Internationals September (World Cup Qualifiers)

Mancio needs to stop fecking around and throw in Chiesa already. GD is the first tie-breaker apparently so it's important to bury these farmers

5-0

I never said it was easy. But that’s what good and great coaches do. The original post exclaimed some sort of shock at his achievement at Chelsea
Not really my initial post said Tuchel is a genius for making Mason Mount look class.

They would just press him on the ball or let him have it and press his options. You can’t get away with being so limited anymore as his game v Italy showed.
Who’s they? The vast majority of the PL couldn’t do it, and he had Soucek as his partner. He looked vulnerable against us, City and Liverpool but that’s hardly disgraceful for a young player. He doesn’t hide which is a superb attribute for any player

He doesn’t make him look class, he gets him functioning as part of a good team. That makes him good for Chelsea.
For England I’m lost as to what his role is.

Werner with another one for his higlight show.

What's your point? Unfairly maligned Lindelof should be in the United team ahead of Maguire or Varane?

Plenty give Maguire stick for any mistakes if you hadn't noticed.
My point was that he’s been very good so far in today’s game. Then someone wrote he always has a mistake in him, but I don’t agree he is more prone to mistakes than other CBs.

This midfield really does show it's limitations in games like this. It's okay for tournament football where nicking a goal might be enough, at least until meeting top opposition.

But a game like this that ultimately isn't going to decide anything and the opposition are just letting us pass it around, it becomes fairly redundant. One guy in Rice that is purely defensive and another in Phillips who is a water carrier, okay but afraid to try anything.

Dull game.

Haven't seen the match or followed the thread but I'm assuming that a load of posters are calling Mount overrated.

He's been very quiet, but to be honest, no worse than most of the other players out there.

It may be a fantastic attribute but you need more than that but are competing with the best teams and players in Europe in our league. Not only will he be up against midfields as good as he is he will be up against players levels above his ball playing ability. Even his role as a sitter is obsolete at the highest level, you have to be comfortable in all areas of the pitch especially with the modern pressing game. Think how many times it’s pointed out how pedestrian he is in an England shirt then realise its what? 6 international games a season v a potential 60 at club level

It's gotta be frustrating being a striker and playing with sterling

Sterling best stuff is when he doesn't have the ball and can move into position for a cut back
He's usually terrible in one on ones and takes wayy too many touches unnecessarily when he's isolated a defender to take on

quite a boring game between England and Poland. I expected a heck of a lot more from these two sides as they both have very good attacking players.

England are set up to draw this match and really aren't pushing numbers forward.

AS for Rice....based on our squad, i'd rather have Phillips than Rice.

No standout teams during the tournament with no other top coaches around. Deschamps is alright, but he's essentially Mourinho style football. It only lasts for so long until everyone gets sick of it/opposition just figure out how to stop it.

Big teams only care about winning, no one will care how good France played if they lose against a team they shouldn't for not scoring.
France it self should have won one WC in the 80s, and they didn't cause they choked against a german team that barely could beat Mexico on penalties.

If you think people would praise Guardiola/Wenger,etc managing France, but getting knocked out by Romania or Nigeria for wasting chances... you are very naive, and guess what? If that happens Guardiola (or whatever top manager is in charge) is most likely getting fired or resigning.
The fact that people were bashing Germany and Low when they didn't even play bad against Mexico and South Korea, but couldn't score for shit, tells you everything you need to know.

Also WC quality has been underwhelming since the 2000s, 1998 was the last WC with lot of quality, what came after that it's huge meh despiste Spain 2010 winning WC.
2010 WC had poor quality aside from Spain and Germany(also a poorly organized WC), 2014 WC was even worse, and let's not talk about 2002, who probably was the worst WC i remember...the only decent/acceptable was 2006.

Kane channeled his inner Fred there, give Bamford another go.
