Internationals September (Nations League + Friendlies) | England RELEGATED

This team instantly looks better with the subs in a 4-2-3-1.

3-5-2 just sucks, England don't have the players for it.

What on earth is Southgate doing.

Picks a squad of his mates who aren't playing at club level because they aint good enough. Yet somehow thinks they will turn up for the national team!?

Plays 3 at the back for 70 mins which isn't working from minute one... Only changes after we go behind so doesn't even have the courage to standby his convictions... Abandons the plan as soon as we go behind.

Get him out, wasting this squad.

He's been a shit manager since he took over, can't think of a good England manager in my lifetime. The FA should pay tooth and nail to get a top coach in IMO if they want any national success.

He did well with England in the last WC and the Euro's, but he should've gone after the euro final defeat. I feel his time is up now.

We are getting what we deserve. Southgate botched two big games in tournaments and we stuck with him. You reap what you sow.

Grealish is a nothing player too can’t believe he duped me..

At this point its not the players IMO, England has a history of having great players but shit managers.

Sven, McClaren, Capello, Hodgson, Southgate.

Sven squandered the best XI we've had since 1966, McClaren speaks for himself, Capello just wasn't a good fit, Hodgson is an average manager, Southgate is below average.

Getting a modern, good coach through the door would help, but we tend to pick the wrong managers continuously.

Players go from playing modern football at club level, to dinosaur tactics at club level. In fairness to Italy, at least Mancini won a premier league at Man City, and won a Euros with Italy.

Capello had the best win % by some margin, problem isn't the players, England generally has a good XI that can go deep into tournaments, the problems the coaching staff IMO.
Grealish now got himself banned for the Germany game. I agree we have good players who are being wasted. The F.A. are not brave enough to chose a modern coach. As someone said they will be likely to go for someone like Gerrard.

It’s a myth he did well. England only beat teams they should be beating. Bar the Germany game in the euros, every decent team England play, they get beat.

Weve had Chelsea FA cup draws in the last 2 tournaments

Agonising. Italy looks more like collective even though quite few new faces in the first squad.

Southgate is choking this team.

3-5-2 just sucks, England don't have the players for it.

He will find any excuse to fall back into 3-5-2, he feels safe with it. Because thats what Southgate is, safe. It’s frustrating seeing so many technically good players finally in an England side and we neutralise them with safe choices.

If we got relegated what kind of teams would we end up playing? Also it would affect our ranking for the next Euros qualification.

Get in! Survived in the end and finished top of league B again. Last game doesn't matter now. Great to see.

No playmaker, no wingers, no strikers, no right back. Just a sh*t team. We'd be lucky to get past the group stage again.

England aren’t any worse than they were at the Euros. Just not getting lucky.

Did Italy have a lot of suspensions/injuries because that’s nowhere near their strongest XI?

Southgate should do more of his “conducting the crowd” stuff - people loved him when he did that.

Southgate will struggle because of a lot of his go to players have regressed/struggled since the Euros, including Maguire, Sterling, Rice and Saka. Walker is older. That's almost half the starting XI.

The Southgate myth will be burst at the world cup if he doesn't quickly change things up.

Southgate congratulating his players ? …someone tell him he lost

Still not seeing any kind of rhythm in attack for England, a lot of names but nothing else. They need a major error or set piece to get any foothold.
That’s been Southgate football from the beginning.

Southgate will slag off some United players to deflect. Probably throw Maguire under the bus now. He was putting his reputation on the line apparently.

Weve had Chelsea FA cup draws in the last 2 tournaments

England could have won the World Cup, they had a piss easy run in, and lost to Croatia. They needed to perform in just 2 games, pathetic really.

And the Euros the same, couldn't beat a shit Italy side. It's down to the coaching staff. The FA need to look hard at themselves.

When you look at Italy and see players who play for teams like West Ham come on but you have England players who play for big teams, Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham, United and have won major honours you have to realise it's really not the players, technically they are great players.

Stuck with inadequate coaches. England should be doing better.

If he believes in it so much why does he change it as soon as we lose ?

it reminds me of Mourinho how he used to start defensively then change as soon as we went 1-0 down and suddenly came alive.

He's got no bottle as a manager. Giving him a new contract was the stupidest thing ever.

Southgate is just such a poor manager. I think he's even worse than Solskjaer. At least when Ole had the counter attack in full flow it was good to see. This England team just bores the hell out of me. Completely useless.

I’m not an England fan but I’d be greatly intrigued to see the players currently available to them under the tutelage of a progressive manager like Potter. I reckon they’d play some terrific, expansive stuff.

Well thats brutal. Getting beyond the second round of the World Cup will be an acheivement with that form.

Mancini and a really poor side, versus a good side and Southgate. Mancini wins easily, did it in the Euros and today.

League B is decent. Likes of Serbia, Austria, Ukraine, Wales etc should be in there next time out. And England might be a bit more competitive there
