiet and get on it with but it's not an ideal world and with social media etc it's hard to keep them quiet. I wouldn't want them responding every week, but a nice jab like this now and again is fine. Souness criticism of Grealish was ridicolous, it just flew in the eyes of the facts that a pundit like him should be knowledgable of.

There's no harm in bringing in a player of his quality. We all know how lucky/unlucky we've been with injuries, so it would be a bad idea to go into next season hoping our first 11 don't get injured.
As regards to money, we can sell one or two of lingard, Pereira, mata?, smalling, sanchez. I don't think Jones is going anywhere soon. The money raised from this and the free salary can cover this transfer. So this transfer shouldn't rely on whether or not we sign Sancho.
As regards to where he plays, competition is good for the team. If he performs better than anyone else in the team, then he takes the position. Also, have I mentioned our luck with injuries?

To be fair to Pogba he was outright asked the question. That’s different to actively seeking to respond which Grealish did.
Souness’ criticism was woeful but when does he ever make a good point.
It is true, he is defended far more than any of the player(s) Souness constantly chides. He was criticized once and had to respond yet they are players far more talented than him who are constantly criticized and to this day have never replied directly, that for me is class and maturity.
I do not watch all the epl games but whenever I have seen him play he hasn't created anything for anyone.
Barkely has been found out at Chelsea, same would happen to Grealish here or worse.

As though what Carragher says matters more than the price of rice. Carragher is a dirty two headed snake who should not be anywhere near our tv screens. If Pogba's jibe was below the belt, as respectful as he was, how close to the belt was Carragher's spitting..
Souness should not be on our screens either because he does appear to be biased or prejudiced but what he said about Grealish was spot on. I think against Chelsea; that was the game where his dives became incredibly obvious, he is a diver, more so than any of the latin players and it really is something. If he realeased the ball earlier he would not be caught on it and have to engage in those olympic class dives. As a club we do not need anyone like that, he is more suited to Everton or Liverpool.

Yeah Cooper is considered tier 2 for transfers but don't know about how reliable Whitwell is
If they go down it's not that hard a sell.
We play 50+ games a season, and he'll join an ever improving squad right at the cusp of turning into a very good side.
Pogba has just missed about 8months injured, Bruno won't play 50 games, and Rashford and Martial have missed a lot of games.
There's no worry for his game time.
This for me is a total non starter.
We've learnt from our mistakes at this messing with positions business.
You buy him as an attacking midfielder, central or at a push out left, or you look elsewhere.
Any chance of a poll on whether we want him?
