Sky Sports said were "in talks" with Inter. Other reports say we have verbal agreement with the player.
I'd say Miki is wasted on the wing either way, as he doesn't really take the full back on. Lingard does, but he's a lot more comfortable on the left (I'm not sure he's played at all on the left this season though). Miki was incredible last season, but that's because the whole front line up were very flexible, so he wasn't an out and out RW.
Not seen a single minute of Inter games or any Youtube compilations but after reading a few summary posts, I'm convinced and will stereotype him as the next Olic. Because Croatian, hard working and quality but not quality.

Jose knows what he's doing, I'd prefer Perisic over say Lucas moura. I also like that if he does come we're getting a player who was an important member of the team and not someone overpriced cast off who probably didn't even want to come in the first place.

I've added a couple of helpful threadmarks.
Can see why jose likes him. 6'2, quick and strong looking. our first team will be like a rugby pack next season.
Having watched youtube, I've seen 10minutes more of him than you. He looks like a budget Bale from his last season with Spurs.
People mentioning Perisic's age, but maybe Mourinho sees the potential in Martial, therefore, he feels in a couple of years when Perisic starts to decline, Martial will be ready to start consistently for us.

He is a left footed Antonio Valencia from what I've seen. He'll twist and turn and then go to the left and cross. If you close his left side, then I think you've taken him out of the game

I thought he was 2 footed. Fairly sure he is from the times I've watched him play.
Uhh Martial has shown at the very least he needs someone to compete with him/isn't good enough yet. I get he's a "darling" of the forum but his performances have been sketchy at best

Interesting perception of him, I always believed that his capability of using both feet was one of his more desirable qualities.

not a fan of this signing due to age and quoted price but he could add something different to our attack which are pace and directness.
rashford is very quick and quite direct, while martial, micki and lingard are quite quick but not that direct and none are natural born wingers. plus perisic is the only one who will run down the line and is a typical old style winger.
as long as we sign a CF with goals and griezmann i'm fine with perisic. could be the end of martial though.

I think the Valencia comparison does him a little bit of disservice. He's good on both feet, and has some variety to his game, but yeah I'm pretty sure he likes going wide and crossing.
Wishful thinking. I'd actually be happy to achieve a top four place with that team based on the relative improvements I believe others will make. Seriously.
Under Mourinho Ivanovic was Chelsea's more attacking fullback and Willian (the touchline hugging winger) played in front of him. Valencia is our most attacking fullback so I think Perisic would start in front of him. Haven't we needed someone who is able to exploit switches to the right for a long time? Anyway, if not Perisic, who?
If there's one Serie A winger we should be after, it's Keita Balde. Young, pacy, strong, direct, versatile position wise, and with really good dribbling skills. 16 goals in Serie A this season at the age of 22. Would much rather pay 50-55 million euros for him. (actually he would cost a lot less as his contract expires in summer 2018)

At least Griezmann would actually improve us, it's a pretty sure bet.
Belotti may improve us or he may not. But if he performs then at least he could lead the attack with vigor, take defenders on in physical duels and open up space for our young strikers.

️ FeliciaDepends on the price, but looks like a good Jose style winger. I'm Woody knows how much of the budget Jose wants to spend, but i doubts its more than £35m base fee. Costa and Moura could be available for that price.
I'm guessing we have roughly a £200m warchest with Griezman costing £90m, a target man for £45m, winger for £35m, and a CM for £35m.

I didn't watch much of Inter at the Euros.
Miki played left wing, because Mou does not rate Martial and Rashford moved to CF. Lingard is Miki's back up on the right and if Perisic is in, he will push out Martial. Moreover, if there is a new CF, Martial will become a third choice on the left, behind Perisic and Rashford.

You know what's weird about this one? This is exactly the kind of player most of the Caf have been wishing we had; you just didn't know what you were wishing for. Perisic is about as orthodox a winger as you'll get in world football today; very quick, stays wide, takes on his man, decent delivery into the box, generally inconsistent. And it's that last point that's the most important. Most wingers are inconsistent, and at best have average productivity. Most on here forget that the likes of Beckham and Giggs (or in modern times, Robben and Neymar) are the exception rather than the rule. Modern football just doesn't allow productive wingers in the modern game, it's one of the reasons why fullbacks provide the real width these days, and why wingbacks have become so common as a result. So here guys. Here is the winger you've all been asking for for so long; the player you've begged for when you've criticised Mata for being to slow, or got on Martial's back (a 21 year old still learning his trade no less) for losing the ball or cutting inside rather than going to the byline. Be careful what you wish for.
Side note: I'd actually be OK with signing Perisic; just not as an automatic first choice. He'd be a player to bring in if we need to stretch the game, or if we need defensive cover on the left wing, or delivery into the box from wide. For me he's a great option to have, a player to play for tactical reasons. He's certainly not more talented than the players we already have, but he does offer us something different.

If we're looking to exploit switches to the right, which I don't really think we are tactically, Douglas Costa is a better option. Mahrez isn't bad at that either. Mourinho didn't rate Mo Salah but at least he's 24, if we're looking for a productive Serie A winger.
I just don't understand spending 45M on a player with such low upside. What's the realistic best case scenario here? We get 3 pretty good seasons from him in which he grabs like 8-10 goals and 5-7 assists a season from the wing in a 4-4-2 and then we sell him at 31 years old for like 5-10M? There's gotta be a cheaper way to do that, or a player who can fill this role but is aged 22 and can be a part of the team for longer going forward.
Even with all our money, we shouldn't be spending this kind of money to plug a hole on the wing - where players don't age well because you need explosion to create out there - with a 28 year old who's not truly special, even if like Rojo or Fellaini or other athletic grafters he'd be a nice fit under Mourinho who performs well enough most weeks.
I'm violently against this signing, but I do think Perisic would offer us something different for the next 2-3 seasons that he knows what he's doing defensively and knows how to find and finish a chance out wide. Martial is an excellent dribbler and decent finisher for a winger but not clear Mourinho trust him defensively. Mkhitaryan isn't much defensively and isn't a proper wide man and Rashford is probably best used up top, though he's actually shown enough defensively and as a player for me that I think if we gave him the role we'd give Perisic he'd take to it well enough.
If this was 10-15M final year of his contract or free with massive wages I think it would be worth it, especially if the idea is to sign Griezmann but not another 9 and play more 4-4-2 with Martial and Rashford fighting for a spot up top (maybe just until Zlatan returns) and Perisic, Mata, the loser of the Martial/Rashford 9 battler and Mkhitaryan as the wing options.
On the other hand, if we sign Griezmann we can just play 4-3-3 with him and Mkhitaryan free to roam and create behind a 9 with Pogba getting another box to box partner and Herrera offering passing and mobility as the 6. Spend the 45M of Perisic money on a box to box midfielder and a 9 and that looks a whole lot better than whatever lineup involves Perisic.

Surprised if we go through with this. Out of all Inters underachievers, didn't have him down as someone who'd attract interest from elite clubs. He is a very Mourinho type player though.
To be fair, those kinds of signings barely exist anymore, especially for a club like ours. Everyone knows money is no object, so of course they're going to squeeze us for all they can get. Tbh, 35M is probably the 2017 equivalent of what 10-15M was 5-10 years ago. I know we got Zlatan on a free, but that was very lucky, and he was just about to turn 35, rather than a 28 year old probably in the prime of his career.
