I really think he’s special. Just watching him, you can tell he’s got it. The touch, the technique, the Modric.
I know I’m getting way ahead of myself here but I think post-Bruno, him and Mejbri can be the ball-players in midfield with a DM sitting, and will allow us to actually control games against big teams. Not sure where that leaves Shola. This is assuming they all develop as expected.
I’m very excited about him because of how rare this type of player is, and how valuable they are.
Think of the CL dynasties built on these types of players. Real don’t win 3 in 4 without Modric and Kroos, Barca don’t win 2 in 3 without Xavi and Iniesta.

Modric and Kroos who they bought when they were already players with a high profile. That should tell you how likely your scenario is with "expected" development. We'll have done well if he develops into someone who can play the same amount as McTominay or Fred and perform better. Thats all he needs to concentrate on and everyone else should just calm down and let him get on with it
Don’t care how “unlikely” it is; it’s possible which is more than I could say about most other midfield talents we’ve had in the academy for years. You make it sound like I’m stood in front of his door stopping him going to training.

I have to agree with NYAS and say he does look a superb young talent that offers genuine hope that he could potentially develop into a metronome at first team level. It'll be interesting to follow his development in the coming years due to his very interesting profile imo.
Isak Hansen-Aarøen is a really impressive player that needs the time and space to develop into the player we hope he can become.
From watching the current batch of youth players from the u18 to u23 we have some outstanding talents, they won't all make it but a fair few will have great careers at united or other clubs if they get the luck. What impressed me most is their control and awareness around them, I know that all youth players that get to play for united underage teams have to be exceptional but this crop is outstanding. it will be very exciting to see how they develop none more than Isak Hansen-Aarøen who is so smooth in his movement as he glides around the pitch.

Agree with this. In theory, Hansen, Mejbri, with Garner in behind them - could be a top quality trio in a few years. It certainly has all of the components that I like in a midfield, but such a midfield will likely have to be in life after Ole, as he seems to prefer different qualities.
Have high hopes for him. Please be our future midfield maestro

I'm telling you, this kid has it all. He is definitely the future and it is obvious why we went so hard for him. A central midfielder with so much technique and vision. Hoping to see a lot of him this season. an impressive signing for sure.
I would have to agree that Hansen looks like a special talent, very exciting to watch. He has a similar style to Davide Silvia. If he can continue to work hard and grow a little we could be a playmaker for years to come.
He absolutely has more bite, pace and feist than Silva. I think he's more of a CM in the end, Modric would be a more fitting comparison IMO.
How does he compare to someone like Mats Møller Dæhli? I remember there being massive hype around him a decade ago.
Yes, I remember Mats, to me it was at a time of signing a foreign kid with a big reputation and junior international career was wow!!. Ole and the media talked him up big time so he was someone to really watch. Now, we have loads of imported kids. I remember watching him on MUTV and whilst he carried himself well he never really stood out as exceptional. I think of Galbraith or Levitt type qualities. He played 18's and 23's and that was it. Molde, Cardiff, German teams and Genk in the end.
When Hansen arrived he was very young but came with this huge reputation of playing against men in his homeland at such a young age and doing well. He started off slow and I thought he wasn't nothing great but I heard he was struggling with home sickness and being in England. There was talk of going back home but it didn't happen. After this, in the past year he has gone from strength to strength and his international highlights look also very impressive and commanding. Very confident on the ball and has a real eye for a pass and shot. You could see him as a 6 or a 8 as he can turn, handle the press and move the ball forward. He has the ability to turn off the man and get away. I don't think like Amad speed but pretty rapid. To me, he owns the midfield and has that aura like a mini Modric as Mickson mentioned, or even I feel personally, a Kroos with ball playing skills. He just seems to have that understanding in game scenarios that I don't see a lot. Watching Daniel Gore this season in midfield in 18's he is more combative, Hansen seems to pull the strings so different type of mid.

Thanks for the write up, sounds very promising - but I don't really watch youth teams any more so can't really judge for mysel!
I share those sentiments. I wasn’t particularly impressed with Hansen when he first arrived, but then he went back to Norway, dyed his hair blonde and came back a new player (maybe Tromso finally sent us Hansen back and they sent someone else the first time!).
He looks to have it all, and is the exact sort of player we need in the first team. Pure class, looks after the ball so well and keeps the team moving.
Whoa, throwback. That was around the time I started to become seriously invested in all things our club and I was convinced he was going to be class. The jumpers knee held him back, promise!
I remember a time when I found out about the Da Silva twins before they actually signed for the club! I read an interview they gave wearing their Fluminense shirts!

He started slowly with just glimpses of his talent, then disappeared for a while, came back and started to show his ability more often, and then has disappeared again so far this season.
He's got very good technical ability and creativity in midfield, along with pace and mobility. Modric is a good comparison but he did so well to overcome his lack of height as a central midfielder and had a good physical presence for his height that allowed him to compete. I do think Hansen will have to fill out and improve physically to play in a two man midfield in the PL.
But, technically, he is very good with his footwork, vision and passing ability and could play as a #10 if he sufficiently develops his end product to become the kind of playmaker he promises to be at 16/17.

Based on their first season, Daehli was more instrumental in dictating play and for me stood out a lot more. To be fair to Hansen, he has had a stop/start career to date so let's see what happens.
Hansen is hands down the best player in the U18's
Absolutely, Google up his 18's matches for Norway. He looks so composed against the best of talent his own age. He definitely has the tools and as mentioned by Mr MUJAC, it has been stop start. We seem to get a few of them (mostly injuries) Hansen, Noah E, Willy K (hardly played) Mejia. Elanga has had injuries when he looked a chance of playing 1sts, Hannibal keeps getting ed carded at wrong times. Even the cream like these boys get set backs and injuries can ruin careers before they even start. We had an overseas junior midfielder quite a few years ago showing promise who was taken out in a reserve game and never came back better for it. Forgotten his name.
Last time when he was out for a while he came back 3x the player he was so I wouldn't be worried much.
He has the calmness which is pretty rare.
Are you thinking of Possebon? Think it was some Middlesbrough twat that took him out in a cup game wasn't it? Cleverley was Davies from Bolton. Ultimately though, the problem was that neither had the character for the top level, they went into their shells after those setbacks.

He reminds me of a young slightly more athletic Scholes. Further away from goal (Scholes shooting was always lethal) but a similar deal passing and ghosting between the lines at the same age
