There's been 1 summer window since Covid, hardly a great sample size.

And there's actually 3 I believe - Havertz, Dias and Osimhen. Might be forgetting others.

True about Pogba, however he only has a year left on his deal and he'll be 28.

Are Dortmund in need of money? Any more than other clubs? Wasn't aware they had any real financial difficulties.

I missed Osihem, that's hugely surprising. Havertz and Dias are right around that mark (and both from clubs that don't need to make money, and owners who will have benefitted financially from this crisis), and similar to what Sancho should cost.

Dortmund just announced an operating loss of 75m Euros, driven by Covid. They need to sell players this summer to plug that.

That's kind of my point - we're holding the cards this time.
 
80m for a struggling player seems a strange move to me. Plus he will want a big wage. It could end up in a lot of pressure on a young lad that comes from a bad season already and he could totally flop leaving us with another Sanchez mega contract situation, where there is no takers. At least he's young.

There is absolutely zero evidence that we made any offer at all, never mind nearly $100m. That is extremely naive to believe these owners would sanction such a move. You are a victim of media speculation. What makes you think they didn’t walk away, other than media speculation and an interminable thread on Red Cafe? Call it extremely petty all you like but I, amongst thousands of long standing matchgoing reds are extremely pissed off at what was the world’s wealthiest club being used as an investment opportunity. I understand the flip side of Sancho, but it doesn’t alter the fact that he could have exerted more pressure without handing in a transfer request. Despite you having decreed “it is a myth...” again, you haven’t a clue. Ole has already implied Diallo will feature, not next but this season, and making noises about Shoretire. We have gone over a decade since Valencia was our last rw, so waiting another year for 3x current prospects would deem any idea of Sancho unnecessary and expensive. The Glazers are averse to expensive. ...and even if we had purchased Sancho, there is no chance we would’ve brought in vdb.

this is clearly rubbish considering how much times we have not scored in games or scored just 1 goal, we need a top ST and RW we have been crying out for both for years, yes we need CB and DM but lets not get clouded by scoring 9 goals the other night or 5 v Leipzig.

May be more so that we don't have a goal scoring CF. Getting a winger is meaningless unless he scores 20+ goals per season. We need someone who finishes chances.

this season is still on-going so evidently I’m not talking about the current campaign. Sancho was out of form for roughly two months this season. He’s on 21 goal contributions in 25 games. In what world is that “shite”?

He’s an exceptional player

It maybe a sign of a "promising" player but that don't make them worth 60-80M. How many players that look decent in Dortmund setup only to flame out elsewhere.

If Bruno has proved anything, its that we should stop paying over the top money on hype. Greenwood put up better numbers but I doubt anyone is going to pay 60-80M for him just yet, maybe we should just let him develop and be patient. Unfortunately, statboys don't understand football.

Sancho does have 8 goals and 13 assists this season in 25 games (actually 22 games if we go by minutes). 3 goals and 2 assists were in their cup against lower tier opposition, but the rest of the stats came in the Bundesliga and CL.

He obviously started the season poorly but he does seem to be getting back to normal over the last two months or so. Considering those first 2-3 months of this season is pretty much the only poor form he's had in the last two and a half years, it does show an extremely high level of consistency considering his age. 13 goals and 20 assists at the age of eighteen, 20 goals and 20 assists at the age of nineteen, and now 8 goals and 13 assists in half a season at twenty.

Sancho has been significantly better and more consistent than all the other names that people put forward that have failed like Kagawa, Mkhitaryan, Havertz and Werner (it's still early days for the latter two and might easily come good), and he's done it at a younger age. He's English himself, came through the English youth ranks, and was the best player in an incredibly dominant national youth team ahead of the likes of Foden. Obviously there's still a chance he might fail, but he's far more likely to succeed than any of those other players were.

People rewriting history with Sancho. He's had an underwhelming season so far, but to say his past two seasons weren't world class is just plain wrong. Kid was 20 putting up Messi numbers.

