I don't think we'll get both, it's 1 or the other. We're facing another season with no fans which is a big hit, Dortmund aren't going to drop their price and we haven't been able to afford that this summer as it is.
I want a good dribbler, someone whos good 1vs1. World class talent. We already have pacey winger from Championship in Daniel James. Where would we need another pacey Championship winger? He looks average. I really hope this only negotation tactic. Better to go with Greenwood and James than use 40M for Sarr.
I don't even want him but it's slightly unfair to label someone a Championship winger when he has 1 appearance in the competition.
He's Daniel James 2.0 fast and thats about it. Really limited player, I hope we don't waste 40M on him.

If Sancho isn't signed before the window closes and Sarr is instead will highlight once again the lack of ambition the United board has.
If it was a situation where we had made significant improvements in other key positions but decided Sancho wasn't worth the money then (based on what I've seen of him) I'd be quite happy with Sarr. He wouldn't be in any way a transformative signing but he wouldn't really need to be. He'd be more depth in a position where we badly need more depth and would fill out the profile of the squad. And, who knows, maybe more than that.
The problem is we haven't made that significant improvement elsewhere. So any signings we make between now and the close of the transfer window really need to be able to do a lot of heavy lifting over the season. Signing Sancho wouldn't help our other problem positions but (if he proves to be as good as we think) he could have the sort of impact that helps carry the team over its other faults. With the best will in the world, Sarr isn't going to do that.
If we were to end up signing him, I'd be reminded of what Van Gaal said since leaving:

I suspect Solskjaer might have a similar tale to tell if his time here ends in failure.

We know being wanted by other teams is no warranty. Fred and Alexis were Pep wet dreams werent they? see how they turned out.
He played great against Liverpool because they gave him all the space to attack. Like I said, he's like Daniel James, when giving time and space he'll burn anyone on pace besides that he doesnt offer anything much.
5 goals and 4 assists seems really poor for a 40M player dont it? and it wasnt exactly like he was putting great numbers in France either, actually he has never managed to get double digits. I'll call it now, if we waste 40M on him well be talking the same as we do as Daniel James, with the exception that at least James is shit but he cost us half.
I think we will end up wth Sarr as I cant see Sancho happening this week, maybe January or next summer it might be on. I only saw highlights but he seems mainly RF but does mainly play on RW. he looks better than James and is the same age. £40 mill is reasonable for a 22 year old with premier experience.
I'd prefer him over Sancho.

I also can't imagine any of them having faith in this club going forward unless fighting for top 4 and getting to semi finals of cups is sufficient enough to stay around and pick up huge wages.

Hmmm from the little I’ve seen it looks like we will have to take a leap of faith with this one. I don’t really see anything special... Our scouting has still been patchy since Ole came in so I don’t know what to expect. Jota would have been a markedly safer investment for around the same price. we’ve got gaps all over the attack really and another 2 footed player with PL experience would have fit in quickly. Sarr seems like a pretty expensive punt. We could probably get Chiesa for the same who’s surely shown more so far?

He's not an improvement on Greenwood and that is the point. We can't play Greenwood every minute of every game.

From what I've seen of Saar, didnt see much special in him. I also think Sancho is overrated around here. I think the true talent, thats Dembele but yeah anyway, Saar I guess for a low price thats fine but honestly didnt see much special in him. Good player, yeah sure. Just not special. For 40 million would be a great buy no doubt. Just dont expect ballon d'or.

Somehow I don't think if Salah, Mane, Firmino joined us they wouldn't have developed into the players they are today.
40m is way too much for him... he has potential but we just aren't the right environment for him imo. He strikes me as someone who needs to develop into a good player elsewhere before taking the step up, otherwise he won't handle the pressure.
I dont rate him that much, better than Dan James and would take him for cheap as backup but i hope we get someone better
