Internationals September (World Cup Qualifiers)

Yep. Pretty pathetic from Southgate but not unexpected.
nothing has changed in the style or fitness between Saka and Grealish in the three games since the Euros final to the first qualification game
Except the transfer.

The one thing I must give Southgate and the players credit for is that the England have looked very soild at the back *touches wood* over the last 18 months or so. The players on paper are nothing special but they've surprised me.

You see I'm seeing this differently. Again England been patient and knocking the ball around confidently and just wating for the chance rather than just hitting it aimlessly into the channels as many previous teams did (including the golden generation lot). Reminds me of the manner of a Spain or Germany in last decade (although England of course still need to back it up by winning something).

Of course this isn't a great Poland team but they still have a world class striker and some useful other players yet barely created anything.

England are solid and finally have some composure about them so as we've seen in last three years that can take you far in international football.
I'm not sure about that, the previous generations didn't really have problems with comfortable qualifying games. They've always been controlled on the way to major tournaments so I don't think it's anything that wouldn't be expected. England are a major footballing nation, qualifying with decent games is expected and totally par.

I also didn't look at this Poland side and think they're going to create much. Having a top striker is only as useful as the opportunities they can create for him. I thought he'd be lucky to have one chance all game and he probably had it with the lob chance.

It’s effective but that doesn’t change the fact it’s boring as feck. Doesn’t really matter in an international tournament but in these games I’d expect a little more from this England squad.

Poland have a pretty good team for so many players playing lower level..

This English side should really win something… Its the best i have seen them in years. (As a team).

Is there no modern keeper coming through for England (I don't mean Henderson) ?

It really does have incredible potential. Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood missing from this lot too.

They are pretty good players. Maguire and Shaw are class. Walker is an athletic beast and Stones has been decent for City recently. With two defensive mids sitting in front I think we should expect a solid defence.

Mount brings absolutely feck all from an attacking perspective to England. Only there because of what he brings defensively. A more ambitious manager would drop him for a more attacking player.

He retains possession. He's a cultured midfielder in my view, quite un-English. But this game has been calling for pace and width, so not the best fit tonight.

Think you said it there,” a more ambitious manager.”

That’ll never be Southgate

Poor everton fans must be a nightmare to have Pickford in goal week in and out

Such a bizarre creature capable of a world class save and a world class brain fart in the span of seconds

How many games are you watching?!

Yeah, I think this is spot on.

The back 4 is made up of 2 starters for the Premier League champions and 2 starters from the runners up. They might not be tier 1 but they're still very good.
