I would guess. Most people who watch football know who Lingard is.Globally recognized???

Highly doubt that, maybe in the UK but globally?I would guess. Most people who watch football know who Lingard is.
Hes got to be on his way out but we have to be careful with how we handle it, he looks to be best friends with Rashford, Pogba and who knows who else. We dont want him unsettling things.
If we are playing they way we are and winning trophies it wont matter a jot. How many other players have had dressing room influence and have been moved on. There is always winners and losers friends and colleagues that move on.Precisely this. He isn't good enough to be starting or even on the bench currently but he is a massive influence in the dressing room and seems to have a great relationships with many of the squad. Is it worth keeping him around on the fringes if he's happy to do that? It keeps the team happy and he's not the worst player in the world, he can do a job when needed.
If we ever reach to a point where someone's friendships or relationships are being prioritized over the talent, then as a club we are doomed. Period.Hes got to be on his way out but we have to be careful with how we handle it, he looks to be best friends with Rashford, Pogba and who knows who else. We dont want him unsettling things.
How much would you be prepared to pay him to be, effectively, a cheerleader / players mate?Precisely this. Is it worth keeping him around on the fringes if he's happy to do that? It keeps the team happy and he's not the worst player in the world, he can do a job when needed.
It’s almost like people don’t remember what United has always been before being polluted post 2013. We sold on Phil Neville, Nicky Butt and David Beckham. One of those had a brother in the eleven. All were part of the “Class of 92”. You don’t keep people for “being good influences in the dressing room”. David May and Denis Irwin were much loved too. Once a player is not going to be playing its best for all parties that he moves on.Precisely this. It sounds like the person you should really be hating is yourself. My resentment comes from looking forward to a game for a few days, then see his name in the starting lineup and instantly knowing that we will be struggling for attacking cohesion and creativity. That's been the case for a few years now, if not for that purple patch.
He's a player who occupies one of the front four positions, who doesn't score, create or attack with any conviction. So blunt and boring to watch, and it's been going on for years. He has to go now.
Then surely your angst should be directed solely at the manager who pick the team, not the player. My resentment comes from looking forward to a game for a few days, then see his name in the starting lineup and instantly knowing that we will be struggling for attacking cohesion and creativity. You said your resentment of him comes from the resentment of your own feelings about seeing him on the teamsheet.Wow, as a United fan who's hardly missed a game for thirty years, I dislike the player Jesse Lingard for his performances, and your answer is that I should hate myself?
Excellent post, and my sentiments expressed better than I could. It’s almost like people don’t remember what United has always been before being polluted post 2013. We sold on Phil Neville, Nicky Butt and David Beckham. One of those had a brother in the eleven. All were part of the “Class of 92”. I don’t hate Jesse. It’s not his fault he’s not of the required standard. Nor is it his fault that the club and managers like LvG and Jose didn’t recruit for that position. Nor was it his doing that the club gave him a bumper deal. He’s a bit silly on social media but so are tons of others. He’s a boyhood fan and loves the club. I’d have been very happy if he were playing well enough to be a decent squad member. Nothing like an academy grad for that role. But his confidence is shot. It must be crushing and absolutely soul-destroying to see his own club’s fans booing him and trolling him.
For his own sake as much as the team’s, its best he makes a fresh start somewhere else. I’m sure he’s not as bad as he shows when playing for us these days. I wish him well - but it’s time to go.
You serious? Keep a nothing player in the squad because of his mates???Precisely this. He isn't good enough to be starting or even on the bench currently but he is a massive influence in the dressing room and seems to have a great relationships with many of the squad. Perhaps you might also consider that the reason the manager picks Lingard is because he doesn’t have any better options available, proven by fact that it’s taken a new acquisition in Bruno and the sudden emergence of Greenwood to give the manager that possibility.
Not sure what Lingard does wrong by fulfilling his contract and tying his best.
Yep. I don’t disagree with people saying it’s not his fault he’s not good enough but when you act like a twat and you’re a drag on our performances people are going to dislike you. That Lingardinho video is the perfect illustration of why he’s so disliked by a lot of fansOf course that's the most logical sense, I know he doesn't pick himself. I just don't like watching him play, can't help it. We should have strengthened in his position a while ago, but he has continued to tread water until now.
By the looks of things Solskjaer thought he could be a starter this season and that has blown up in his face. That's the manager's fault but that has arguably cost us dearly this season.
You said your resentment of him comes from the resentment of your own feelings about seeing him on the teamsheet.
Not liking the player for his performances is fine.
Watching United for 30 years is irrelevant. It doesn't validate anything in your post.
Isn't Zlatan quite close to Maxwell? Both 38.You think Zlatan is the sort of person who has 'best mates'? There was probably no one who he had a close friendship with, as in, spending lots of time together outside of training and travelling.
So logically speaking, you agree your hate should be directed at the manager and not Lingard. Which would invalidate your original statement.Of course that's the most logical sense, I know he doesn't pick himself. I just don't like watching him play, can't help it. We should have strengthened in his position a while ago, but he has continued to tread water until now.

It turned sour when he was promoting his clothing line on derby day, same as when Sanchez started tweeting about his clothing line a few hours after the defeat to Brighton.I don't think fans moan because he smiles a bit and has jokes on camera. I think the problem is when United were lingering in mid table and the fans see Lingard serving up shite on the pitch and then acting like a child without a care in the world off it after another embarrassing defeat. I've no doubt he deeply cares about United and wish him all the best when he leaves but his character is simply not befitting of a United player. You look at Martial the other night coming off looking pissed off because he wasn't able to get his goal in a 3-0 win and that's what I want to see, the standards are raising again. Players like Lingard are a great example of how low our standards became over the past 6 years.

No you aren't.
He is an united player. Of course entire world knows him.Highly doubt that, maybe in the UK but globally?
You just gave us 3 of them. Twat. That's ok - people that come out with the 'Zlatan doesn't...' quotes sound like twats anyway. So I'd rather be in the wrong!
No, they don't.He is an united player. Of course entire world knows him.
You just gave us 3 of them. Twat.
TwatIt's ok, I was only impersonating a Twat. And apparently did it wrong anyway (according to your good self)
I'm clearly a Twat.
“He can still do a job” is a phrase that keeps getting peddled about Lingard, and it makes me ask “what job?”
He’s not creative, he doesn’t offer a goal threat, he can really only play one position. Running? Is that what we consider doing a job now?
Scott McT is an example of a player who can do a job. He has limitations but brings attributes and a versatility that means he can be useful even in the biggest games. Jesse Lingard is not a player who can do a job, at least not for a club looking to actually compete at a high level.
Good riddance. I don't know if he has had so many appearances the last few years because we've been terrible or we've been terrible because he's had so many appearances.
Jesse?
