Italian Serie A 2022/23

Lukaku never looked world class in Serie A, he just scored more penalties at Inter.
He has scored the same amount of non-penalty goals that he did at United btw.

His best goalscoring record in his career is with Everton playing in the so called "best league in the world".
This.

Also this:
Unfortunately Bundesliga brigade is much larger than Serie A. But here we go with the third post.

10 current Premier League players who look much better there than when they were in Serie A:
1. Manchester City: Joao Cancelo. Good for Juventus but nothing more than that. look world class at Manchester City.
2. Liverpool: Mohamed Salah. Same as above
3. Chelsea: Rudiger, Jorginho same as above.. Kovacic wasn't even good during his Inter stint.
4. Tottenham: Kulusevski and Bentancur, Both mediocre at Juventus, great for Tottenham.
5. Arsenal: Tomiyasu. Decent for mid-table Bologna, moved to Arsenal during the deadline day after all the italian teams refused to sign him. He's doing very well there
6. placed Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes. Bang average in Serie A, look a great player there. Diogo Dalot: squad player for Milan, regular starter for United. Incredible how Calabria's back up has costantly benched £50m English player Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the last months.

And I only took in account the top 6 teams, I think I can easily name another 20-25 players if I include all the other PL teams.

Lukaku played like shit against Lecce and Lazio.

I see Sinisa is back to his X-men days

Udinese up by 2 goals against Roma.

Samardzic looks a player. Just 20 yo

Roma are a bluff until proven otherwise. Told ya

In their defence every single side has lost point this season every weeknd and they are still second.

But yes let’s wait and see.

Southgate at the Roma game.

Poor Tammy. Caught him on an off day for Roma!

Bad slip up by Roma for sure, they should have capitalized on all the dropped point but it seems every single challenger is losing or drawing every other weekend.

Its been an absolute dog fight by all the challengers so far this season.

If Roma want to win the title (which is not their goal, their goal is top 4) these are the games you have to muscle out and take points from.

They dismantled a bunch of creampuffs, looked bad against the first decent opponent they faced and the second is beating them like drums

Juve can’t seem to beat anyone, inter lost to the only 2 decent teams they played and Milan look inconsistent, same as Napoli.

In other words, they have all been the same and all things considered a tie away to Juve is an incredible result that’s a gained point as opposed to a lost one. Keep in mind no Zaniolo or Gini

With that being said I don’t think they will be fighting for the title but I predict a top 4 finish.

However if they were to take advantage of all of these slip ups you never know.

Nonetheless only 1 point off the top nothing has been lost yet.

Milan had 2 draws away against actually good teams, and were good for the win in one of them. Inter lost to good teams. Napoli are like Roma, a bluff. As for Juventus, unless Allegri figures out how to coach a team that doesn't have a colossal talent advantage over everyone else, they'll be also rans too

Right now, it looks like it's going to be milan vs inter again. Honestly, probably just milan running away with the league. Levels above everyone else

Oh look, 3-0

I think Milan are favorites as well especially having the best player in the league Rafael Leao.

It is a long season though but I think Roma will sneak a top 4 spot.

Wow. Everyone I try to defend them they concede a goal !!!

A lot of the season comes down to Di Maria. If he's there to win the league, chances are juve will win the league. If he's there to prepare for the world cup at first class facilities and in a top league, they're screwed and Roma and Napoli and Atalanta might actually finally kick them out of top 4

Southgate feels like he wasted his time coming to watch this.

No World Cup place for Tammy.

Knowing Southgate, this is probably the only Serie A game he'll watch all year.

The english player that should make the squad is Tomori. Tammy can make it but there's plenty good strikers who can replace him

Tomori is arguably the best english CB around atm

To be fair not many English players play there.

I would say comfortably Tomori is the best English CB I’ve seen over the last 18 months.

So glad we didn't decide to take a punt on Dybala. I was initially excited by the thought of signing him.

