Not to crap on your post, as I like your optimism but...
- Why would Declan Rice want to come here, when 1 he will no doubt get his dream move to Chelsea if he holds out one more Summer, and 2 he looks around at our club and seems a downward trajectory with the squad arguably getting weaker in Summer with players that are leaving?
- Like Rice, what is going to entice Ten Haag to join us, when if he holds out longer he may get even better offers?
- You just KNOW it's going to be Poch who we hire, because this is Manchester United.
- Laird, Hannibal and Garner won't improve our starting 11 next season, and certainly not to the level of a team that is meant to be a Top4 contender.
- Losing Pogba, Lingard, Ronaldo, Cavani and Greenwood is going to require significant investment, which we will not get from the Glazers.
- Sancho may not do a 'Havertz' and turn out to be very good next season. In fact, even though he was good the other night, I think he is a very high concern and doesn't look like he has 'the fight' in him to become one of the best in the World and drive this team forward.
- This team requires upgrades in the following positions: CM x2, LB, RB, and 2 strikers. That is ALOT.
No worries, happy to debate...
1. It might not be Rice that we sign but someone of that ilk, in any case i do think Rice would sign for us personally. We're one of the biggest clubs in the world, the same way Barcelona wont struggle to attract talent
2. As above
3. You might be right, personally i cant see Poch leaving PSG, and even if it was, it would be an upgrade on what we have had previously.
4. I dont think any individual will improve our starting lineup, the best teams start with a willingness to work hard, i think a decent coach and bringing through some of the younger players will help in that respect. I've enjoyed seeing the positivity from Elanga for example, and i think he's had a positive impact on our starting lineup (ignoring the penalty miss
)
5. Losing Greenwood is a huge blow, i agree, but the others just arent in my view. I'd take a player who runs himself into the ground and gives everything for the team over those players that stroll around all game, granted you lose a bit of quality but we need to get the basics back
6. Sancho has started poorly thats inarguable, but in the same way he might not turn out to be very good, he may rediscover his Dortmund form and be an excellent player, he's only 21 after all.
7. I agree on the striker point, which is going back to Greenwood, it really has caused us a problem. However, I disagree on the LB one, Shaw was outstanding last year, he's had a poor season and i wouldnt write him off yet. Also dont agree on 2xCM, we certainly need 1 of high quality but Rice (or equivalent) would elevate those around him in my view, as he does at West Ham. So for me thats 2 new players, big investments but not unreasonable.
Just my opinion of course, could and may well be totally wide of the mark, time will tell!
