True. Pogba isn't going anywhere this window but it's been reported by Ducker that Grealish is on the basis Pogba leaves in the future
That’s not really why. Half the league wear tiny shin pads but still pull their socks up. I wear kids shin pads but still pull my socks up to my knee.
He wears his socks low due to superstition. When he was younger his socks shrunk in the wash and they would only go half way up his calf. He had a great season with them and has wore his socks down the same way ever since.
My opinion is that if we buy Grealish it means that Pogba will not be hanging around and Grealish would be mainly a central midfielder but he obviously has versatility;

Paul Pogba will absolutely be here next season. In the current economic climate due to covid no club can afford him. Real Madrid can't even afford Van De Beek.
Of course we haven't offered him a contract yet. It's not even a certainty we will have champions league football next season. And Paul Pogba is not going and will be here next season. So Grealish will be on the bench.

He is not a CM really, perhaps in 3 midfield but still not ideal.
I think it would be better if we could get Pogba sorted rather than delaying with an intention/ agreement to sell but still that would work.
I think Grealish will be desperate to leave Villa this summer regardless of what happens today and quotes from his teammates seem to suggest there's an acceptance that he's outgrown them now. I recall Grealish being adamant he would have left had they not gained promotion last season so there's a confidence there that he could move on if he desired.

Honestly don’t think we’re getting him if Villa stay up. They would want top money for him and with his contract up in 2023 there’s no rush to sell either even if he does want out.

Only questionable thing he's done was the lockdown incident. Didn't he apologize and say it was stupid. Even if that may not say much he would have definitely learnt his lesson. His teammates and coaches also haven't said any bad thing about him. Why would he be captain if he had an attitude problem

Well there are several more incidents involving drinking, gas and a couple extras that havent been in the papers.
If you watched his “apology” he never actually says he’s sorry and it came across incredibly insincere.
He’s captain because he’s the best player.

I don’t see Pogba playing that AM role, I think Ole has simplified things for him and doesn’t want him playing multiple positions, just mastering that one. So I assume that’s where many are seeing Grealish being especially useful.
As far as I know they were all a few years ago though. From all reports he's matured quite a lot the last couple of years, although obviously he had the one big relapse during the lockdown where he screwed up.

We're reported to have a 150m transfer budget. I'd hate to see more than 30m of that go to Grealish, who would be a squad man for us. Spending less than 120m may not allow us to fully address our needs at RW, CB and DM...unless Woody pulls off some serious magic, but that seems highly unlikely.
But if Ole is given a budget closer to 200m then by all means spend 40-45m on Grealish to round out the squad.
NB: I have no expectations for getting any kind of serious cash for the sale of Lingard, Jones et al.

My favourite conversation in here is the reasons to not sign him based on wearing his socks down, having kids shin pads, wearing tight shorts and controversial hair cuts. If that doesn’t scream middle aged man having a mid life crisis I don’t know what does
If we have £150m to spend I doubt we’d be paying the full price for Sancho and grealish up front anyway. So we’d most likely pay out £70m - £90m in initial payments this summer. Plenty of room when you factor in up to 5 will leave

I have gone for us getting £15m for Alexis, £15m for Smalling, £5m for Rojo, £20m for Lingard, £15m for Dalot.
Each to their own he ain't for me. He's been terrible since lockdown and it's been Trezeguet pulling them to possible safety. Different strokes but I hope we steer as clear as is humanely possible.

Why would Grealish make more sense than Benrahma as a squad player? If Grealish made the step up, why wouldn't Benrahma? He would be cheaper. He's the smarter squad depth buy.
It's absolutely not the 'off field' stuff. If he was sweeping all before him I doubt if anyone would care if he was getting pissed each night with a couple of glamour models on each arm.

He's also some one who excites when on the ball. I have no idea what he's like as a team player though. Is he greedy, does he lack the awareness for the simple pass etc?

Jack Grealish is an amazing player and whoever buys him will be very well served.

Grealish can cover for Pogba, Bruno and Rashford. If we add him and Sancho to those 3 plus Greenwood and Martial, we have 7 players for 228 starts across a league season. That's 32.5 starts each for our front 5 options if nobody gets injured (which they will) - not one of them will be upset with those numbers in a season and it means we might be able to reach the business end of the year without our best players running on fumes.
