Italian Serie A - 2019-20

Piatek withdrawn after red card, huge whistles from San Siro.

Giampaolo showed last few years he's a talented coach but this feels like when Gasperini managed Inter for about five games.

Giampaolo is very average manager and deserves to be sacked but indeed the problems at AC Milan are deeper and bigger than the coach itself.

How come Rebic isn't playing much? Would've thought he'd be the sort ideal to buzz around forward line, particularly being a man light.

Class goal from Ribery and Chiesa, San Siro is applauding.

Ribery goes off to a standing ovation from the San Siro. 36 years old and still the best player on the pitch tonight.

Ribery's only problem in the past few years at Bayern were injuries and endurance. When he was playing he was still fantastic.

He was also great vs Juve a couple of weeks ago but had to get subbed off around the 60th minute becuase he couldn't run anymore.

Not just Liverpool, Spurs and city also made it to semi final. What was the last year 3 Italian teamsmade it to cl semifinals ?
A long time ago, but again, your argument is based on 2 seasons. Do you think that 3 seasons ago serie a and pl where pretty close and that la liga has been easily much better than pl for the vast majority of the last 15 years? I think not long ago Bundesliga was higher than pl in the coefficients, was bundesliga better than the pl?

Good goal by Leão but things are going terribly wrong for Giampaolo, I thought Fonseca job was going to be difficult, but I forgot AC Milan, on another hand I think Conte will make Inter competitive domestically, at Champions League level is another matter.

Half of that was from the disastrous Fassone-Mirabello duo

Anyways, milan's problem is still the same: they have no real top players who can carry the team on a psychological level

Giampaolo is a good coach, but a job like milan, especially now, requires a coach who is more than "good"

Still early anyways. Leao looks quite good, Piatek will get back to scoring and i rate bennacer. Think given time they'll turn it around. Still, not sure Giampaolo is the right man for them. Had they hired Conte instead, they'd be the ones leading the table right now

They invested more than Roma or Lazio in the recent years isn’t it? Maybe Napoli? Better even not talk about Atalanta. Clearly it’s not only related with the football coaches there.

Roma transfer movements this season was an embarrassment. They basically lost solid players like Manolas, El Sharaawy who despite being a strange folk did a very decent season last year, lost Pellegrini to Juve, loaned out Schick who despite not being a top player, he was offering depth to the squad, etc.

The incoming players were all underwhelming:
Pau Lopez is decent GK, but I don't think it was the most necessary position, Spinazolla was clearly overvalued, Cristante is not top team material, and the amount of loaned players they got indicate that they clearly entered panic mode.

They are basically worst than last season squad wise.

As I said before, I really pity Fonseca, because he's a very good manager and deserved a better squad.

I have to admit I am impressed by Sarri’s demeanour in pressers atm. He knows very well both Conte and Allegri did a great job before him, but he is confident enough to make his own bold statements because of the evidence he gains from data. In particular, he is now talking about the athletic parameters (condition is improving) and the importance to conquer and play the ball higher on the pitch than his predecessors, a trend increasingly supported by data and a true novelty for Juve. He would also like to convert more chances, which is nice to hear and possibly aimed at Ronaldo more than others, who all shoot less than their own standards when he is on the pitch. All in all, a refreshing approach and good results before the first real test in the Serie A away at Inter on Sunday evening.

Inter-Juve has so much hype behind it that it's bound to end up in a boring 0-0 with both teams being content with the result.

Milan dropped Donnarumma. Pepe Reina finally getting a game at Milan.

This is huge really. Milan lose this and they'd be in bottom 3 if Leece take a point from their game.

I mean I know the coach probably had to do something but has Donnarumma been that bad?

Haven't seen enough of them. Donna had no chance with goals last week and saved a penalty.

I always thought it was wierd Reina went there considering he was number one at Napoli.

It deflected a little but still right through him!

Another great Giampaolo decision....

Milan has become so shit... hopefully United can stop the "after Fergie" freefall before reaching Ac Milan levels of fallen giant.

Reina also shit.. huge mistake.

Donnarumma is ill. Threw up during warm up
