Internationals September (World Cup Qualifiers)

Predicting that the favourites for the world cup will be Germany with Flick, Italy with Mancini, Spain with Luis Enrique and Netherlands with Van Gaal.

Others like France and England would be up there with a better and more progressive coach, but I don't see it with Southgate and Deschamps.
Agree. Those are the best managers and play the best football but I don't rate the Spanish players that highly

And I keep seeing posts wanting to sign Rice and Phillips.
Wouldn’t sign Rice to do the passing. At his best there he’s great at breaking up play and giving it to players who can pass. For England that’s clearly missing without a Sancho/Bellingham/Greenwood. At Utd we have far more attacking creativity than England so he’d suit our system better.
Philips on the other hand ….

Exactly. He would protect the back four, which is why some think he should be a CB. Good defensively. You wouldn't be worrying everytime he got the ball.

Deschamps already won a WC, and would have won an Euro too if it wasn't for Gignac shot on the post at the last minute

Rice is a good player and you can see that in his defensive game. If he played alongside a proper playmaker then Rice would be brilliant

This means we'll need another midfielder if we bought Rice which I don't see happening considering how much he would cost.

There’s a chance he could function alongside Pogba. I think he’s a proper solid defensive player Rice and he’s pretty neat with the ball.,

I still like him and he seems to be mich more progressive on the ball for leeds but a midfield of him and rice is incredibly limited on the ball. Especially with mount playing as a defensive attacking midfielder. Bellingham is a must but cant see gareth giving him a chance against a good team

England are a good team now but a better manager could do more with this squad

I liked the look of Kalvin Phillips at the Euros but he's been fecking shite in these qualifiers.

Tuchel really is a genius making people think Chelsea have a world class team. He’s just done a brilliant job!
So basically he’s a good coach in that he’s getting his team to perform. I’m pretty sure that’s why you hire a coach/manager

No standout teams during the tournament with no other top coaches around. Deschamps is alright, but he's essentially Mourinho style football. It only lasts for so long until everyone gets sick of it/opposition just figure out how to stop it.

That's lindelof though.

A terrible mistake is always there even when he's having a good game.
It’s not unique for Lindelof by any means. We saw similar last game when Maguire was dribbled and we actually see several bad interactions/mistakes like this in every game but it’s always highlighted when it’s Lindelof.

(they showed some replays now and it looked as he fell because the grass let go under him)

Haven't seen the match or followed the thread but I'm assuming that a load of posters are calling Mount overrated.

Spain have an excellent young group with as good a midfield as any. They just lack the cutting edge but Ferran Torres has great potential too. They were the only team who managed to outplay Italy, but were unlucky with pens.

Because it happens more with Lindelof.

He's now in the position he should have always been in which is a backup CB. He's not terrible or anything, I just don't think you win big trophies if he's a first choice player.

He’s been very poor today.

He's basically done the job we asked Fred to do against Wolves but a million times more effectively than Fred could dream of.
Thing is unlike Fred, he doesn’t blast a thunderbolt pass at 5 yards to his own player and then belt a glorious 40 yarder into the crowd.

What's your point? Unfairly maligned Lindelof should be in the United team ahead of Maguire or Varane?

Plenty give Maguire stick for any mistakes if you hadn't noticed.

I fear we only have eyes for rice but really dont think we should be interested in him for the price he would cost

You make it sound easy! Only the very best managers can turn water into wine and Mason Mount is a prime example of that. His system has transformed Chelsea and made people overrate their individuals. I like Ole but he’s so far been unable to impose the same level of system and I don’t think our players massively out perform their ability.

Emma Hayes falling into the Gary Nev style. Refuses to criticise players from her own club. Said nothing about how poor Mount was

I never said it was easy. But that’s what good and great coaches do. The original post exclaimed some sort of shock at his achievement at Chelsea

Surely the point of Rice is that he'd be very very good at protecting our defence, he doesn;t need ot have passing range.

Pogba, Shaw, Bruno are there to drive the ball forwards, he just needs to be able to pass to them, which he can.

Perfect partner for Paul in a midfield 2 to be honest.

Kane will probably score tonight and he will always get goals but he doesn't look half the player he used to be.

All that rushing back from injuries over the years may be costing him.

They would just press him on the ball or let him have it and press his options. You can’t get away with being so limited anymore as his game v Italy showed.

I think he’s demonstrating that more and more. A season at WHU ironing out( pun intended) the rough edges and he’ll be ready