He's a phenomenal talent, in the top tier. I just don't think we will go back in for him. We have signed Amad who is only a few years younger, not to add, I think this season is making it evident to Ole we need a proper CF. He is dropping Martial on occasion for Cavani and has regularly spoke about wanting a striker who will score proper 'striker goals'.

Wouldn't be surprised if Haaland was our major target
 
With all the recent Bundesliga flops looking at Werner and Havertz in particular, I will be wary of paying an arm and a leg for Sancho. No doubt he is a good player but great? Give me a break. All English players get hyped up so massively.
 
It appears he's over his bad patch now.

5 goals and 4 assists in the last 8 games, mostly from RW. If rumours are true that Dortmund have lowered their price for this summer, as many thought they would, he might be worth going back in for.

To be fair he is putting up Messi numbers when Messi was just a kid, at around 19-20. But then, like Ronaldo, Messi wasn’t as lethal during his early years.

Coronavirus was good for the football because the money on the transfer market was just ridiculous since the transfer of Neymar to Paris........for example a player like Sancho should cost maybe £60-70m in normal times.

The bosses of "The healthiest club" (Rummenigge, Hainer and Dreesen) have said in the last couple of weeks that the club can't make big investments "without knowing the future of fans at football" and the good informed press around Bayern Munich says that the club can only sign one player in the price category of around €40m without the sales of other players.
 
I would love for Sancho to be signed up to ManUtd, but at 100M, no, that's crazy money even if there no pandemic.

Perhaps we can snap him up once he has only 1 year on his contract and BVB will accept lesser fee, perhaps around 50M-60M.

for Manchester United to have the group of (Bruno, Rashford, Cavani, Martial, Sancho, Greenwood & Diallo), Ole will have plenty of attacking options to pick from, City got (KdB, Aguero, Sterling, B.Silva, Mahrez, Foden, Jesus, Torres)

He has 3 league goals. Sorry if I wasn't clear. currently we have only Rashford and maybe Bruno who can get 15-20 league goals so we need another if we want any hope of challenging
 
We still desperately need a RW, so I still desperately want Sancho.

Maybe a certain youngster will make the need to buy a new RW less important, but we're not at that point yet.
 
Is Sancho even a RW? Seems like most of his goals and assists come in Rashford’s position.
 
Simple answer is no. Unless we can get him for cut-price around £50m...anything above that and we are getting rinsed and it will also be a huge gamble.

I'd rather spend any big money on Grealish.

I'm pretty up to speed on Jadon Sancho thanks very much, i use my eyes and watch football matches he plays in rather than stat websites.

He's a very good player but the jury is out whether he is top tier (100 million quid) as whenever i have seen him for England or in the CL he has underwhelmed.

The problem with judging a player on stats. You don't know exactly how he will fit the team. If people who have watched Dortmund in CL and in BL, they will be aware that alot of his goals have come on the counter, Rashy would score the same if not more in that league.

When it comes to CL, International, teams are defensively better and have lower blocks, in which he starts to struggle a little bit. Not saying he is rubbish but he is not 100m player yet.

Its the same as say, Thiago when everyone wanted him to play DLP, you can see now at Liverpool that there are frailties in his game, he dives in way too much to play that role.

His abilities are amazing but for £20m he was worth it because of what he brings but with Sancho, I do think 100m odd is way too much for a player.

I said go look at 2018/19 and 2019/20, pull up the numbers and compare it against his peers. I even helped you out with a link showing the kind of company he’s found himself next to in terms of productivity.

You randomly started talking about a season that hasn’t even concluded yet, one that’s supposed to be a season in which “he’s been shite”, but even then, the guy has 8 goals and 13 assists in 25. Now it’s “my eye test” :lol:

Simply put. For 100m the player has be THE match winner. A guy who you can rely on to win you games but also push you on to challenge for titles. I am talking like when Real bought Cristiano or even Gareth Bale. Nowadays players move for 100m and they are just an additional piece in the side and rarely justify their cost. That said he is very young so you would get more value from someone like Jadon IF he succeeds
