Is it time to burst “Rashy’s” bubble?

There’s too much sentimental value placed on certain players at United.

The idea that because a player runs a lot, or try’s his best or gets what United is ‘About’, whatever that means, should be held in as high regard as actual talent and ability is why the current squad is cluttered with players who don’t belong in a team with United’s ambitions.

It’s also the reason that our current wage structure is in the mess it is. Why shouldn’t Alexis Sanchez demand £350,000 a week or whatever he’s on when the likes of Rashford and Lingard are on inflated wages.

He's quickly starting to look like the next Theo Walcott, seemingly all the physical attributes but no brain.

He’s ok isn’t he? A nice local youth product to put on the bench. He doesn’t get into the starting line up of any other top 10 team as the central striker. We pay him how much a week?

He's one of the best young players to have come through in England in the past few years, but too much has been expected of him. He should be learning still, not expected to be the finished product. Definitely one to keep.
This, he's playing too much, and isn't ready to be one of our main starters. It's like if City had a thread bare squad and had to rely on Foden year after year.

Rashford should be sold if he continues to think he's the finished product. He is not even anywhere near the levels of Louis Saha and Demitar Berbatov and he's asking to be paid like them.

I'm hopeful he can develop into a good player, but I agree with this.

£150k per week? Let him earn that somewhere else.

The bubble is real. We've got too many youtube players, doing it for the highlight reel. So many missed flicks and tricks. Looks like he is going the way of Memphis Depay honestly.

The only thing he is doing consistently is playing like Danny Welbeck. In fact I will go on record. He is Danny Welbeck 2.0.

He’s had chance after chance to perform and couldn’t do it. I hate to say it by Jose was right on him and Martial.

Will get Ole sacked, he wont return the numbers or performances for the amount of mins he plays.

Would take Vardy, Darren Bent even Abonglahor over him. Absolute rubbish of a footballer, championship level.

The fact that he seems to have to hit pretty much every free kick we have regardless of what area of the pitch it is in is just ridiculous. He is not a senior player and that fact he can do whatever the hell he wants on the pitch shows just how screwed we are. Imagine him drilling shots into row Z with Keano as captain. Like a lot of others he cares more about looking good with flicks and tricks than actually winning matches.

He believed in his own hype and thinks himself a new Ronaldo. Shame. Was down the earth hard working boy in his first 1.5 season. Since last season he has become rubbish all around. His greed and arrogance style has grown massively thanks to hype and now trying to emulate Ronaldo in every ball. He believes he already made it.

It's a failure of leadership on both the managers and the senior players to allow that to continue. This has been going on for over a year now, and there's better FK-takers on the team.

He’s not been fit enough to play in the past few games. When he was on form he would run non stop and look a lot sharper in possession. He would actually trap the ball on a turn and attempt some ball control before feeding it off and zipping away.

He’s clearly not at his best. This is not his standard and shouldn’t be held against him.

He’s being played when he should be rested similar to DDG. You’d be mad to think DDG’s current form is that of his standard.

His agent should have a netflix comedy special were he spends the full hour talking about how he leaked rumours Barcelona were interested in Rashford for 100m.

The difference being DDG has performed at an elite level for years. Rashford has never performed to that type of level over any reasonable timeframe.

Sell him,for as much as you can get, sell pogba as well, sell Sanchez, sell, Matic, sell Lukaku,

Extremely one dimensional, has no hold up play, build up play, strikers instinct, bottle, awareness of his team mates, just flat out not a team player.

And his free kicks are terrible.

If he was playing in the late 90s early 2000s in a 4-4-2 as part of a target man/ runner strike partnership would return decent numbers if he was played with a quality striker.

As it stands, he is going to end up bombed out the club within the next two seasons unless he improves dramatically all round.

He’s forever running the ball out of play too.

I’ve been saying it for ages. He was great coming through the youth ranks and has sparkled sporadically for the first team but he should currently be nowhere near our starting 11 and should be allowed to develop as a squad player and no more.

