Until I see him introduced at a press conference by United I won't believe a thing.

Neither will I - hope he's not got a bad knee. Couldn't go through that again!

And how come the're now quoting his age as 24?

I'm sure he was 22 a couple of days ago...

So he met him at the airport, went to the nearest coffee shop and signed the player with no medical, terms agreements etc.

Tossers they are, they should have said he's signed an agreement to sign, not a contract. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

This is more like it...

Forlan: Manchester United is a very big club, so I have decided to go there. They have made the offer and now I have only to sign the contract."

He added: "Playing in Manchester for a club like Manchester United is very important.

"I have to sign the contract and meet the coach, then I will be more calm and able to talk more."

Diego Forlan has told Sky Sports News that he intends to sign a four-year deal with Manchester United.

Forlan was reported to be booked on a flight from Gatwick to Newcastle this afternoon (Friday) where he was set to continue transfer talks with Middlesbrough.

But the 22-year-old Independiente striker has confirmed to Sky Sports News that he will now travel to Manchester and complete a £6.9million switch to United.

Forlan, who is expected to sign a four-and-a-half year contract at Old Trafford, said: "Manchester is a big club and I decided to go to Manchester. We have had an offer so I only have to sign the contract."

It is believed that the Premiership champions ability to pay the transfer fee in one payment to the cash-strapped Argentinian side has clinched the deal.

Independiente stressed they need cash up-front in order to pay wages, as the economic chaos in Argentina continues to ravage the country's favourite sport.

Boro appeared to have clinched Forlan's signature earlier in the week, but Sir Alex Ferguson stepped in at the 11th hour after reports that Boro could not pay the fee in one go.

Forlan, who will link up with fellow South American Juan Sebastian Veron at Old Trafford, had previously hinted he would prefer to join United rather than Middlesbrough.

If negotiations go well he could have a medical in Manchester on Friday night.

Hope this keeps you happy for a little while!
