If anyone's read Fever Pitch, there's a point in the book where Hornby writes that he stops worrying so much about football and letting it consume most of his energy (which is not to say that it becomes less important to him). In his case, it was when Arsenal finally won the league. I'm getting a similar feeling, at probably a similar age, but for different reasons - in this case, the past few seasons have been so devoid of anything resembling good football from us, and questioning and scratching our heads over selections and transfers has been such an energy-sapping exercise, that I honestly can't summon up the energy to "worry" about this sort of stuff anymore. I still think about it, and I still care intimately about how the club does, and there's very little chance I'll ever get to the point of not watching us. But more and more, when it comes to things like selections and transfers, the feeling I'm getting is "qué será, será".
