I believe so.

By next season, hopefully, they will be fully integrated with the 1st team and we'll have 3 players capable on the right-wing who are all younger than Sancho and cost initially ⅓ of what Dortmund valued him.

Not necessarily, but we are not going to be back in for him at this valuation. Unlike Haaland, there is no evidence he belongs in that price range nor is he as marketable like a Rashford is.

Maybe in 2022, if he doesn't sign another contract extension and would have one year left on his contract.

A few poor games and you’re acting all high and mighty as if you have been proven correct. He certainly wasn’t overrated based on his last two seems. Seems fairly obvious his heart isn’t in it with Dortmund now with a explanation for his poor form.

When youre trying to have a team drop 120 million on you, then you better fecking show up and perform otherwise you're shooting yourself in the foot.

United are done with this transfer.
 
Spend that money on Haaland, Cavani has shown today what having a top striker is worth.

Well there were in the summer. And im pretty certain in the whole of world football there is now.

A great strategy for RW would have been sign Diallo and also get someone older like Perisic on loan for a year, maybe extend extra year depending on how Diallo develops in his fist 5 months at the club.
 
You can talk about Haaland but he will cost 100m or plus or may be they won’t sell him. His release clause 75m euro will active in 2022. Wonder we can sign him before 2022.
 
What we need is Sancho, a pure defensive midfielder and a pacey centre back. You like at how Cavani plays and think how many he’d score with proper service from the right side like he’d get from Sancho.

Cavani, great as he’s been so far won’t be able to take the full strain of two games a week so instead of buying sancho, surely another striker would be priority? Greenwood isn’t ready to play centrally yet, Martial just isn’t a no9. We need another striker.

Also, say we buy Sancho, what then of Greenwood, Diallo and Pellistri? Any of those three could turn out to be fantastic.

Yea i agree. We need a top top class striker. Play Martial and Rashford on the attacking wings.

By all accounts it's beneficial for us because he'll have lowered his value with demands.

I think people undermine how much the failed move has potentially effected his mentality. I could imagine quite the excitement to come back to the UK especially considering the circumstances of him leaving. Further highlighting the reports of him being "unwell" and he has not at any time committed any statement to support his longevity at Dortmund I think he's got one foot out the door.

I know Woodward underhanded their perceived value but Dortmund have in no way played a wise move in the matter. They have what I feel is a disinterested player.

Thats what I meant. He needs to make them regret not letting him move while on top. A lesser season and Dortmund's losses from matchday revenue. United matchday is only 25% of our revenue. I believe Dortmund is higher. 75Million deal for him and Grealish each and we're back baby. Probably have to sell Pogba though to get funds

Sancho and Grealish in exchange for selling Pogba and next summers transfer budget is an amazing deal! Though we'd still need a DCM and very fast CB (eg Upamacano) at some point too (Or hope Tuanzebe can graduate into that role). we also want Haaland at some point too.

Obviously we cant fund all of that, even spread out over 2 summers so there is a difficult job of prioritisation determined by what purchases further improve the entire team. In buying VdB, I think its now Sancho or Grealish, and certainly not both.

Despite being one of the true Sancho muppets last summer, I'm now glad and credit Woodward greatly for holding his nerve under insane fan pressure to spend that obscene amount of fee and wages. We've seen in cavani how a true no9 can truly invigorate us, whilst having Rashford Martial and Greenwood for inverted forward roles. And we have Pellistri and Diallo developing quickly.

So I think we truly need a no9 (Haaland), Grealish who offers a different option to the inverted forwards and I'm hoping Tuanzebe can make his breakthrough this year, so that also leave budget for a new DCM.

We have the next 5 months to determine which is best for our needs but Sancho may have missed his chance

Absolutely. Based on how we got our fingers burned with Pogba I'd say any fee approaching or exceeding Pogba's should be for a game-changing superstar. Sancho is good. Haaland is a superstar.

I think you need to be careful and think long term, Haaland is definitely flavour of the month or even season so far, but what does he need to operate. I haven't watched him enough, is he an out and out striker with movement and hold up play like Cavani, is he more of a speed merchant running onto passes in behind, does he need wingers and crosses, where do the assists to his goals come from etc?

Personally, if possible and if I was Ole, I would try to sell Pogba and bring in both Sancho and Haaland, but then does that blow your entire transfer budget and leaves holes elsewhere?

Both clubs would have won the same things without them, so the investment has not had a tangible impact which you expect from a player of that amount.

I hope clubs are wising up to the fact that spending £100m on a single player is a bad idea. For some reason, clubs have got the idea that the next Messi/Ronaldo will be found so soon. Players of that standard come around rarely, so it is stupid to throw around ridiculous amounts of cash just for the very small chance of unearthing the 'next greatest player ever'. So, Sancho is not worth it.

Dortmund probably don't think he is worth that much either, but buying clubs have been so stupid recently that I am not surprised they asked for so much. Especially when they didn't even want to sell him.

What?Ronaldo went to Real Madrid and became their top goal scorer. Surely generated the money they payed for him in T-shirt revenues and Real Madrid also have control over 50% of a players income that comes from any sort of marketing. Ronaldo was there for 9 years. Won 4 champions leagues. They could have payed 250m and it still would’ve been worth it.

People were saying the same when we signed Alexis Sanchez.
(His heart was not at Arsenal anymore, hence why he dipped in form. He would regain his form at United. Blah blah...)

I think he is talking about Ronaldo's transfer to Juventus not to Real Madrid.

75m EUR is still a lot of money that we won't be able to put in this post covid world. And if the story about the hack is true, it's even less likely for us...

Rooney was the most expensive teenager in the world at the time. It was a massive transfer.

I agree that Sancho’s valuation is OTT, but if it wasn’t for Covid, I think we would have paid it.

Honestly I don’t get how some people think he is a poor player now because he isn’t too fussed to be at Dortmund.

Last two seasons he has been ridiculously good to watch. Apart from Messi he’s been my favourite player last few years to see regularly. He has more than is needed to come to United and be a world beater. Super smart and just a joy to watch. His output is impressive too for a winger.

People banging on about Haaland is fair enough he’s great but Sancho was a better footballer than Haaland last season and looked the real star in that Dortmund front line. He was a level above anyone else most matches I saw him skill wise and made them tick.

Problem with this is that pretty much every single big club in Europe will be after Haaland and chances are he won't even consider picking us over Real/Bayern/City. Also Grealish is a LW/AM where we already have Rashford, Martial and Bruno. You don't spend 100 mill+ where there isn't a problem to fix. Currently our only right-sided options are Greenwood and Mata, both out of position, and AWB. only 29% of our attacks come from the right, compared to 45% from the left. This problem won't be fixed with Grealish, Haaland or two 18-year olds without first-team experience. Sancho for a compromised 80-90 mill next summer makes way more sense.

To be fair, 2022 probably past covid unless if there is anything worse. 75m EUR is about Lukaku's fees.

Not even comparable. Rooney was doing it in PL and World Cup at even younger age than Sancho.
While Sancho has done it in Germans League, and pretty average with NT.
 
While I don't think he's as big a talent as Rooney was, he's the best one since and among the best young players in the game today. One of the players I wouldn't mind us overpaying for. He'd be superb for us.
 
Hope he runs down his deal on purpose now and sticks it to Dortmund good and proper. Might end up joining us, or somebody else, for free in 2023. Or for a vastly reduced fee in 2022 where he will only have a year left.

Jesus that’s an odd comparison. Sancho is 20 whereas Sanchez was in late 20’s and had been flogged throughout his career when we signed him. There’s no way Sancho is declining physically which was the case with Sanchez.
