Italian Serie A - 2019-20

That only matters if it hits an opposition player.. If its on goal but touches someone from the attacking side, its that persons goal.

If it took a deflection off Sanchez, its his goal..

Makes sense. Without the deflection, it was probably an easy save for the keeper.

Lukaku been huge for inter since coming on.

Nearly scores a wondergoal but fecks up the cheeky finish

Fair enough.

Good play from Lukaku since coming on.

Yeah, important plays for Inter with them down to 10.

Sampdoria having dismal season, surprised by that as they still have decent players in their squad.

Been pretty weird. Just a team that isn't consistent within games, struggles to make their chances count and falls to pieces at a moment's notice. This was the first game in which they were thoroughly outplayed

Or maybe you need to watch more Serie A. This isn't the first time Inter started great and then fecked it up in the 2nd part of the season.

edit: Last 2 seasons after 11 rounds

If they beat Juve then i'll give them a chance.
Not about how they started great its about how if you watch them and see the aura around the club it is obvious to see they are contenders. Best team in Seria A atm as Juventus are yet to convince this season (does not mean they won't get better).

Conte is doing at Inter what he did at Juve the first time around.

Nice games incoming: Barca-Inter & Juve-Bayer midweek, then Inter-Juve on Sunday evening before the international break.

Conte would happily field the reserves in the CL in order to focus on the league but... he can’t. Juve must be resolute because CL games are more intense than Serie A and conceding early would mean a long, tiring night. :wenger:

We had a 1-0 win over Lecce...not our best performance but a decent one at least.

Mkhitaryan got the assist but aside from that, he wasn't anything amazing which can be said for our attacking players today and the midfield. Kluivert had some good moments but wasn't consistent. When Zaniolo came on, he was good, offered pace, was taking players on which the game really needed.

Aside from one moment where Smalling got beat, he had an excellent game. Looked commanding, was winning his headers, unlucky not to score from a corner and his passing into the midfield was very good. I think his positioning can still improve but nonetheless he was the pick of the players and my MotM today.

Nice to have Roma fan on here. I've said before they might be a bridesmaid team in style of Spurs or Bayer Leverkusen but I always enjoy some of the players they find and 11s they create.

What happened to Under btw, just a flash in the pan or more to come?

I understand what you mean by the players we find... shame we can't keep them. We could've had a spine of Allison, Benatia, Manolas, Naingollan, Strootman, Pjanic, Salah, Dzeko etc.

I have a lot of hope Under, he is very talented, it's just injuries are screwing him over.

Pulgar, who scored the penalty, arrived only this season from Bologna, and has taken over their set pieces. (now 3/3 penalties converted)

Maybe the only chilean player to come since the gold generation, with the level to be a top class player.

It seems that many players who were considered "finished" elsewhere are doing good in Serie A - Sanchez, Rubery, Mikhitaryan to name some.
Imo it s because the level of teams in the bottom half of Serie A is poor.
Anyway we have to see what happens later on during the season, cause it s a bit early to draw conclusions

Different cases. Mkhytarian is somebody that needs a special environment to click. And his best postion is one that is not liked anymore in big teams. Sanchez and United weren't compatible.

Ribery is 36. At Bayern he still had his highlights last season and did not really have injury problems. But he could not play 90 minutes twice a week on the wing anymore. At Firenze he now has a different position in a young team and does not have to do so much defensive work anymore. But in parts of the match he can still make the difference. And in Munich he already took young players "under his wings" and he seems to do a similar job now.

Milan is being booed off the pitch at half time. Giampaolo isn't going to last much longer. Shame because he isn't the problem, the club has problems that run much deeper.

Yes, I think the poster you replied to has a very simplistic view.

...financial issues left behind by the former Chinese owners apparently. They even tried to sell donnarumma in summer due to his wage but didn't manage.

Don't think so. Serie A is not demanding as Epl for sure.

Ok, and Salah came from Serie A and became top goal scorer. You have to take into account the change in context and playing styles. If Ribery is asked to be going up and down he doesn't survive at his age in Serie A either.

He s an exception rather than the rule. If you look at budgets of serie A teams and compare them to Epl teams, you realise the big gap there is.
In order to bridge the gap Italian government reduced taxation but still Epl is much stronger as a league

Yes, but you can say that for most leagues. It's not just down to budgets, it's how the players fit into a team and what you are asking from them.

Milan down to 16th in live table.

Watched a bit of first half and they seem to be coaching from the David Moyes manual....cross after cross after cross being punted into the box.

If you look at the budgets then United has been one of the top teams in the world the last years....

The pl is very good and overall better than serie a, but your view is indeed very simplistic. There are players that flop in serie a and succed in pl and vice versa.

But Uefa champions league rankings should be a good indicator, ?

So your whole argument is basically based on liverpool befoming arguably the best team in the world? Before the last two season the coefficients were very similar, they are higher now because liverpools success las two seasons and last years Europa league.

Not just Liverpool, Spurs and city also made it to semi final. What was the last year 3 Italian teamsmade it to cl semifinals ?
