IPL 2020

Pooran is a great hitter. Anyone else remember him in the u-19 world cup when he played? Looked nothing like the player he is now.

Broke both his legs in an accident apparently? Great comeback

Mujeeb coming at 5 down. Wow that is some long tail for Punjab.

I don't think KL Rahul is a good opener anymore. He's better off coming in the lower middle order when he doesn't have to think and can just give the ball a bash - like he's become for India in recent ODIs. Someone's ruined his game at the top of the order by trying to convert him into Dhawan and Rohit.

What kind of planning was that from Pooran! Refuse to take run and then get out playing a stupid shot. Punjab team should just leave the tournament.

He got flustered due to such a long tail. Ideally he would have wanted to continue playing his shots but had to stop due to wickets which broke all of his rhythm.

Aron has some serious gas hasn't he. He's the one who hit Buttler in the face isn't he?

EDIT: Broad, not Buttler

Is anyone surprised by how well Delhi is doing?

I didn’t spot their first XI to be particularly brilliant before, but when you look at it right now, it’s perfectly balanced in batting and bowling, and seems to have players for every scenario.

Not at all surprising. They have a young squad but it has been on the up since last season. They finished 3rd last year and under Ponting they have been incredible. Shreyas Iyer's captaincy has been pretty good and I always feel he should be India's next captain. Their bowling is brilliant, two top class fast bowlers and quality spinners led by Ashwin. I would have been gutted if they were not performing this well. Hope they win it.

No I'm not surprised actually. They look to have a great squad - they seem to have snapped up most of the best young Indian batters and that means they can play at least two overseas bowlers (not sure Nortje is top-class but Rabada certainly is). Ashwin is a great signing too.

Also, I can't think of anyone who's gone up in my estimation more than Ponting. He seemed like a snarling little prick when he played against England but he's actually got a brilliant cricket brain and seems a really decent person to boot. He puts a lot of the British commentators to shame whenever he does Eng-Aus matches. Not surprised he's doing well as a coach.

Pooran and Hetmyer are the most exciting middle order in cricket. Both of them have 0 restraint

Not at all -- said it in the original post and felt they were big favourites at the beginning

Ashwin is an incredible signing for them. The difference between 4 good bowlers and 3 good bowlers in T20 is enormous.

They play the right way as well. Shaw, Iyer, Pant, Stoinis, Hetmyer don't feck around.

They just need to get rid of Dhawan

Rajasthan batting seniors have really underperformed entire tournament so far.

To think rcb let stoinis go and Punjab let ashwin go is pretty amazing. Both of them have taken this Delhi team a level up.

Considering they managed to get 24 off of Rabada's first 2 overs this is a truly puzzling effort from Rajasthan so far.

Today’s performance is a brilliant example of Delhi’s high class durability.

none of their leading batsman managed to get away and yet they still forced their way to a par score 185 through sheer will power. And their bowling has been too consistent to allow any Rajasthan batter to impose himself.

Look certain to finish top 2.

Is Gayle finished in IPL? Seems like their are plenty of guys who can now score at his SR, and also offer other team attributes too.

Can’t see whom he can replace in Punjab team, unless it’s to rest on of the openers.

Rahul, Agarwal and Pooran have over 900 runs between them in 7 games.
And yet they have only won 1 game.
What are they doing wrong?!

They have plenty of talent, so I guess they're fecking up their strategies.