He was the only Roma player who played well and tried to create stuff.

He's been pretty good so far for Roma. So technically gifted.

Tbf even Maguire would look great in current Serie A.

The overall level is shocking which explains the performamce of Italian teams in the CL recently.

This league makes AC Milan look like World beaters while they got demolished in the CL group stages last season. Even old strikers who can barely move a muscle tend to chip in with goals.

Tomori should make the WC team. Abraham is also a decent backup, but not that much needed. It depends how many places you got available. if he has to prioritise I’d rather have more wide-forwards options in the squad and only have Kane/Rashy as main strikers.

What are you on about ? They got robbed by Atletico and had to play most of the games without half their main players. Maignan, Leao, Kjaer all missed important games… And despite that only Pool looked clearly superior to them. The same Pool that had a very tough tie against Inter, losing at Anfield to a 10-men Inter…

You can give all the excuses under the Sun but it won't change the fact that the big Italian teams have severely underperformed in Europe over the last few years. It's been a consistent theme.

Be it Inter, Milan or Juve.....

The results don't lie. That's what I am on about.

It's true and let's be real, no italian team can compete for the Champions League and I fear that three heavy defeats are waiting for us in the next few days against PSG, Bayern and Liverpool..

Massimiliano Allegri when asked, yesterday, about the PSG game, he said he doesn't care much about the game at Parc de Princes and might make some rotation because the most important matches are the ones that come after, vs Monza, Benfica and Salernitana.
It's sad to hear but it's the truth and it shows the current Serie A level: Milan- Salzburg, Napoli- Ajax and Juve- Benfica are the must-win games nowadays. The ones against Liverpool, PSG and Chelsea games are just "bonus"..

That said, I have much more fun now than during the past decade when Juventus were making Serie A a one-team league.. I don't want to go back to 2014/18 quadriennium even if that means not having any italian CL contender..

Atalanta next two are Monza and Cremonese.

Fixture list godfather looking down on them to get nice points lead going into world cup break.:D

Only actual top 7 team they play away before November is Roma.

Strongly disagree. Tomori is a brilliant defender and I’m sure he’d be a brilliant defender elsewhere. I get what you’re trying to say but I think he’s an exception here not the rule.

Absolutely should make the team. Genuinely think he’s England’s best CB.

Cheeky title push incoming.

I agree with that. Currently, there are 5 teams that are clearly superior to everyone, not only to the Italian teams. And those 3 you name (PSG, Bayern and Liverpool) are among them, they'd normally crush anyone.

But what that poster was saying is utter bs. He reminds me of some who were telling us Rodgers' Leicester would win Serie A... Leicester, the FA Cup holders that got knocked out of EL by Moscow and Napoli before losing in the ECL to 7th placed Roma...

On your first point and given the current state of Serie A, I would focus on passing the group stage right now, even if it means surrendering the away game against the top team in the group. On your second point… you can see how the Germans are happy to feed Bayern or how the English are so proud of their League and contrast with how Italians are unhappy when Juventus is and acts as an international force. I dare to add that both points are strictly intertwined, also for the international relevance of the Italian NT: a very strong Juventus is historically the main feeder of a very strong Italian NT.

You know, casual fans’ opinions can be wild and any football forum really thrives on the most vocal, sensational ones. When I joined this forum, there was one poster writing out and loud that Conte should not have been given Chelsea’s managerial role because he needed to work as an assistant manager first, and for Mourinho at United to learn his trade. I mean, just have a laugh and move on, a football forum is not the MIT.

Weren’t Inter the only team to beat Pool last season at Anfield in the CL ? Also Bayern got knocked out by Villarreal.

It’s unlikely that a Italian team will win in Europe but I’m not sure the CL says a lot about the overall quality of any league.

Eh, the CL is not a farmers league unlike serie A or the PL, so performance in it doesn't really say much. Although we had a bunch of tilers in the sf last season....uh
