Is anyone else getting worried?

We were spectacularly unambitious in the market for years. When things fell apart, we were left playing catch up in a more expensive, less opportunistic market.
Agree with your comments but still feel some of the money invested has been desperate at times Mata / Fellaini / Blind were all bought for excessive fees and they have not vastly improved the squad in my opinion for the money spent. There has been two quality signings Di Maria & Herrera last season and I genuinely like all the signings we have made this season but its still amazing how far off we look against the money spent.

Blind only cost roughly £13M, that's not a bad price for a decent utility player.

By the looks of it we're going to be exceptionally hard to beat, and will control most games, but we will struggle to score lots, and there won't be many if any 3+ goals to nil for us, again it could be a hard watch sometimes.

Having said that I think we'll improve alot on last season mainly because the midfield is so much better, and all the players should be playing their natural potions unlike last season,

I'm only saying this as things stand, we might just get the top class striker, or speedy winger to change things and help us hammer teams.

Why be worried, we finished 4th with the team we had last season, Di-Maria wasnt really a central figure in that and Im sure one of the other players can fill that void now we sorted the midfield. We have got Bastian and Morgan leaving Herrera and Mata free to be able to play those risky passes and roam about and link the play. We also have a speed and goal machine in Depay, with Rooney up front, I think he will find form and score goals for us. Even if DDG were to leave I believe we have enough cover with Valdes, Romero and Lindegaard, I know there not DDG but they make a decent alternative. We have addressed the RB position now, not that Valencia was that bad but we need a RB playing RB. If I had one concern it would be in defence, I would prefer we had signed another CB but I have faith in the defence, 4th best last season (albeit DDG heroics helped). With the midfield we have now, they will offer the defence better protection and there should be less pressure on them.

Completely agree with the first part of your post, we will be hard to beat.
I really hope we do in the end keep AdM, with him we have the creativity and the pace to get behind the opposition. With Pedro we'd have a good replacement, but not so sure were in for him.
All in all I'm not worried it's July 29th people, July 29th

Last season didn't we sign Blind, Rojo, Falcao and Di Maria after the season was under way? The deadline isn't a week on Saturday for the Spurs game, there is over a month left for transfers.

Not at all worried. But if we go into the season with this squad then we'll struggle at times because, just like last season, there are gaping holes in there.

we'll miss the player Di Maria promised to be, not the one we actually was for us.

if we recoup a fair bit for him and it allows perreria and januzaj more game time then its not a bad thing.

going forward perreira, januzaj and Memphis all behind a centre forward with 2 of our midfielders then I am as excited about a United team for the first time since 2007 ish!

with trying to cram RVP, Falcao, Di Maria Rooney and Mata into one team at times last year we where more like a City / Chelsea / PSG side just buying names.

With talented, attack minded and "home grown" players we are more like a proper United side.

However, all of our best side still had a superstar, not necessarily a bought in one but a superstar nevertheless and I still think we are missing our "jewel in the crown" which will only improve our Younger players

I'm pretty happy with the squad. It's not full of big names but then that didn't exactly work wonders last season. There's no guarentee a 'galactico' type signing would improve us anyway, as Di Maria proved.

There should be a 'worried' sub forum where these kinds of threads can find like minded people.

As has been previously mentioned, there are bigger things in life to worry about. Even then you should not worry, worrying acheives nothing.

It just illustrates the shiny new toy syndrome fans have acquired during transfer windows, especially in the social media era.

And yet one of our better players last season. Weird.
In an average season not weird at all when you think about it. Our standards have dropped considerably, if 4th place is seen as acceptable.

We still need a CB....It gives me nightmares the thought of a Smalling/Jones partnership with Evans as a back up.

Also, with the loss of RVP & Falcao and the fact I can't see Rooney scoring more than 20 plus goals, we need another top quality centre forward.

And do I need to mention if we lose DDG!
Rojo and Blind?

I am not worried at all but I think that is because I have found a sense of inner peace about these things. Let the chips fall where they may. The Moyes reign immunised me against disappointment. The worst has happened.

I am looking forward to the season.

Pedro will be a good replacement for Di Maria probably also being a bit more of a Van Gaal player.

DDG may still end up staying for a year and if he does end up leaving I don't doubt we'll sign a good replcement like Muslera or Lloris.

The only thing worrying me a bit is the centreback position.

I don't worry about football. Much more things in life to worry about personally, so I will just enjoy the football and have a good moan when we don't win
This! Exactly this! I get pissed off when we lose coz it means I can't watch MOTD. But I don't let it get to me like it used to.

Di Maria is pretty much out the door

Thats good news.

De Gea may not be far behind him.

If we get the deal we want, then good. He wont be going anywhere otherwise.

It seems like we are chasing our tails for Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, and Pedro. Who are we after that we actually have a chance to sign?
Lets wait and see what Woody pulls out of the bag. A central defender would be nice, but maybe we have to do without as the level of player we need might not be available.

Have faith in Woody, and at the end of the window, you shall question whether he be mere man or demigod.

Woodward is love. Woodward is life.

Nope. Very happy with the squad. Maria was ineffective or banned during our best spell, so no loss. Him leaving gives our excellent youth a better chance to succeed.
Midfield has been strengthened ten fold which will provide better protection to defence. I'm not worried at all. Just need a bit of bravery from LvG.
De Gea will stay another year and we'll sort that out next summer. Or he might change his mind.

No, then he would be too tall, no pace and not skilful enough etc.
You make out I dont have a point, can you tell me what he brings to the team especially at centre half, its currently half time against a decent european team PSG and Blind on both goals is nowhere to be seen He is a shocking player and brings very little to the team. How we have not bought a good centre half I will never know, it was needed last year and £250m later its still not been properly addressed.

Yes, we need world class CB and a forward who is going to push Rooney.....

I'm really worried. I'm worried van Gaal thinks Blind can do a job at CB and that Rooney can really provide over 20 goals over a season. We sold the wrong striker.

Happy with the squad and signings. Not too pleased with the idea of Jones and Blind, but that should sort itself out once the season starts and Smalling and Rojo are in contention.

Is this thread seriously popping up cause we lost a pre-season friendly?!