I really like him but he is stuck in a rut at the minute. People saying he is still a kid and has loads to learn are correct but also look at Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney to name just two that show age is no barrier if you’re truly good enough to be leading the line in a big team.

50m plus bid?

Let him go. He had plenty of chances today which shows he is not ready to lead the line.

Tbh- we are fecked. We are in a position where someone like vardy is a big improvement on anything we currently have

Got a lot of talent but simple fact is he is not ready to be an automatic starter for a club like Utd. He may well be in a few years but not right now.

For all the deficiencies in this side, they would look a damn sight better with a proper consistent no.9 - City are a fantastic side but Aguero is key to them. A top number 9 makes all the difference.

I've been saying it for over two years that he isn't good enough. We need to sign a CF and have Mason as back up.

Rashford is a kick and rush merchant, and if you takeaway the space for him to run into, then you're left with a very average player. He's not a striker and neither is he a winger, due to not having the attributes like good finishing ability or even a goal scorers instinct. Neither is his dribbling upto scratch.

I've said this many games ago he needs to bench him he's got too big for his boots. His shooting freekicks and useless runs are getting him nowhere.

@Wumminator any thoughts on these reactions? You were giving me stick a few weeks ago for saying Rashford isn’t good enough to be our striker.

Glad that people are now realizing that how shit he is.

He's not good enough to lead the line next season. Him and martial (if they stay) can rotate for LW and as backup 9s.

Sell Sanchez and Lukaku and buy a new striker and a RW. A man can always hope...

His head down style is really detrimental to the team as well. I mean, even Lukaku plays with his head up, looking for passing options.

With every game he looks more and more like new Welbeck. I know one thing; he is not a striker. Next season he needs to share minutes with Martial on left wing.

For all his faults, Welbeck had a very good attitude and was a team player.

Rashford had that too, but his head has gone now, for some reason. Should never have been given the 10 shirt.

I was hoping he wouldnt be just another Welback. He is faster, much more skill full but his decisions always seem so erratic. He needs a mentor and im not sure he has one. I will give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment since the whole squad is bad currently.

It does seem though that he is untouchable under Soljkaer. Why do managers favour some players sometimes? Rather than play them just on current form. You perform you start. You dont you become a sub. This giving players confidence by keeping playing them even if they are playing bad is overrated in my opinion.

We'll never learn. While he has showed flashes he has never since he broke into the team shown the ability that matches his hype. I've honestly never rated him as a potential world class talent. At best I saw a useful squad player. But no, we created the narrative that we had produced an home grown worldy, it all got to his head and we dragged ourselves further into perpetual decline. World class talents force themselves into the team by giving the manager no choice. Here we just keep playing him hoping that he magically turns into something useful

Agree with you. It is not confidence that is his problem. He thinks he is much better than he really is. Ole should have rotated him and we need a world class striker to lead the line. Rashford is not the man to do it and if Ole keeps him as the main striker next season it is going to get Ole the sack too.

God this thread has become an absolute shit show. He’s playing in a team of useless cnuts and taking the flak for it here. He looks very short on confidence, his head is hanging lower with every game gone by. He needs a rest along with a few others and a revitalised system to take us forward in the summer.

fecking sell him. What a great idea that is.

The entity that has suffered most from the hype is Rashford himself. He does have some good qualities as a player but the management and indulgence of him has been woeful.

He should be on the periphery trying to force his way into the team with quality performances. Instead some Idiot gave him the no.10 shirt, Ole started calling him Rashy and he gets to start week in week out regardless of form. Meanwhile agents in his ear persuading him he's the new Ronaldo and deserves a salary to match.

So now you get the impression maybe he feels like he needs to be the new Ronaldo, trying to live upto the utterly ridiculous hype in the media and from some of the idiots in here and across the fan base.

He needs a mentor, older heads, a wiser coach to take him out of the firing line and get him back to basics. There's still a player in there, maybe not an elite #9, but a good quad option if he can get back to playing a simple game and working on being effective.

Tldr the hype and mis-management has created this incarnation; 'Rashy'. Nevertheless someone needs to bring him back down to planet earth if he wants a future at a successful man utd.
