Oui.

We need another striker as baby rasmus isnt quite ready yet to lead the line in the PL

not just that but if the price be touted is true at aroudn $100m then feck that

Too many strikers is never a problem .. look at Liverpool ..
Sell Martial and buy Toney

Support striker isn’t Toney. Would be stupid waste of money that we need to spend at CB, DM or CM first and foremost.
Nope. We are absolutely devoid of goals, especially in the forward line. A competent, experienced and prolific striker is an absolute priority - as it was in the summer.

Whether if not Toney is that striker is up for discussion.

We have enough to muddle through this season in Def and Mid and can sort it in the summer.

He’s out of contract that summer isn’t he? Not be getting 100m for him.
toney is too expensive
We won't be getting anything for Martial - if we want rid of him before the summer we'd have to pay someone to take him, Toney, forget him, as you say he's way too expensive

Our Front 3 have scored 1 goal in the premier league between them. It's ABSOLUTELY the priority if money is available.

biggest issue with this for me is it isnt like we are creating a shit ton of chances, and playing well everywhre but striker. We are playing like absolute shit in the midfield/defense and not progressing the ball forward. So splurging all this money on someone who wont get any service makes no sense to me. We need to figure out the build up phase and finding ball playing midfielders/defenders to allow us to dominate games, then see how our attack can thrive when we actually create things consistently.

Could be the experienced man the young lad needs to play alongside. Could be a Jim'll fix it in Jan.

Would love for us to sign him this month if possible. He’ll add goals and take pressure of Højlund.

He’s never 100m
If market where Hojlund is 70 mil then Toney is for sure 100 mil.
Is that realistic value? No. Should we pay 100 mil for him? I don't know but we for sure need him.

Will we go for him? No.

Or helping him settle… Fergie use to have 4 ST at a time.

He once had 4 strikers to cover two positions, for a relatively short period of time. The backups were low cost alternatives.

It wasn't comparable to this idea of adding Toney.

He's a proven PL goalscorer who would cost more than Hojlund.

I’m struggling to see the relevance of Hojlund in this. Second time today I’ve seen posters using him as some kind of measure for transfer fees. It’s ridiculous really.

Toney is 28 and March and hasn’t played any football for 6 months or more. He has one intentional cap.

Bar the fact he plays to front have I missed the link to Hojlund?

Is Dom Solanke also worth 100m?

Easily worth £80m+ in a market where Hojlund cost £70m.

Proven PL goalscorers are rare.

Surely wait until the summer for this guy.

Will take him weeks to get match fit and why on worth would Brentford sell him when they're 4 points off relegation and other key attackers are injured?

I get Hojlunds stats in the PL are poor but that’s not the only variable.

Toneys had two PL seasons, one average, one good. Hardly any intl or European experience. Almost 28 so unlikely to have resale value.

If we could get him for under £50m .. maybe

In the 4 4 2 era when you started with 2 strikers. What will you do with 4 strikers in a 1 striker formation.
It will actually be 3 ST in a 1 ST formation. And 1 of them ST is forever injured. Our other forward options are mainly left sided like Rashford.

Hojlund is only worth £80m because we were stupid/desperate enough to pay it. He was touted at £30m-£40m before the window. Toney is more realistically a £70m player.

He is nearly 28? feck, basically dead then. Amazing how United fans are obsessed with age.
Hojlund's fee shows how much strikers are rated these days by selling clubs. Yes, we overpayed him but our first bid was already around 40-50 mil. For striker who scored 9 goals in league.
Toney is best player of his club, proven PL striker and English (like it or not, that is also the thing which raises fee). Brenford would want at least 80 mil for him.
Is he worth it 80 mil? Probably not but that would be his starting price.

I’m just wondering why the comparison with Hojlund when he’s 8 years older?

Surely you realise that this plays a huge part of the value

Wissa and Mbuemo are both at AFCON and Brentford are on the slide so you would think they won’t sell this window.

He scored 3 today in a friendly against Southampton U21.

If Brentford go down he’ll be available for a cut price in the summer anyway. Anyone bidding 100m in January is silly.
