Cant be many worse players than Wieghorst that have played for us in the premier league...

Ive seen players like Bebe, Prunier, Obertan, Djemba x2, Kleberson,Cruyff, Manucho, but they all had something about them, they all had an attribute that you would say was useful..they all contributed even if it didnt work out or they werent consistent.

However ability wise Wieghorst offers nothing, he is so ineffective and slow, trying hard and jogging about shouldnt warrant being a Man utd player. ETH far more qualified than me to see what he brings but despite my best efforts to support WW, i find myself sympathising with the guy.

Absolutely categorically definitely not

Weghorst isn't the worst either. Wouldn't even make a top 10.

So you don't rate Erik as a manager then?

He is definitely worse than the bolded ones, and the ones in italic barely played. So, yes, if the question is "to get significant game time". We had some random academy players like Donald Love play once or twice under LVG who would have to considered a lot worse.

He's arguably the worst to have played more than 10 Premier League matches.

On the contrary ETH is a breath of fresh air, massive fan of his.
What i did say is that i think Wieghorst is one of the worst players i have seen play for us.

In before the lock.

Also in response to the OP...No.

No, what a ridiculous and reactionary question. He’s clearly far below the required standard but to compare him to, say, Manucho is just stupid.

Nah.

It's Alexis Sanchez.

In terms of expectations, nobody really expected much from him and he's delivered.

He at least tries. That's about it.

Reactionary in what sense? ive watched every minute he has played for the club, ive tried to support him like every player but he offers nothing but jogging about and a bit of passion.

Manucho could hold the ball up, he could head a ball, he had useful attributes just couldnt stay fit. Wieghorst offers nothing on the football side.

He does try, that isnt in question. However in terms of ability he offers nothing.
Sanchez along with Di Maria was arguably the biggest disappointment, but they could impact a game or offer something on the football side as opposed to trying hard.

He's shite, but he offers work rate which was more than Sanchez or Di Maria offered.

He's also not a worse player than Bebe, Obertan, Manucho or Bellion for a start. Then you have other obvious candidates like Clegg, Cruyff, Poborsky, Buttner, Djemba x2, Kleberson.

Wout probably doesn't even make the bench for a rubbish xi.

Not the worst but if you think we can play a beautiful football with him up front, or as a number 10 then you're out of your mind. Our team looks like a team with two styles combined together. There are players that are good at controlling the match, they pass properly, they bait opponents, not panicking whenever they get pressed, etc. and then on the other half you have Fellainis, the enigmas that you thought play for Westham under Big Sam but without the chest control - hardworking but look clumsy and can be frustrating.

What worries me is how long it took EtH to realise the guy shouldn't be anywhere near the team.

I can't fault his effort, but he's a "big" man who can't head or hold the ball up.

I'd rather he bought Pellistri on.

I agree we had some mercenaries that didnt play for the shirt....but they could impact a game.
i disagree i think Bebe and Obertan could beat a player, could shoot, had pace and could impact a game. Bellion was one of the worst i agree.
As a footballer IMHO WW is the worst, work rate and trying doesnt mean you are a good footballer, all the others offered something football wise

Fecking stupid thread. There are people on here who just live to take the piss out of our players and seem to get a fecking kick out of it. Check the Maguire thread as an example. Embarrassing stuff.

A full dutch international and is doing a job for Erik so he must be doing something right.

All feels a bit unpleasant to me this.

In what sense? i dont think any of us hate the guy, he is a trier. When he puts on the shirt im sure we all support him.He does show passion for the shirt, he is prob living the dream. Its nice for him and i can understand why there is some love for him in the cafe.
My point is, as a technical footballer, he has zero impact on the pitch.

Kleberson was injured a lot, when he played he wasn't good enough for United but he could play. Obertan also wasn't "how is this guy a professional footballer" bad. Bebe and Djembax2 were that bad but they barely played - Bebe especially got very little minutes and most of them were in the early rounds of cups. Bellion could be a good shout, I hardly remember him tbh.

In terms of technical ability he's the worst I've seen in 30+ years.

Overall he also has to be one of if not the worst that's played a decent amount of games.

Its a genuine question, its not a witchhunt, i just wanted to see what fans think, some agree some dont, opinions vary.
WW tries, fans like that, I like that, but as a footballer he offers nothing other than hard work IMHO.

Taibi, I was at that Southampton game and he was hilarious.

The worst to me is still Bebe. I remember the time when he had all the space and time on that right hand side and kept crossing the ball to the stands. Also had that clueless look, I believe even himself couldn't believe he was playing for United.

He is not even close. The fact that it’s thought is absurd.
Is there a player who actually got a decent amount of minutes (I realise OP doesn't specify that) that you think was so much worse than Weghorst that it isn't close?

It feels mean to me for anyone to be talked about so negatively, whilst they're still playing for us, when their lack of form is clearly not for want of trying. It is too close to mocking for my tastes even where it doesn't fully veer in to such.

I also think the old passion and effort you are quite willing to credit him with does actually result in his performances being better than some of the disinterested ones seen in the past from players, including some current stars.

I agree, i think most of them are just trolls trying to get a reaction out of people. They love a good Straw man arguement on here.

In a shiteness to minutes ratio absolutely and it's not even close.

We've had poor players but they usually get sparse minutes so there has been relatively little negative impact to the team. Weghorst has played pretty much every game for four months. I can't even think of who could rival him.

Falcao had 4 goals in 26 apps, and he at least had the excuse of coming back prematurely from a major injury.

Watching him slip all the time was funny in a morbid way though.

Its close, but he managed to score 4 goals under LVG's shite tactics

Didn't one of them literally accidentally deflect off him and into the net?

Also he just spent games (when he wasn't falling over) hiding - one thing you can say about Wout is, he doesn't hide.
